Akiko
Sighing, Aki checked the time on her watch. She was a bit later than she intended to be, but traffic was a menace. She was sure her boyfriend would understand. Her boyfriend... she still couldn't believe it. The idea hadn't quite sunken in yet. She wasn't even entirely sure what had happened--one day they were just friends, then suddenly she started to feel something more for him out of the blue, and then he asked her out, and... Well, she was happy with it, to say the least.
With a large but somewhat apologetic smile, Akiko pushed open the door and walked in, immediately looking over toward Mori. "Hey! I finally made it," she called to him.
Tamaki
Tie? Check. It was straight and perfect. Hair? Check. It was combed and styled in a way that looked neat but natural, just the way Haruhi liked it best. Suit? Check. He was wearing his best tux. Watch? Check. A shiny, elegant gold watch that Haruhi had helped him pick out years ago rested on his wrist. He hadn't worn it in a long time, so he was sure that it would bring back memories for her. Shoes? Check. They were polished to a shine. Pocket handkerchief? Check. Haruhi wasn't the particularly emotional type, but he was prepared anyway, and, besides, it looked formal.
...Ring? Check... but he checked again just to be sure, sighing in relief when he opened the ringbox and laid eyes on the beauty he had picked out a few months ago. He closed the box again carefully and tucked it into his breast pocket, where the presence of the handkerchief helped to conceal the bulge.
He gave the mirror in his car a wide grin to psyche himself up before taking a deep breath and stepping out, striding up to the fancy restaurant with a confidence he did not currently feel. Of course she would say yes... probably... hopefully... likely--after all, they had all but started planning the wedding already--but he still wanted everything to go perfectly.
The hostess led him to the reserved table: a small two-seat table next to the window with the best view, and he noticed that, as requested, all other tables had been slightly moved away from it, giving he and Haruhi a little more privacy. As he approached, he looked over Haruhi and smiled. She looked absolutely lovely, dressed up better than he had seen her in a long time. He was sure she was wondering what the occasion was (if she didn't suspect already), but he waited for her to ask, instead simply smiling at her brightly as he took his seat and nodded in thanks to the hostess.
Kyoya
"Hello Katie," Kyoya said with a smile. 'Multitasking,' he also stroked his cat Noel as she sought some attention from him, but Kyoya focused most of his attention on Katie as he asked, "How are you doing today? And how is Digger?"
Hikaru and Kaoru
Kuroi perked up at the sound of his name, which he had learned pretty early on, and looked around attentively, almost tensely, as he sniffed the air. After a brief moment of glancing, his eyes locked with Ageha's, and he gave a small meow that was almost a chirp, looking at her curiously.
"Why?" Kaoru asked.
"Can't we..." Hikaru began.
The two finished in unison, "...treat a friend to lunch?" Both looked at her with mock innocence and curiosity, but their eyes glittered with mischief, and they were obviously planning something.
Of course, their confidence was a bit of facade at the moment. They were about to ask Jessica something that she, more than likely, would find very odd and possibly even unsettling.
Nekozawa and Kirimi
Kirimi looked over toward Bjorn when he called her name, and a smile came to her face as she saw him. "Hi!" she said cheerily, stepping up with arms open for a hug to meet him as he ran at her.
Neko smiled in amusement at this. He fidgeted with the hem of the new jacket he had bought, still feeling a little uncomfortable with it. He had, over the years, adjusted his wardrobe to be more "normal," at least for when he left the house, but he was always in black and gray. At Kiri's encouragement when they went clothes-shopping yesterday, though, he had bought a muted blue lightweight jacket, and he wore the lightest gray shirt he owned underneath. He pushed his sunglasses up a little higher on his nose (after all, photophobia was still a real eye condition, even if he was getting over his mental heliophobia) and tugged the sleeves down on his jacket (as protection for his photosensitivity) before stepping out of the car. He was still wearing black pants, though he was wearing jeans, which were ever-so-slowly becoming his new normal instead of the slacks he used to wear anytime he had to look presentable, and he wore black tennis shoes.
"Jessica," Neko called softly to get her attention, and he watched carefully to see her reaction to the newfound color in his outfit, even if it was only a little bit of muted blue.
(So, as I was writing Neko, I realized that even though I'd made mental pictures for how each of the other canon characters had progressed after the end of the series I just... hadn't really developed one for him? I didn't put very much thought at all into him, really. So, I've decided that, though the show sort of made it sound like Neko only had photophobia (abnormally high visual sensitivity to light), it makes more sense considering the actions he took that he also had photosensitivity (this comes in many forms, but I can't find a more specific one for when someone gets sunburns so easily that they can burn any exposed skin even on a cloudy day) and, of course, heliophobia (the actual fear of light). He's getting more used to dealing with light instead of hiding from it, conquering his fear of it, but the other aspects are medical conditions, so he'll always have to wear sunglasses even on a cloudy day and will have to wear long sleeves or a ton of sunscreen on any given day, sunny or not. I've decided that he already wears sunscreen on his face so that he doesn't have to constantly have a hat or hood, but he prefers to wear long sleeves rather than applying a bunch of sunscreen to his arms, too.)
