]He rolled his eyes as he responded. You. Late night does not equal an all nighter. And I can't work if you keep texting me... he typed sarcastically and sent before picking up where he left off. But he was having a hard time concentrating on his work.

Erik chuckled and set his phone on the table so that Jared could focus instead of text. He focused on his own work, something he could do well if he needed to.

Jared eventually got himself focused enough to get through most of his work except for two assignments that could wait until the morning to be done. When he glanced at the time some time later, he was relieved to see he could start getting ready. He stood in front of his closet for a bit before he finally settled on a pair of tan jeans a white button up with a navy sweater over it and his cherished white converse. He had worked extra for several weeks at the stable to save up for them and had worked hard ever since he had got them to keep them the pristine white that they still were. He slid his phone and wallet into his pocket and headed for Erik's jeep, arriving a few minutes before nine.

Erik arrived right at nine, he smiled at Jared, "Good to see you." he said warmly, "Excited?" he asked as he unlocked the jeep so that Jared could get in and they could head out on their date.

"Maybe," Jared replied in a vague voice as he got into the car for the second time that day. "What about you?" he asked Erik in a teasing tone.

Erik chuckled, "I could barely focus on my work." he replied teasingly as he got in and began to drive. He looked around, "What kind of food do you like?" he questioned as he looked over at Jared before back at the road.

Jared laughed happily at Erik's response. When the other man asked what good he liked, however, he frowned and shrugged his shoulders. Um... I don't know. Maybe Italian? Or whatever you want is fine," Jared responded after a moment of thought, glancing over at Erik.

Erik smiled as he drove, "Italian sounds good." he said as he tried to think of a good place. He drove a little while around silently, pondering, "You like animals?" he asked to fill the silence.

Mostly. There are few animals that I'm not particularly fond of but in general I like most animals. You already know I love horses, since I worked at a stable, and my mom and I had a cat and a dog, but they stayed with her when I came to college," Jared explained happily, more than willing to answer Erik's questions. "What about you? Do like any animals in particular other than horses?"

Erik smiled as he listened to him, "I have always wanted a cat." he said, "I was never allowed any other pets, they were much too dirty." he said with an eyeroll.
