it amazed lux how much faster keto could swim than her. this tail was meant to help her swim but lux felt like it just hindered her. she tried her best to keep up but she still wasn't use to the feeling of having a tail and the sensation of breathing underwater. she forced herself not to come back up for air, she needed to get use to breathing underwater. she flicked her tail hair, trying to keep up with her and eventually, she was at keto's side. she was learning! she smiled over at her friend happily. she wondered where keto was planning to take her, hopefully it was some place where humans couldn't see her while she dried off.

Keto turned to face Lux under the water, smiling at her as she managed to keep up with her. She was beginning to get the hang of using her tail, and hopefully soon she would come to love going for long swims late at night. It was the best feeling, and it was so peaceful. Keto had been on land before, though it had been disapproved of by her parents, she knew what it was like to have legs. It wasn't all bad, but she much preferred her beloved tail. Floating in the water, she felt weightless, like nothing mattered. She reached out a hand to her side, taking Lux's hand in her own as she guided her towards a secluded spot on the beach. Well, it was more of a little rock cove that was completely sheltered from the actual beach, aside from a little gap that just allowed for one person to squeeze through. It was a bit like her moonpool, but cut vertically in half. She surfaced in the little cove, releasing Lux's hand from her own as she pulled herself up to sit on the edge. "I found this place when I first came on to land. I was only a child at the time, and I had never been so scared in my life. So many new things, my parents yelled at me when they found out and I didn't come anywhere close to this place for at least a few months." she said with a chuckle, recalling the very first time she had tried to explore dry land with human legs. She had just learnt about the power that could make water evaporate, and that it was possible to dry herself to gain legs, and she wanted to test it. Safe to say it wasn't what she was expecting. "Here, I'll show you how to dry yourself." she offered out her hand, to help Lux up on to the edge of the rocks.

maybe having a tail isn't that bad, lux thought to herself as she gazed over at keto with a smile. she long russet hair flowed behind her, like the water enveloping her. she felt so free, most more than she did on land. she knew she was changing, her whole attitude towards the ocean and her situation was evolving from fear to excitement. she was looking forward to learning more about her powers that she had gained. she glided along beside keto as she looked forward and under them, seeing fish and other creatures swimming around the in the ocean. soon, lux felt her own hand being taken by keto's as she guided her towards the beach. she was surprised when she was guided to a rock cove instead of a sandy beach but it seemed to be secluded so that didn't matter much to her. she watched keto squeeze in first and then followed behind her. she wasn't exactly as strong in her upper body strength so she just put her arms on the edge and laid her head on her arms, looking up at her friend. "it seems like a good place to start off, i've never seen this cove before and this isn't too far from were i live," she said with a laugh. she nodded. "alright," she said, grabbing keto's hand to help get herself up.

Keto helped Lux out of the water with a smile. She then lifted her own tail out of the water, as it was still dangling over the edge of the rocks. “Okay so first you wanna start off with your hand flat, hovering above your tail. Then, slowly make a fist. You’ll know it’s working when your tail starts to feel warm.” She explained, doing the actions as she explained them. Steam started to rise from her tail as it began to dry. It was a weird feeling, but it was almost calming. It only took a minute for her tail to dry, and legs appear. “Now you try.” She said, turning to Lux with a smile.

lux was surprised how strong keto was, able to pull her out of the water. of course, she helped a little bit but she was still getting use to lugging around a tail. maybe mermaids also had super human strength, she thought but snapped out of her thoughts when keto spoke to her. she nodded. "okay," she said taking a deep breath. she watched keto and her eyes widened. she knew she shouldn't really be surprised by anything anymore but she still was. she looked at her tail intently and then lifted her hands, staring at her tail. she was a bit bummed when she didn't see steam appear from above her own tail.

Keto let out a thoughtful ‘hmm’ as she watched Lux try to dry her tail, but with no luck. She crouched down by her side and reached over to place her hand over the other girls. Slowly, she clenched their fists and watched as steam began to rise from the tail. “Do you feel that? It’s hard to explain, but whenever you use your powers, you can feel it. The power moving through you. Remember it, and try again. Close your eyes and think about the power moving through your arm and into your hand. Feel it, it’s a part of you.” She said, looking up at the girls face, then she removed her hand. It was easy enough to dry Lux’s tail herself, or how she had just shown her with her hand on top of Lux’s, but she wanted Lux to be able to do it herself. She needed to be able to control her powers, because they would only grow and become unpredictable if not. Keto offered the girl an encouraging smile. She knew that she could do this, she had already managed to control water far faster than Keto had learnt when her parents first began teaching her to use her powers.

lux felt like such a weakling keto took her hand and when she watched keto dry her tail with such easy, using her hand and lux's hand. she had to remind herself that the other mermaid had been doing this since she was a young girl and that she had only gotten this tail earlier in the day. she nodded. she could feel a sort of energy moving around her tail and she also felt it in the hand that keto was using to hold her own and that she used to dry her tail. she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. she extended her arms again. she felt the energy by her chest and she forced it into her arms and then into her hands. she suddenly, she heard a sound that sounded like boiling water. she was doing it! eventually, her tail was dry and she had gained her two legs back. "i did it!" she said excitedly.

Keto smiled proudly at Lux as she was able to dry her own tail on her own. "You did it!" she said, practically jumping up and down from her place sat on the ground. She rose to stand on her own legs, hands on her hips as she looked down at Lux. She studied the other girl, her eyes studying the other girl's legs for a moment. She still didn't see the appeal to them, she'd miss her tail too much. She shook herself out of her thoughts and let out a breath. "I guess I should get going then," she said, glancing up at the sky. It was practically dark already, and she could clearly see the moon. She always loved the moon. Keto looked back down at the water, taking a step towards the waters edge before diving in. Only moments later, her legs transformed back to her tail. Ahh, that was better. She surfaced and turned to face Lux, to say her last goodbyes before she would head back to her island home for the night.

the mermaid let her hands go soft once again. her tail was gone! lux stumbled to her feet, already feeling how hard it was to learn to walk again. she laughed excitedly. "i just have to learn how to walk again," she joked. she looked down at her legs and then gently laid her hands on her upper thighs. she closed her eyes with a happy smile. she was so glad to have them back. she frown a bit and nodded. "yeah, but ill see you again soon," she said to her hopefully. she watched as keto dove back into the cool, crisp water. she backed up, being careful not to let any water hit her legs or any of her sick for that matter. that was how she had transformed in the first place. she smiled down at keto before waving. "ill see you soon," she told her before walking off, watching keto swim off.
