Listening to him, I nod, trying to focus on the lines. I had never done this before, and I was seriously scared of making a fool of myself, in front of him, and the whole class. And he expected me to try out for a play? It'll be a miracle if I can make it through this.

"It's okay just say what you think." He said watching her. "Your character is really..." He said really trying to get her to say anything that he could work with.

"Happy," I say softly, looking over the script. She had the job of her dreams, the guy of her dreams, and everything seemed to be going her way, which was the complete opposite of my life. Everything I ever knew, I had to leave behind to move here, and now I might not be able to handle it. There were just so many outgoing people, and I was so shy...

"Perfect. Everything is perfect in her life right now and so you really have to get that across. Does that make since? That is really all you need to know about your character so do you want to start running through it? or do you need more time to get into character?" He asked her.

I shake my head as he asks if I need more time to get into character. No, I had this, I just had to act the opposite of how I was feeling. Easy. "I'm ready... though can you start?" I ask him quietly, looking up from my script to see him.

"Yes I can." He said and soon he is saying his first line and he was really into his character.

I listen to him, taking in a deep breath and smiling, a fake smile of course. Looking at him, I tell him happily, "I can't believe it. The first day of my job. This is going to be great. I get to meet new people, and serve happy costumers. What could possibly go wrong?" As I read the lines, I speed up for emphasis that she's excited, and sigh happily at the thoughts of serving happy costumers. I hope I was doing this right. I felt as if I was a completely different person.

"Great. Good. I am excited that you are excited..." He said awkwardly. That is what his character was and he was going to really sell it. "Um...well, the sink is over there. That is where we make the food and that is where you put the orders...Other than that all you have to do it write what the person wants on a ticket..." He said. "Simple..." He added. "Or not depending on how you feel. I don't really know you that well..." He said and just kept rambling until she would cut him off.

"Awesome!" I say in a singsong voice. "I've got it. Don't worry, I won't let you down! I promise I'll be one of your best employees." Geez, why is she so cheerful? She's got a job. So what? It's not like it's the most wonderful thing in the whole world.

"Great..." He said to her. He looked away and said to the next part to the 'audience'. "If only she knew why I am so awkward around her..." He then looked back at her. "Alright. You can get started then. Um try to keep the tables and stuff clean as well..." He said to her.
