Inferno nodded. "T-thank you your majesty."

He quickly ran towards the hall that the monarch pointed at.

"Cinder?"

There she stood.
Cinder turns around, facing Inferno, her face brightening up as she flutters over to him, glad to see a friendly face again, as she nuzzles him affectionately.

"Inferno!
I'm so happy to see you again!"

She states, smiling, though her grin dissapears and turns into a frown of worry, once she spots blood on Inferno's wing.

Her eyes go wide as she digs her beak in between his wing and side, getting a better look at the injury beneath his wing.

"Y-you're hurt...
What happened?"

Inferno leaned into her nuzzle, and returned it with one of his own. "I'm so happy to see you too." He smiled.

He groaned, and winced when she looked at his wing, pulling away after a few seconds.

"I'm fine, it's nothing." He lied, trying his best to tuck his wing up in its normal position, though it hurt, so he just let it droop, turning so her gaze wouldn't be on his injured wing.

It clearly wasn't nothing if he was bleeding, and it strikes her as a bullet when she realizes what had happened, which was kind of obvious, judging by Inferno's response.

Cinder sighs, looking at her friend with a frown.

"You didn't do as I told you, did you...?"

She asks, already knowing what the answer to her question was.

"Well, actually, no, I didn't." Inferno responded, refraining from telling his partner that he planned on doing it.

"I was attacked and blocked by one of those crazy owls. Hoolemere saved me."

Suddenly, Inferno stood up as tall as he could, looking down at her. "Anyway, I don't exactly have to obey your every command."

Cinder listens through, to what Inferno has to say, unsure if to believe every single one of his words.

She's just about to protest, and ask for the truth, though, she notices Inferno tower before her, and can't help but cower, legitimately afraid of his reaction, and saddened by his response.

"Y-you're right.
I'm sorry...
I-I was just trying to protect you."

Cinder apologizes, averting his gaze and backing away from him a little, scared.

Inferno noticed her shy away from him, and half regretted what he said and did.

"Don't be sorry, you were just worried." He sighed. "I have no clue why I'm acting so proud, and high. Because I was an embarrassment. If you had seen my sad attempts to fight back...." His voice trailed off.

"Anyway, are you alright?" The male Phoenix asked, his eyes flooded with concern.

There's next to no change in her expression.
Cinder had truly not expected that at all.
Was she overprotecting him?
It didn't matter now, for her mind was filled with fear of losing the only company she'd ever had.

"Yeah, I-I'm okay...
I-I've got to go speak with, Myrrha, okay?
I'll see you soon."

Cinder lies, before fluttering away, not waiting for a response at all.

(Hope I'm not making her overreact, I'm just terrible at writing during classes

Inferno sighed, watching her fly away. He nearly called out, to try and get her to come back. But refrained. That was probably what she wanted anyway.

But, I should have tried to fix things! This is terrible, what have I done? He sighed again. She said 'see you soon.' Maybe she'll come back. I'll just go and wait in that room.

Standing up, he started to head down the hall, in hopes of finding the nest they had slept in. Soon finding himself lost after walking down, and through continuous hallways.

"This tree is too big, and confusing!" He cried out in frustration, sitting down in a hall.

(Lol, it's fine! Just more drama.)

The silence of the seemingly endless halls is interrupted by a familiar voice, one that Inferno knew very well.

"Well, you get used to it."

The very queen spoke, smiling fondly as she walks over to Inferno.
