Mikami turned, a smile grazing his lips. "Hello there, Light."

Light made it back the the hotel, setting the cake at the edge of L's bed. His eyes were downcast, and his hair fell freely in front of them. "Here's your cake." He murmured, slowly walking out of the room.

"Something wrong?" L asked, taking a bite out of the cake.

Light shook his head, "No, L...er...Ryuzaki." He quickly corrected himself, heading out to the living room, hugging his car tightly.

[Muse.]

(I don't like the sound of 'Discussion Circle')

L bit his lip. "Light?" he called. "What happened while you were getting cake?"

Slowly, he walked back into L's room, getting up on the bed, and grabbing onto his arm, tugging on his sleeve. He seemed distraut, his inoccent eyes filled with tiny red sparks like Kira's used to. "Are you really...trying to kill me...Ryuzaki...?" He begged for an answer, his form shaking. "Is that why you adopted me? To get rid of me?"

L shook his head. "I'm not trying to kill you," he said. "I'm not a murderer."
