Riddle
Riddle felt as if he were in a dream.
His legs were unsteady, and his head was foggy. He blinked a few times, adjusting his eyes to the light.
He wasn't quite sure what had happened, but he had just woken up. As he stretched, his tail flicking up
in the air, his cookie-colored eyes darted around. He didn't recognize where he was, everything was so
unfamiliar to him. What had happened?
He tried to think about the day before, but he still felt dizzy. He had been wondering around his forest,
and stopped to rest, he thought. Had he been moved in his sleep? Had someone done something to him?
His worry started to build. How would he find his way back home? What was he going to do? He stepped
forward and took a deep breath.
"It looks like I have a mystery to solve," he said to himself.

Perrine was lost in the midst of a wonderful dream. The dream-sea lapped around her paws, neither cold nor hot but somehow just the right temperature. She stared up at the dream-sky, relishing the peaceful ocean scene, the feeling of the wind whipping through her mane... the warmth of the sun on her face...
...something tickling her nose...
Perrine shook her head impatiently, snorting as she tried to clear her nose. Despite her best efforts, the tickling continued, growing worse and worse, and as the tranquil seaside environs around her started to fade away, her last memory was of an overwhelming need to --
"ACHOO!" Perrine was blown awake by the force of the sneeze, jerking upright and shaking her head round like a wet dog. As she came to her senses, she realized -- to her great surprise -- that she was no longer in her warm, comfortable bed, which she'd drifted off in last night. Instead, she was lying in a strange grassy area, the blades of grass having been what had tickled her nose so. The air around was so thickly fogged that she could barely see a few vague silhouettes of tree trunks beyond the mist.
Just as she was getting to her feet to have a look around, a sudden voice made her freeze. It sounded close, from behind her, and it had said something-- but what, she'd be hard-pressed to say. Perhaps something about a mystery...? Or was that her own puzzled mind filling in the blanks? Instantly on high-alert, Perrine peered alertly around the clearing.

As soon as he'd muttered those words, wind began to play with his fur, sending an uncomfortable shiver down his spine.
He suddenly got the feeling that he wasn't alone. He shifted around on his paws, worry digging deep into his stomach.
He didn't like to feel like this. Had whomever messed with him come back? A growl formed in his throat, and his claws
dug into the ground. His heart was still pinched by fear, but his animal instincts were telling him that if it was the culprit,
they were about to be in big trouble.

Perrine shivered as a sudden wind dug down through her thick coat, making her feel chilled despite herself. The mist, suddenly oppressive, bore down all around her, almost as if it was trying to hush her-- prevent her from hearing any more of what she'd heard-- but as if mist had feelings, and an agenda! Perrine shook herself impatiently, the sound of her ears flapping against her head suddenly seeming overly loud. This was no time to be having foolish thoughts. This was a Crisis Situation, and she would be ready to face it as a true rationalist would be. Mist with emotions... magical wind... pffft. How silly.
Her courage rebolstered, Perrine stepped boldly into the mist, pressing herself low down into the ground as she tried to pinpoint again where, exactly, she had heard those words coming from. The wavering fog all around made it difficult to remember, but just as she was despairing of getting her bearings again, she heard something else-- a low growling. Quickly, she spun, darting in that direction. This misty, irresolute place was certainly somewhere she wouldn't want to get in a fight, but hopefully-- if she could assess the situation fast enough-- one wouldn't have to occur.
Perrine wound her way swiftly through the sparse trees, which promised to yield to a greater forest in time, her paws crunching on the dewy grass but otherwise making no sound. Ahead of her, she saw a shadowy shape-- it was too irregular to be anything but the most misshapen tree, and she paused, moving with utter stealth so that the other creature-- whatever it was -- could never have heard her approaching. As the figure became more sharply outlined in the mist, Perrine couldn't help a quick intake of breath.
It was another viscet! That mane, the narrow muzzle... it was unmistakable. Although she knew that just because they shared a species didn't mean that the other would necessarily be friendly towards her -- who knew what the viscets in this part did for a living? -- nevertheless it was a great relief to be dealing with the familiar, the known, rather than some implacable enemy she'd never seen.
(sorry if this is too long//)

Riddle
Riddle dared father into the unknown. He kept his body crouched low and his tail high, flicking it wildly.
His eyes never stayed in one place for more than a second. He was determined to find something to give
clues as to why and how he was there. Still tugging at the back of his mind was the feelings that he wasn't
alone, and it kept his heart beating fast.
Another howl of wind gushed past, picking up the scent of another creature. Riddle instantly froze, and his
ears perked up. The creature was close. He could practically feel it staring down at him. He dug his claws
deep in the ground, ready to pounce. And then - there! He could see something, the silhouette of someone.
He didn't waste and second and bounded off, pinning the creature to the ground before he could get a good look at who - or what - it was.

Perrine tensed as the other viscet turned -- they must have heard her gasp -- and narrowed her eyes, preparing herself for a tense encounter. A second later, she found herself pinned to the ground by a pair of powerful paws, trapped before she even had a chance to defend herself. Perrine closed her eyes for just a second and cursed herself -- she should have been ready for the other to attack immediately -- and in a single rapid-fire thought took stock of the situation. Looks like this viscet's been in a fair few fights, reflexes good, matches me in strength-- if they don't exceed me. And they have the advantage right now. I don't like my chances in this fight.
Instead of trying to attack back, Perrine -- with a great effort-- dispelled the tension in her limbs and deliberately relaxed her muscles, lying limp beneath the other viscet. Turning her head to the side in deference, she spoke. "I don't want to fight," she said to the other viscet, trying to inject as much sincerity into her voice as she could, although she couldn't hide the strain. "I don't know where I am right now, I woke up here without recognizing this place... my deepest apologies, if I have intruded upon private territory."

Riddle
A growl was forming in Riddle's throat as he tackled the creature to the ground.
He could feel the creature tense and go limp under his weight. It was then when
he got a good look at the creature, and to his surprise, it was another Viscet. For
a split second, he thought he was looking at a reflection of himself.
"I don't want to fight," the Viscet said, her voice of a female's. He shifted his weight
around on his paws, still pinned on top of her. He looked sightly to the side, not wanting
to believe that this was the culprit.
"I don't know where I am right now, I woke up here without recognizing this place... my deepest apologies, if I have intruded upon private territory." She squeaked.
He tumbled backwards, letting her go. His eyes were wide, and his heart beat uncontrollably.
"W-what?" he stuttered, staring at her. "You too?" He wasn't sure how to react, and maybe it was
risky letting her go, but he couldn't help himself. Her choice of words were so strange..

Perrine squeezed her eyes shut as she felt the paws holding her tense, certain that she was about to be knocked unconscious. Curse it! Whatever's brought me to this strange place... surely meant me no good... The other viscet made a sudden movement, and Perrine cringed in anticipation of the next blow-- only to gasp as the pressure on her chest suddenly disappeared. Coughing, she blinked and was surprised to see that the other viscet had actually backed off -- had they realized that she truly meant them no harm? Had they been confused, as she had, by the mist? She took in the other's appearance-- they were a male, with a dark pelt that stuttered abruptly into the purest of whites from his chest onward and a dark-brown mane. He looked cautious -- frightened, even -- but not vicious or in fighting position. He opened his mouth to speak, and--
"You too?" the other viscet said, and Perrine paused for a second, utterly confused, you too what? and then it hit her.
"You-- you also woke up here, with no memory of how you got here..." she gasped, taking a step towards him and then stopping herself-- he was still dangerous and on-edge, she reminded herself -- and yet she couldn't help it. He could be lying, a masterful actor, trying to manipulate her -- but just the implication that someone else was sharing in her mystifying experience, that she wasn't alone, or crazy and delusional to have dreamed all this up, was so comforting that she felt irrationally friendly towards the other all of a sudden. "This... isn't just a dream? It happened to you, too?"

"You-- you also woke up here, with no memory of how you got here... This... isn't just a dream? It happened to you, too?"
Riddle eyed this girl, his curiosity growing with each word she spoke.
He shuffled his weight around on his paws again, something when he
did when he was nervous but didn't want to show it.
"Yes," he said, trying to chose his words carefully, taking a long time to do so. "I think."
"Who are you?" He asked, not wanting to go any further without knowing whom he was talking to.
