Oakstar nodded and started walking out of his den signaling with his tail for Mist to follow. " All cats old enough to catch their on prey, gather here beneath highrock for a clan meeting." Oakstar called from the High rock and then turned to Mist. " Go sit beside Leopardpaw for now" He said flicking his tail to show where she was.
Mist lightly padded over to Leopardpaw, nodding in return to her welcoming smile. Out of habit, she checked around her to make sure there were no threats. A prickle on the of her neck caused her to turn around, acting nonchalant. A few cats behind her was a cat glaring at her with such ferocity, Mist was sure she'd be on the ground if looks could kill. Suppressing a shudder, Mist turned around to face the front again.
Leopardpaw nudged Mist and nodded up towards the high rock where Oakstar stood. "Cats of Thunderclan, we have a new cat with us tonight, and I hope you will greet her like you would any other apprentice." He said then turned to look at Mist. "Mist, step forward please."
" I ask my Warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice and approve my choice, from this moment forward until she gets her warrior name this apprentice will be known as Mistpaw. Willowtail, you are a great hunter and a loyal warrior, Rufflepelt was your metor and he taught you well, and I expect you to pass on all he taught you to this apprentice." Oakstar said. Willowtail came up and touched noses with Mistpaw. "Mistpaw, Mistpaw." everyone began chanting with Leopardpaw chanting the loudest, that is to say everyone except the tom Mistpaw saw earlier. Leopardpaw walked up to Mistpaw when the chanting stopped. "Congratulations Mistpaw. Come on lets go to the apprentices den." She said and then turned away and walked to the apprentices den.
Mistpaw was nodding and greeting all her new clanmates, but she couldn't get over the tom who'd stared at her so . . . resentfully. Mistpaw wasn't sure why, since she usually resolved whatever the problem was with the cat, but this time she felt seriously unsettled.
(okay, confusion. Isn't Mistpaw supposed to be the medicine cat apprentice? The way you phrased that just makes it sound like she's {Willowtail, I mean} a warrior.)
Mistpaw turned and started following. Willowtail padded up to her. "Mistpaw," She meowed, smiling. "Congrats. I know Whitefoot isn't that big a fan of yours, but it's just that he doesn't adjust to change very well. He'll come around eventually. In the meantime, how about we go out for a training session tomorrow morning. For now, just stick with Leopardpaw and get used to the camp." Willowtail said all this as she was walking next to Mistpaw without seeming to take a breath and managing at the same time to sound reassuring. By now, they had reached the apprentices' den.
"What took you so long?" Leopardpaw asked lifting her head when she saw Mistpaw enter the apprentices de. "You can sleep any where there isn`t already a cat, all of the apprentices are already in here to get rest for tomorrows training." Leopardpaw said then laid her head back down in her nest her tail curled around her.
