1X1 with ~Griffin: Scout and Akane

[Maxella Roe]

"What are you hiding Scout?" She demanded softly. There was tone of annoyance or anger in her voice. She was even and calm as she posed the question.

Scout frowns and puts a paw over his muzzle. "Ami.... Ami has permanent pup syndrome," he murmurs. "From what I can tell, she's a teenager... but with the energy of a child. She doesn't seem to know the difference."

She cocked her head to the side, having no idea what on earth he was talking about. Permanent pup syndrome? What on earth was that? And why hadn't she heard of that before?

Scout turns away from her in anticipation of a negative reaction. He didn't know what it might be, but he knew it might come. So he braced himself.

She just flicked her ears and waited for further explanation from him. Patiently and curiously, unaware of the awkward silence between the two of them.

As the silence drags on Scout becomes more and more uncomfortable. He shifts nervously, and then decides he just ca't handle it anymore. "What are you thinking?" he asks suddenly, his voice loud and echoing around them as he blurts out the words.

She flattened her soft ears and covered them. "I don't know what the heck you're even talking about!" She answered, flicking her ears at the unexpected volume after they'd been so quiet for so long.

He lowers his ears and lays his head against the bed. He sorts through his thoughts about it to put them in the easiest explanation he can. "Permanent pup syndrome... is...." He pauses and starts tapping his paw. "It's when a pup matures mentally but not... physically. Ami will forever have the body of a young child." He turns his face away before he continues. His throat felt tight. He didn't want to say what else came with it.

"Okay..." She didn't quite understand what was so wrong with that. "So she'll be little forever? Is that it?"

"Yes... and she won't have pups, even if she does find a mate," he says even softer. He was nervous to be telling her this, that was all. If she didn't care he would be very happy, and he would feel even better about her staying and being his mate.
