Erik smiled, "Because I am rich?" he asked with a laugh, "I have my own parking space, this shouldn't be surprising." He looked at Jared though, searching for disgust, or envy, things he was used to seeing. As the elevator headed up, he looked at the doors, "My parents paid for this dorm to be built, among other things like the library, and computer and technologies center." he said, "Usually this is for visiting professors or speakers, but they gave it to me because of my parents, "Generosity"." He wasn't sure why he was explaining this to Jared, it wasn't like it mattered, he still was living in a huge penthouse, when most had small dorms. Once they reached the top he entered in another code and the doors opened to his place. It was modern and fancy, the kitchen, bed, and living area were all in the one room, and the bathroom was in the corner, it's own little room.
The floors were hardwood, a large area rug in the living room, with a table sitting on it, there was a tv, but it didn't look well used, and on either side were bookshelves, that held actual books. Near the bed, which was in the smaller area at the back, was an easel, with a canvas, which was partially painted, the rest was just pencil drawings, it looked to be of a field and a horse. against the wall, under the window, were painted easels, stacked against eachother, one was an abstract with a dark background, and soft opaque bubbles of colour. The top of the other stack was a close up of a horse's eye, looking like it was staring into the viewers heart.
On the nightstand beside the bed was a pile of journals, all closed, some were newer then others, others were worn and old. They were full of his poetry, mostly, some were his journals, full of his dreams, fears, ideas he had for art. Which was which, only Erik knew, and he didn't often have guests, so they never were hidden, he had no reason for that. The lights had come on automatically when they entered, showing Jared everything in the large space.
