Jared bit his lip and thought about it as he got in the car as well. "I think I can do that." he replied, nodding his head. He glanced over at Erik to see his reaction.
Jared remained silent for a few minutes before a thought crossed his mind. "Hey Erik, what's your last name?" he asked when he realized he didn't know what it was.
A flash of confusion crossed his face as he puzzled over what Erik had just told him. "Sooo... Is that a coincidence or did someone in your family have something to do with it?" he asked slowly.
Erik laughed, "My family actually donated the money to build the library." he replied as he looked over at Jared, "I am old money rich." he said, "Don't hold it against me, I do all I can to let them down."
"Okay, one, please look at the road. I really don't feel like getting in an accident today," Jared jokingly scolded him, pointing at the road through the windshield. He sighed and shook his head before continuing with a smile. "And two, I don't hold it against you Erik. You could be the richest person in the world and it wouldn't matter. You've shown me your a good person and that is the only thing that really matters."
Erik chuckled as he looked back at the road, "Thanks Jarrod." he said as he continued driving, "That means a lot to me, really, lots of people think I am an arrogant prick." he chuckled.
Jared grinned, happy to have made Erik feel better. "If they want to just assume that then they're that pricks. Not you," he replied casually, shrugging his shoulders. He gazed out the window, watching the world outside the car flash by as they headed back to the campus.
Erik smiled as he pulled back into his parking spot, it was actually his famiy's, there was even a plaque. Erik got out and looked at Jared with a smiled, "I'll see you at nine back here?" he asked with a grin.
