Phil put the girl down on there sofa "no I haven't seen her before.. " he murmured as he watched the child slowly stir, "Dan what will we do?" He asked worriedly as he saw the child wide awake

Janai looked at the two men "Hi.. im Phil and that's Dan.. what's your name and where is your mum?" He hears the older man ask. Taking a deep breath she sighs "My name is Janai.." she paused and ignored the second question turning away from them.

"Hmm," he said, thinking, "We'll talk about the cereal later," he murmured to Phil, in the way a mother might say to her child who has just done something they're not supposed to in the presence of others. He bent down, putting his hands on his knees, "Well then, Janai," he said softly, "Would you like a snack? I have some cereal that you can have."

Janai looked at him and frowned " c..cam I have some toast.. p..please" she spoke with sadness in her voice. Phil sighed "I'll go make it" he spoke and left the living room. Janai glanced at dan "M..my mum.. my mum left me here.. saying she won't come back..ever" she spoke and brought her knees up to her chest softly crying.

"Hey," Dan said comfortingly, "It's ok, we'll figure something out," he comforted the girl, gently resting his hand on her head, stroking her hair. He sat down on the sofa next to her and put his arm around her shoulders.

Janai looked at dan as he sat next her. She listened to him and snuggle into him "my mum.. probably hates me because she couldn't afford anything.." she whisterperd softly.

PHIL walked in "made a toasted sandwich for you.." he spoke and noticed the girl fall silent ignoring him. Whatever happened to her must have been terrible

Dan was taken aback as the girl snuggled up to him, but he soon warmed up and gently tightened his grip around her. "I'm sure she doesn't," he comforted the girl, "I'm sure she doesn't hate you. If she hated you personally, there are a lot worse things that she could do," he said. He reached up to accept the sandwich from Phil, seeing as the girl didn't seem interested.

Janai looked at him and then the last slice of sandwich. She took it and started to nibble on it.

PHIL looked at dan and went up close to him "what are we going to do with her.. I don't think she'd appreciate being in an orphanage or anything.. her mother could be long gone." He spoke imto Dans ear.

"Hmm," Dan said out loud, knowing Janai couldn't know what they were saying without context. "Stay here for a minute, Janai," Dan said, wlking into the kitchen and beckoninh for Phil o follow.

Janai sat there and watched the two boys leave. She sighed and looked at the boys dvds.. no kids movies.. she whined and saw nothing there that could interest her.

PHIL went into the kitchen and sighed " Dan what are we going to do with her.. I don't think she'd appreciate being in an orphanage or anything.. her mother could be long gone." He repeated himself as he closed the glass door.

"You definitely make a point, Phil," Dan said, "but it's not like we can ditch her on the street, so I guess that leaves us with one option..."
