Jared grinned as he easily made his way up into his seat. He paused when he realized he had thought of it as his, not just where he was sitting for the ride, but as something that belonged to him. However, the thought quickly passed and he leaned back, resting his head on the headrest as he waited for the drive to begin.

Erik hummed softly as he drove, the radio playing softly, "Did you enjoy dinner?" he asked curiously as he looked over at Jared a moment. His eyes went back to the highway as he continued to drive, heading towards the mountains, it was a place he loved, and hoped Jared would like it.

"Mhm" Jared hummed quietly from where he was sitting. His energy was slowly beginning to taper out and he shifted so he was slightly on his side, watching Erik with half closed eyes. "It was great. The food was really good, and I liked having such great company." he elaborated with a small smile.

"I am glad I made good company.' Erik chuckled softly as he turned off the highway onto a winding road that lead them into the mountains and a more forested area. The road was gravel, but well maintained, so they made it through fairly easy, they drove for another half hour before arriving at a stone and log cabin.

Jared smiled and settled into his seat, watching the landscape pass by at Erik drove. When they reached what appeared to be their destination, a cabin, he sat up and glanced questioningly at Erik.

Erik chuckled, "Well, I was not completely unprepared, my grandpa's cabin, he left it to me because he loved me." he said as he got out and opened Jared's door. "It's been kept up, and I had someone make sure it was all ready for us." he said happily.

"I never thought you'd be unprepared, I'm just amazed that we get to stay here. I pictured you getting a room at the fanciest hotel you could find just to pamper me," he replied, a small teasing lilt in his voice, thought he was being completely honest. Jared landed lightly beside Erik as he stepped out of the vehicle, slinging his bag onto his shoulder and crossing his arms around himself as he followed him to the door. "But in my opinion this is better."

Erik chuckled, "Nah, I wanted to bring you some place important to me, because that's what you are becoming to me." he laughed as he opened the door and lead him into the warm cabin. "I am glad you like it." he said as he took Jared's bag so that Jared was free to look around at all the wonderful things in the cabin, like the huge stone fireplace, it was a more modern cabin.

Jared practically glowed at Erik's remark. He was grinning broadly and as they stepped inside the cabin and the warmth of it flooded over him, the smile grew even bigger and he sighed happily. When he spotted the fireplace, he turned to Erik. "Just so you know, I'll probably be spending any and all free time we have this weekend in front of that," he stated, pointing to the fireplace, before kicking off his shoes beside the door and begging to pad about the cabin, peering into and checking out every room he could find with wide, curious eyes and a happy smile on his face.

It was a nice cabin, and the bedrooms were all made up, ready for people to sleep in, and the kitchen smelled of cookies, and there was a plate of them on the counter. Erik chuckled and grabbed one as he watched Jared, "I am glad you like it, I loved coming here after the holidays." he said as he watched.
