High school for the arts

Postby it.will.rain » Wed Jun 01, 2016 12:08 pm

A popular boy who always gets the lead in the musicals and loves everything about preforming meets the shy new girl after she auditions and gets into the best high school for the arts. Will he be able to bring her out of her shell and what will happen if he starts to fall for her.

The Basics wrote:Nicknames: Rose, Rosey, Mary
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Talent: Isn't it obvious? Dance
Personality: Rosemary is a sweet, kind soul. Being a bit on the quiet side, Rosemary is not one to get angry very easily. Instead, if someone yells at her and argues with her, she is more likely to stay quiet, take all the hatred, and then find a quiet place later to cry about it. She has a bit of stage fright, nervous to dance, or really show off any of her talent, in front of others. However, she is quite talented, she just needs a bit of help getting over her fear.

Martha Graham wrote:"Dance is a song of the body. Either of joy or pain."

History: Her mother a forensic scientist and her father being a lawyer, Rosemary was always encouraged to be a doctor because they wanted her to be just as successful as them. Even though she didn't want this, Rose could never find her voice to tell them. Luckily, her English tutor of all people saw this and helped her to make it into the school of arts. Rose's dream would be to be a professional dancer and to preform in front of many people, but her parents still see it as only a hobby and still have her on their path for her to be a doctor. How could she ever be a professional dancer if she can't even dance in front of anyone anyways? At least, this is what her parents hope to stop her dreams so they don't have to crush them.

Other small details I'll probably forget later so I'm writing them here and all her little quirks - Rosey does have a younger sister who's ten, named Quinn, and a yellow lab, Buttercup. She is short, standing at four feet eleven inches tall, and has pierced ears, usually wearing a diamond-looking stud in each ear.

(Looks great! I will start)

Eric walked into school and went to his locker. He was wearing a pale blue V-neck t-shirt with jeans and a pair of gray tennis shoes. Auditions for the next show where in a couple of days and he wanted to look nice but not over the top. He walked over to his locker after getting a few 'break a legs' from some people. That always happens when it was close to auditions. He smiled and thanked them and opened the locker he had decorated the outside himself like everyone else in the school. His had a stage with red curtains. It was a good representation of what he wanted for the rest of her life. He grabbed his books for acting 401 and he was happy to be going to that class. He shut his locker.

(( Okay and thanks ! ))

I clung the books tightly against me as I walked into school, taking in a deep breath. It's okay, you can do this. The hardest part is already over, you're here, aren't you? Yes, but I don't have the slightest clue where I'm going. I was carrying a dance bag containing my clothes and different shoes (ballet, tap, jazz, etc) inside it, along with my books and my schedule the lady at the front desk was nice enough to print out for me. I was dressed fairly casual, wearing a red tank top, black jeans, and a blue denim jacket, nothing too different to bring much attention to me, I hope. However, as I quickly realize that I was completely lost, I stop in the middle of the hallway. Looking around, I try to ask passing by students if they could help me, but either my voice was too quiet or they just ignored me, as no one came to my aide.

Eric walked down the crowded hallway and his best friend, Hayley, walked over and quoted Shakespeare. He answered back without hesitation just like he would if he was actually preforming the show from start to finish. They both laughed and Eric asked what she thought of the next musical. He then saw a girl who looked absolutely lost. "Um Hayley? I will ceatch up with you later." He said and walked towards Rosemary. Hayley waved a goodbye and walked to her class. Eric smiled and held out his hand. "Hi I'm Eric. You must be new here so welcome. Do you need help finding anything?" He asked her. "This school is kind of big with three theatres. It can be easy to get lost." He said kindly.

Oh thank goodness a person that will actually talk to me! Oh gosh, a person is actually talking to me. Alright, umm, okay, well shake his hand first since he's holding out his hand. That is what humans do when they're meeting someone new. I offer a shy smile, doing as my mind told to do and shook his hand. Good, good, now he told you his name, he's probably expecting you to do the same. "Rosemary," I tell him softly, "but you can shorten it too, if you'd like, I don't mind." Okay, look at this, I'm actually talking to someone, wow. Now time to get to the point. "Yes, today's my first day, and I don't really have any idea where my first class is," I say, holding out my schedule for him to see.

Eric nodded smiling at her. "Nice. I am sure you will like it here." There were a few whispers about how cute he was and how lucky Rosemary was to talk to him. They did not use her name of course but how they were staring it was obvious to tell. Eric looked at her schedule. "Nice you have acting with me. It is a pretty good class. The teacher is a bit crazy but nice. He once made me play a fruit so I could better improve my skills. It was strange. Anyway, class is this way. Have you found your locker? everyone here paints their lockers over the summer. There are a couple days we come in and repaint them after they are painted over with just plain gray. I bet they would let you come in on a Saturday to paint it if you wanted or you could do what many of the actors do and hire one of the painters to do it for you. It does not cost much plus then it looks nice but it is up to you how you do it." He said as he walked towards the theatre farthest from where they were.

It felt as if he was speaking to me a million miles per second and the world was spinning. I hadn't even had time to realize everyone was staring at us, or else I probably would have ran away, terrified of the attention. Okay, just breathe, think it through. This was much harder than I thought, coming to a new school. Everyone already seemed to know exactly what they were doing and where they were going. He caught my attention when he said acting class. I was put in acting class? Oh gosh, oh no, why do I have a feeling that I'm going to be put on the spot a lot in there and have to talk in front of people. Following him, I softly say, "oh um, well, that sounds... fun. No, I didn't find my locker yet, I was too busy trying to look for someone to help me. Um, I'll have to think about the locker thing... I didn't know, this is the first I'm hearing of it."

"Ya not many people talk about it. Very few new people were admitted into the school this year. Only five out of the 100 that auditioned. I am on my fourth year here along with many other students. Luckily, you do not have to audition every year." He said and walked into class and sat down. "Sit by me." He said and waited for her to sit. The bell rang and the teacher started his lecture about the art of acting. He then asked Eric on the stage to give a monologue to point out a few things others needed to keep in mind. Eric nodded and stood up. He looked at the teacher. "Which one?" He asked. The teacher told him to do a speech that is given in a Midsummer nights dream to keep things simple for him. Eric took a deep breath and then began. He stepped into the role and walked around the stage a bit as he said it. He set the stage and did his best to bring everyone into his world. When he was done, he got off the stage and sat back in his seat.
