Keto let out a huff as she surfaced from the water within the moon pool. She had spent the past two hours watching the people on the mainland. From a safe distance, of course. But when she returned to her home island, she had found that her family and friends had left without her. More humans were visiting their island, and they feared that they would be discovered, so they had decided it would be best to leave. But now, Keto was left behind alone. She knew she could try to find them, but they would be long gone by now. And she didn't even know where they had headed. Surely they would notice that she was not with them and return for her. For now, she would have to stay within the safety of her pool. It was almost dark now, the moon already starting to rise. It was a full moon tonight, which was something special to the mermaid and her family. She used to enjoy spending nights lying in the moon pool, enjoying the magic of the full moon. But the recent threat of more 'tourists' had made it difficult. She should head out soon, to try and scare off any humans too close to the island. They didn't usually stick around this late, but on a full moon, she could never be too careful.

lux walked on the island that her friends had go to for a night out. it was beautiful out here, away from the loudness of the main island of australia that she lived on. the full moon and the stars were bright, twinkling happily above her as she brought back wood for their small camp fire. not many people went out here, as it was rumored to be haunted or cursed. she, at one point, has gotten lost and looked around for any sight of life. she then saw a beautiful light ahead and walked towards it. it seemed to be a large cave with a hole in the top so moonlight streamed in. she kept walking towards it but, little did she know she found a weak spot. the rock gave way under her feet as she plummeted right into the water of the pool, screaming as she fell.

Keto was just about ready to head out of the moon pool to check the shores when she heard a scream and then a splash as a girl had somehow managed to find the cave, and fall in to the pool. She watched in slight fear as the full moon overhead caused the magic in the moon pool to circle the girl before her. This wasn't supposed to happen. She quickly pulled herself out of the moon pool and on to the sand around it, before reached back to help the girl out to make sure she was okay. She didn't bother using her powers to dry herself so that she would get legs in stead of a tail, not only because it had been forbidden by her family, but also because she was more concerned with making sure the girl was alright, and to see if she would transform. It probably would show right away, but once the full moon had passed, if the girl had transformed she would grow a tail when wet. "Are you okay?" She asked the girl.

when lux hit the water she was completely submerged. she tried to see but she couldn't and she felt water rush into her open mouth as she struggled to pull herself to break the surface. she needed air and quick but it hard to even tell if she was going anywhere with the dense water and bubbles clouding her vision as well as her legs having and odd tingling feeling. she finally broke the water and gasped for air, coughing up water. she swam to shallowest area she could get to and tried to pull herself from the water when she heard the voice of a girl and looked up to see a girl. with a tail. she was so frightened and tried to touch the ground but it felt like she didn't even have legs. she looked down to see a long orange tail under her. "what's going on?!"

Keto let out a sigh of relief when the girl managed to talk. She looked at the orange tail where the girl's legs should be. This was not good. A human was not supposed to be on the island or in the moon pool, let alone transform in to a mermaid. "You're okay, don't worry. Here," She said as she held out a hand to help her out of the pool. Would she have powers, like born mermaids? If she did, she might not develop them all at once, but they would be hard to control. How would she get the girl to turn back in to a regular human? Was it even possible? She pushed these thoughts to the back of her mind, she needed to help this girl first and explain what had happened to her. Everything else could come later.

lux was still frightened by the girl but she knew that she could very well die without being helped out of the pool and she couldn't get herself out. she took the girl's hand and with herself pulled herself onto the rocky floor of the cave. she took a deep breath as she looked around the place. what was going on? she still didn't understand. she didn't know where she was nor why this girl was here or who she was. she defiantly didn't know why she had a tail or why the other girl had one as well. "why do i have a tail?" she asked the girl in a shaky voice. maybe she would know as she had a tail.

Keto relaxed when the girl was finally out of the pool and seemed relatively unharmed. "Its the full moon and the pool," she explained, looking at the pool as the water settled. The full moon had fully passed. "It's never happened before, but the moonpool on a full moon is a magical place for mermaids. When you fell in, it caused you to transform." She explained. She was well aware that it would be a lot to take in, considering mermaids had kept their existence secret from humans for generations. "Is anyone else here on the island?" Keto then asked, knowing that they didn't usually visit alone, and it could be dangerous to expose themselves to other humans.
