High school for the arts

I looked at him when I heard what he said. How could he act like this was okay? "Eric, you can't switch schools. You need to go to this school. Maybe my parents could lend you some money, just so you could pay for your semester. Then you could pay it back to them when you can. I'm not going to this school without you."

"I know but I can't really afford to pay your parents back so I don't want them to feel like they have to do it. I know that you will be fine without me. But I will apply for a scholarship to try to get one for it and if I don't get it, then I will make it work." Eric said. He did not want to do it though. He loved acting. It was all he really wanted to do and he did not have the math skills to go into a grade level class for it.

"You try for the scholarship, but if you don't get it, you're going to ask my parents to lend you some money," I say to him. Normally, I wasn't this stubborn, but I knew he couldn't go to a regular school. "You wouldn't have to pay them back right away, just whenever you got the money. I'm sure they'd understand. I know they didn't like you at first, but I think they're starting to like you a bit more. They are letting you stay here, after all."

"Letting me stay in their house because I have no where else to go and lending me money are two very different things. I don't want them to get upset because I can't afford to even move out like they wanted me to let alone stay here and have them paying my tuition. I will be fine. I will figure out the math and science to be somewhat at grade level so I can at least try to do that. I know that their theatre programs are not nearly as good as ours and they don't really offer those kinds of classes, but I will figure something out. I will just grow up and be a theatre teacher or something instead of an actor." He said with a shrug. "I am good at English so I could do something with that." He said and sighed. It was not his first choice but it was better than asking her family to do more for him than they already had.

I rolled my eyes, saying, "do you hear what you're saying to yourself, Eric? You're saying that you wouldn't be an actor, something that is your dream, and become something else just because of one mistake. Just because you were protecting... me. You can't give up that easily." I would never be able to forgive myself if I knew that I was the reason Eric wasn't an actor.

Eric listened to her. "I do hear what I am saying but what else am I supposed to do? If I end up at a regular school, it is a lot harder to be an actor. That's is why my parents sent me here. But now I am too poor to be able to afford it. Also fine. Dreams are meant to change. I can't go to a normal school and be an actor in this world. Very few manage to do that." He added and sighed. Eric was not happy with any of this. "We should get ready for school." He said and cleaned up his things. He then got ready to go making sure he did the dishes as well. He always did everything when there were more than just his stuff in the sink. He was not really sure he even felt like going knowing he would most likely not be there much longer. The people doing the need based scholarship would know who his parents are and would probably give him nothing but he would try anyway. That did not make things any easier on him. He grabbed his bag and waited for her.

I still couldn't believe it. I didn't understand why Eric's parents would rather him go to a regular school where he wouldn't become an actor, than continue to pay for him so he could go here. Hadn't they done enough to him by kicking him out of the house? His mother was an actress, didn't she want that for her son? To be an actor? I was going to say more, but Eric said that we should leave for school soon, and I let out a sigh, knowing he was right. I finished getting ready, before meeting him at the door.

Eric was so tired of dealing with his family. He sighed and walked out of the house and went to his car. He got a text from his dad. "You need to pay your insurance for your car." He sighed again feeling even more frustrated with the world. He helped Rosemary get in and sit down. He cared so much about her. He then got in and drove to school getting out when they got there and helped her out of the car. He then started to walk inside. He could here the other students talking about him and knew that his mom had come out with having a son who was in an art school and she was not happy with him. It was all anyone was talking about. He went to his locker to grab his things.

I followed Eric out of the house and into his car. Once we were at school, I walked inside the building and saw people whispering about Eric. For probably the first time ever, I decided to speak up. Using my crutches, I made my way over to a group that was talking about him, saying, "you really need to leave him alone. If you don't find something more interesting to talk about instead of my boyfriend, then you're going to regret it."

The girl from the group looked at her. "Oh am I? I just feel bad for him that he has to deal with you and he will not even be going here next semester according to star magazine. Plus on top of that, there are paparazzi in the office wanting to talk to him. His life is pretty interesting." She said to him. Eric sighed and walked over to Rosemary. "It is okay. They are just bored." He said and kissed the top of her head. "Let's go to class." He said and started to walk to class. He did not care if people talked about him. It was better him than Rosemary in his opinion.
