As soon as the larger man had approached the red-headed woman, Flick had an inward thought of: ohh...crap. He should've known that something was up with this woman. Perhaps that was why she'd so blatantly ignored his advances. In a way, it actually made Flick feel a lot better about himself due to the fact that perhaps this was the reason it hadn't worked. It made him feel better--but only for a brief moment when he realized that this woman's 'boyfriend' or brother or...whatever...was obviously not pleased with Flick. Not only that, but he was the type that was incredibly tall and powerful looking, leaving Flick to feel a little small. He tried to take a step back, only to feel Alphaess approach from up behind him and he stiffened. To her words, Flick frowned and was about to say something when she suddenly gave him a quick, cold slap to the cheek. Flick looked extremely indignant about this and was about to say something, had he not picked up on her tone of voice: it was an act .Flick shut his mouth as Alphaess went on to the man, apparently naming Flick as her fake husband. In any other situation, Flick would have most definitely teased her about that but it wasn’t the time. Flick offered a fake grin, giving an innocent shrug as Alphaess mentioned drinking. Before Flick actually had a chance to say anything to the man, Alphaess had grabbed him and dragged him away again.

"Trial and error," Flick decided to say once she'd stopped, in a response to her comment. "These women are a whole different...type. I'm more used to the Bowerstone type. You know, the..." Flick's expression dropped upon him realizing that Alphaess wasn't looking directly at him, but rather his pocket. Oh, crap. Flick came to the realization that when Alphaess had dragged him away, she must've somehow managed to grab his coat, which he'd forgotten to take off upon entering the tavern. Perhaps he thought the rune would be good luck, but perhaps not. The rune frequently picked up on his emotions when it was close to him and, when the man had appeared, it must've changed to a red (which either meant Flick was angry, anxious, or fearful) and there was a warmish, pleasant glow emitting from his pocket. Flick winced at Alphaess's inquiry, and he lifted his gaze to see that Blaire had taken notice. Mordecai seemed more interested in conversing with the innkeeper, so he hadn't noticed but...

"Uh--what? Nothing!" Flick said quickly, shoving his hand into his pocket to push the rune out of sight. It worked, but only slightly. The red glow still emitted from the pocket so that Flick had to shove his hand into his pocket and block out the light. He managed a fake grin at Alphaess. "Ehr...you win. Sure showed me. Wh-what punishment do you have in mind?" His previous cocky, confident appeal had dropped away at once and now he seemed a bit more jitery and nervous. God, the rune. Why had Flick even decided to bring it in the first place? Even if there was a chance that it could've been stolen at Alphaess's house, Flick figured it would have been safer there than with him on the road. And yet, a part of him had been torn. The rune seemed to somehow give Flick confidence, whether it was in a physical fight or just in general. After all, would Flick really have been able to stab Sabre in the back with a dagger had he not had the rune with him at the time? He didn't think so. He'd barely known Alphaess at the time; there was a better chance that Flick would have turned around and ran at that point, leaving Alphaess to fend for herself. But with the rune? With the rune he'd wanted to hurt Sabre. It was...strange.

"Look, ah...it's kind of hot in here, isn't it?" Flick said suddenly, lifting his hand from his pocket to hold his hands up in a surrendering manner. Despite all his claims at being a good actor, Flick wasn't always the best performer under stress and it was definitely different with the rune at stake. If Alphaess figured out he'd stolen it...again...they had a serious problem. She'd reacted terribly the first time that Flick had shown it to her and if she discovered that he'd decided to steal it, well...he wouldn't know what might happen. There was no doubt in Flick's mind that she'd force him to return it, or do it herself. But he didn't want to part with it! Flick took a careful step towards the door of the tavern. "Ehr, I think I'm going to, ahm, go get some...air." He decided to say at last, assuring that his voice was smooth with no hints of any 'jumpy' nervousness.

The response Alphaess had received had of course did nothing better than making her get even more interested in whatever this thing Flick was obviously trying to hide from her. This nervousness was nothing about the bet they had previously. Thinking about it, Alphaess sure had to find some interesting punishment for her win. Oh, winning did feel good, but still, there was something wrong, which she ought to find out. With Flick trying to make a distracting gesture, Alphaess had tilted her head to the side, glaring at him in a rather surprised way. This was really strange. When he took a step back, towards the tavern door, the Heroine fallowed with taking a step towards him. "Why so tense? What are you hiding there?" Alphaess called with a slightly playful voice, looking at his face in a confused way.

Immediately after, Alphaess had exended her hand towards his pocket with a very quick move, reaching to the thing that was sitting inside his pocket. Actually. She was acting strange. She wouldn't normally take something that belonged to someone else, but this was different. With a move that a thieft could do, Alphaess backed away after gripping the little thing inside of her palm, and moved it close to her face before opening her palm to reveal... the rune? The Heroine had made a loud gasp, clearly wasn't expecting to be that close to that thing. What? It should be miles away from them right now, resting somewhere safe in the Guild. Locked away for good. Alphaess could drop the rune if she wasn't that shocked. Her mouth opened to say something, but nothing came out of her mouth. Her golden eyes were locked on the smooth surface of the rune, which seemed to give off a red-ish glow. After a second or two, when the first shock was finally worn off and Blaire had been also staring at the thing finally decided to speak, Alphaess snapped out. "Ooh! Pretty! What's that shinny thing?" The bandit had seemed to locked her eyes on the rune inside Alphaess's hand, staring at it with interest.

Alphaess's teeth had been bared, but not in a grin. She had turned her head briefly to glare at the bandit. "Shut up, its nothing you should know about." After Alphaess's growling, Blaire had had seemed to be quite irittated as she sunk on her chair, probably would cross her arms if she could, growling something under her breath like a brat that had gotten punishment for something she had done bad, like breaking a vase or something. But Alphaess's attention had back on Flick, and she was not happy, definitely not happy at all. Alphaess had placed her hand on the counter, covering the rune with the palm of hand, as she didn't wanted any other eyes drawn on the rune.

For a second, Alphaess couldn't even think about anything to say that wasn't a swear or was simply shouting. "Okay, before I actually harm you in a way that would make explaining impossible, I give you five seconds to say whatever you have to say." Alphaess snapped, clearly was trying to keep her anger in control but it didn't seemed to work very well. She also sounded... disappointed. Broken. She wasn't expecting this. She would expect if he would steal a bag of money from a damn merchant. He was a thieft? That, she would never expect. Stealing from the Guild? That was off limits even for someone like Alphaess. She had her hand above the rune, mostly looking like a claw over it, trying not to let her palm touch it, but not eager for it to fall off from her hand. Her eyes avoided meeting Flick's gaze, disappointment clearly visible in her eyes that were on her hand covering the rune at the side.

But clearly, Alphaess wasn't that sucsesful at keeping her anger contained. She had received a few odd glances sent over her way. Growling under her breath, she let go of the rune on the counter (nothing really would happen to it, right?) and moved towards Flick, grabbing him once again from the collar, but this time filled with anger and slightly gripping to his skin meanwhile, probably a little painful as she pulled the conman out from pulling his collar and the flesh her fingers had gripped on. Settling this in a more silent place sounded like a better idea at the moment, so, the Heroine headed for the door once again, ignoring the glances she had gotten from the surrounding people. But thinking the lady's last behaviour, they would probably counted as a 'couple with some problems'. Pushing the door open, Alphaess exited the building and finding a silent spot outside, Alphaess finally shoved Flick against a wall. This time she didn't even spoke, still waiting for her last question to be answered. Glaring at him with an accusing look, Alphaess rested her hand above the sheath of her swords.

Flick felt slightly uncomfortable as Alphaess took a step towards him in an intimidating manner. At this point, he was cursing himself inwardly for being cocky and trying to prove that he could flirt with a few tavern woman. God how embarrassing had that been, and now that Alphaess had found out what he'd done, it only made it all the worse. He flinched and was prepared to move away when Alphaess reached for his pocket, but she was faster. He lowered his hands slightly as she inspected the little rune in her hands. He couldn't think of anything to say. A thief couldn't exactly apologize when he'd been caught out in the open, could he? Flick scarcely took notice of Blaire's sudden interest, for Alphaess had quickly shut her down. She'd set the rune on the counter and cupped a hand over it, assuring that the light wasn't seen by anyone. And, thankfully, it hadn't. Only Blaire had take notice, considering Mordecai's attention was elsewhere and most of the locals were chumming it up. No one would pay attention to the unlucky conman and the Heroine who he feared was about to kill him. Not literally, of course, but with Alphaess...Flick could never figure it out.

Some people had taken notice before Flick could respond. He started to say: "Wait, let me--" He attempted, but to no avail. Alphaess had grabbed him, giving Flick no other choice but to follow. What was with her and grabbing him by the collar? Flick was sure one of these times she'd go too hard and choke him to death--unless that was what she planned on doing right now. People seemed to be looking, but more in an amused manner and not so much concerned. Flick briefly hoped someone might step in to save him, but no one did. Flick was dragged out of the tavern and promptly shoved against a wall, facing a rather angry Alphaess with her hand rested on her sword sheathe. Flick lifted his hands again in the usual mercy gesture, managing to say: "Okay, okay--I took it. But rightfully so; it would have just wasted away back at the Guild! Besides, I thought of it as...an extra reward. For killing Sabre. Uhm..." Then, Flick's words faded away. He was terrible at arguing in his favour, mostly because he knew he was in the wrong. Flick lowered his hands slightly, wincing. "It's not harmful, really! Like...a trinket. Of sorts."

Just then, a glint of something behind Alphaess caught Flick's attention. He averted his focus from her to glance past her, being forced to squint slightly to catch sight of what it might be. Something shiny...armour? But no one in the tavern wore armour, aside from Mordecai and Alphaess (and Blaire, if you counted her attire as armour). Flick didn't have exceptional sight compared to anyone, but he did happen to notice that there was not one glint, but many. People. Someone was approaching them. Flick's eyes widened slightly: whoever these armed people were, they were heading straight for Flick and Alphaess. Flick knew that Alphaess was furious with him at the moment, but part of him said that something was very wrong. Without thinking, Flick carefully reached out as though he was about to touch Alphaess's shoulder. Instead, he actually seemed to be pointing at the approaching...people. Flick slid to the right, prepared to bolt if need be...had there not been a wall to his right. Flick stiffened when he came to the realization that the thing he'd thought was not a wall, but a person. In armour. Flick turned with a surprised expression, managing a quick curse just as the man lifted a sword of sorts and brought the hilt down. He registered a rather blunt pain, then Flick's legs gave way and he collapsed to the ground at the man's feet. He could vaguely hear the sound of armour clinking as the other men closed in, presumably around Alphaess, and then he fell unconscious.

    --

When Flick awoke, it was very cold. He found he was in some sort of sitting-up position, and he couldn't exactly quite register why his head hurt so damn much. Oddly enough, he felt rather hungover in a way. He made a move to pull his hands down to touch the back of his neck, only to come to the realization he could not. He was not seated on a make-shift bed of clothes. The area around him was not wood. It was stone. And his wrists were bound by iron cuffs and shackles to the wall behind him. Flick startled, jerking forward but to no avail. There was no slack to the chain, and he was merely tugged back against the wall. It was quite dark about him, but he could make out that the ground below him was either hay or dirt and there were bars before him and to his sides...a jail. This was a dream. Wasn't it? Flick couldn't be in a prison! He'd done nothing wrong--well, he'd done a lot, but...that wasn't the point. Flick couldn't even stand up, for he was sitting with his back up against a wall and his legs out before him. His wrists were bound.

The pieces of what had occurred before came back, albeit rather slowly. The inn. The bet. The rune...then Alphaess dragging him outside and the men attacking. Could that mean Alphaess was here, too? Flick noted that even though it was rather dark here, it could be day outside. If he had to guess...god, he couldn't even tell how much time had passed since the tavern. He glanced about to his right, trying to make out whatever was in the next over cell. "Alphaess...?" He inquired a little hesitantly. This was not like any situation he'd been in before. Sure, Flick had briefly been in a cell before but that was different. It had been Bowerstone, and he hadn't been chained up to a wall then. He was...nervous. Not like before with Alphaess, but...sort of freaking out.

Alphaess was clearly not amused by the answer she had received. She had a very serious and furious look on face, not quite like her usual cold either. "A trinket? A trinket?!" Alphaess had snarled, gripping on the hilt of her sword. She had no intention on using her sword on him. No, she more like, wanted to scare him. When suddenly, Flick had made a gesture she presumed to touch her shoulder, but instead, he seemed to be... pointing at something. She first thought this was some trick, and wasn't quite eager to turn around... until Flick had moved slightly to the right and... there was a man stopping him from bolting away. Alphaess's eyes widened in shock when his companion's body fell down to the ground. Her grip tightened around the hilt of her swords, but before she was able to draw her weapons, she felt someone grab her from both arms and pull her arms to her back. "Let go! Flick! Wake u-- hey!" The Heroine tried to cry out before she felt another hand covering her mouth and pulling her back. Than suddenly, her vision was also blocked.

It had been quite a time in this drenched cell. Alphaess was... tired. She had let her head fall front, the red hair covering her golden and brown eyes from where she was chained. She was chained tightly to the wall behind with strong metal chains and cuffs around her wrists. Her legs were pulled close to her body. She still had her boots and leggings to cover most of her. Her metal chest plate was taken, however, along with all the equipment she carried on her belt, her shawl and the belt itself. She completely lacked most of her equipment right now. It felt rather cold with just a light sleeveless shirt on top, that didn't even covered her waist. The thick leather gauntlets and the arm guards above were gone too. Luckily the leather band that covered the scar on her left arm was left in place. Alphaess wasn't quite found of showing that to people. It wasn't a good sight, especially thinking that it mostly made nothing more than making people freak out. There had been a struggle for sure, the heroine had some cuts over the elements of clothing she still had on, and the scruffy red hair seemed to look even scruffier as it was covering the eyes. There were one or two bruises over her arms too, but whatever she had done, she really couldn't win the struggle and avoid being captured.

For a while after the men in armour had dropped them off here, it was all silent, other than the water. Water falling from the ceiling and making a pleasant drip every two seconds, without any delay. Suddenly, when she heard something, she let her head fall backwards now, against the cold stone wall. She opened her eyes lazily, the golden eyes seemed to be looking brightly in the low light. They were... more animal like. There was no fear in them however, it more seemed to be anger. "Finally awake?" Alphaess said with a clear but silent voice. Her eyes went on to the other cell to meet Flick's. Surely, Alphaess wasn't quite enjoying the fact that she was stuck with him. Oh, after what he had done, there was no way she would look at him without disgust anymore. How could he even do that to her? Lie to her... It was... all wrong. Ah, actually, what could she even expect? He was a lowly conman, and she couldn't expect him to change.

"Argh, you scum! It was all your fault!" Alphaess snapped, deciding to get all the anger she had out on Flick, bacuse he was pretty much the only person she could shout at the moment. Than her eyes returned on the silvery bars that separated her cell from his. They were made from a pretty strong material she could guess. There was no way she could break them. Well, at least not in this worn down state anyway. After a few seconds passed by, she continued on with accusing Flick for whatever this thing they were in was: "If you never distracted me back there, I wouldn't even be here." She growled, returning her gaze on him, glaring at him with anger, not quite interested in learning what state he was in at the moment. It wasn't her problem if he was freaking out. He better had guessed being a hero also meant this. Well, not quite. Alphaess had no clue what she was here, the guards that dragged them here had been quite silent. And strong. Damn it. Her arms were hurt. And the rest of her body along with it. Nothing too bad though. Alphaess would guess she would end up here someday, but never presumed it would be that.. close. And that easy.

At the sound of a voice from the next over cell, Flick was either relieved, worried, or dreading what Alphaess might say. Relieved--due to the fact that she was with him and would somehow be able to find them a way out (and maybe a little relieved that he knew she was alive, but...that was different). Worried, because if she was in here with him, and not outside and able to save him. And...dreading what she might say because Flick knew right off that she'd blame him for what had happened. And blame him she did. Flick winced and merely attempted to twist his wrists where they were cuffed, in a futile attempt to slip them free. Nothing happened. For once, even having slim wrists didn't exactly help Flick out. The only way he could be able to get free was if he possibly dislocated his wrists, and Flick sure as hell wasn't doing that on purpose. Will? Try as he might, Flick was still disoriented from the hit to the head and he wasn't really able to focus. Was that due to the fact that the rune wasn't with him? Oh god, the rune! It was back at the tavern with Mordecai and Blaire. Speaking of those two, what had become of them? Perhaps they had been captured, too...but the jail seemed near empty aside from he and Alphaess, and what looked to be a figure directly across from Flick. But the figure appeared to be sleeping...

"My fault?" Flick decided to say at last, turning to look at Alphaess. The only good thing about the bars between them was the fact that she couldn't strangle him from here, so Flick may as well take the opportunity. "What did I do? I didn't ask for anyone to knock me out and chain us up here!" He wriggled his wrists to add emphasis to his speech, causing the chains to give a jingling noise. "Besides, I tried to warn you--heroically, I might add. There wasn't anything I could do," He insisted, his speech warbling slightly. Of course it hadn't been heroic. Flick had tried to run, and there was a good chance he would've gotten away with it had the man not been standing near. "Maybe they've got the wrong people." He added in a lower voice, sinking down with his back still pressed to the stone. What would anyone want with a rogue Heroine and a conman, anyway? It couldn't be because of the...rune, could it?

As Flick looked about, his vision slowly adjusted. There were cells all about, but most were empty aside from Alphaess's, Flick's...and the one in front of him. It was probably another bandit or something...but as Flick looked, he noticed it seemed to be a girl. She wasn't chained up like he or Alphaess, and she was simply curled up in the far corner. She could've been about their age or maybe a year or two younger, with soft ginger hair tied back in a scrappy manner. She was asleep. Yet, why was Flick staring? It wasn't due to the girl's looks--no, it was something else. He knew her. Didn't he...? But that had to be impossible. The girl that she resembled had to be back in Oakvale, for that was the last place Flick had seen her at any rate. Her name...god, how could Flick forget? It would come back to him eventually, but it didn't matter. That couldn't be her. Flick averted his gaze from the girl to look back at Alphaess. She seemed to be looking at him with disgust, but Flick couldn't blame her...it was wrong that he'd stolen, he knew that much. But...Flick couldn't even defend himself at this point. Back in Bowerstone, he'd never felt much guilt with the things he'd done. It had been a trait Flick had always been proud of, but now? Now he might be feeling a little regretful. But he'd never admit that.

"...My ass hurts." Flick said suddenly in a sullen manner, shifting slightly up against the stone wall. It was true; this position was extremely uncomfortable for the poor guy and he couldn't move to sit more comfortably. His wrists stung from the tight cuffs and his headache didn't seem to be going away. But he was thinking clearly, more or less, so he didn't suppose he had that bad of a concussion, if anything at all. It just...hurt. Flick glanced in front of him. His feet were free, so he could grab something with his legs if need be. But what was there to grab? Hay. Crap. It looked like they were stuck...Alphaess seemed even more chained up than he, which was sort of embarrassing. Did they not think he was too much trouble? They had no weapons. Flick was merely in his white shirt and pants, as his coat had apparently been taken off him.

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Bargate Prison

"Oh, yeah, most heroic thing I've ever seen! And in case you haven't noticed, I've been raised in this bloody Guild! And in those damn heroes!" Alphaess growled loudly, pulling her arms down, trying to pry them free, but no chance. The response she had gotten from Flick was unexpected, but of course, these bars that separated their cells might be giving that false confidence. She gritted her teeth while listening to the rest of his words, staying silent as he went on. She let her head fall towards again in a bored way as he mentioned getting the wrong people. She had a strong feeling this was in fact, about her. She wasn't the best hero around and she was sure something she had done had returned to haunt her.

"You two going to be silent? Some prisoners need some sleep here!" Alphaess had heard a voice call out from the other side of the place, clearly a male voice. Alphaess thought it was some real prisoner, a bandit or something alike, but the voice was strangely soft for a bandit and seemed to be... familiar. Though Alphaess didn't paid much attention. "Whoever you are, better keep your mouth shut, or I'll literally, bite your fingers off." The Heroine growled into the darkness in anger, running her golden gaze along the cells to see whoever had called out to them. But it was too dark in the place to properly see (even for her, whom had sensitive eyes) and the bars were blocking the view. A tall man seemed to moved forwards, closer to the bars. Alphaess still couldn't see much, other than notice this was a pretty tall man. "Bite fingers off? A creative way I must admit, but I can easily say that I've heard that before." The man didn't showed any signs of anger in his voice and remained his soft voice. Strange. There was something familiar in his voice indeed. What... Alphaess had just came to realise, and it literally hit her hard when she did. "You damn pale faced idiot, what are you doing here?"

Of course Alphaess hadn't mean for the insult to be... insulting, she had even said it with a slight chuckle and a smile on face. The man seemed to return her chuckle with another chuckle. " Ooh, look, a talking balverine in chains. Something I've though would never see. But... Not the talking balverine part." The man replied in a cheerful way, reaching to hold on the the bars of his cell. It was... Silvermoon. What this fellow hero was doing here? Alphaess had no clue. "Oh, also Quiver is here too, in case you want to say hello, but he isn't quite... able to return it." Silvermoon had returned his gaze on the cell next to his, to the man that seemed to be sitting down. He had sighed silently, resting his head on the bars. He really seemed strange... well, he always acted strange, but this way... it was strange for Silvermoon. He was probably the last hero that might end up here. "Silvermoon, stop talking all like a puzzle. Why are you two here?" Alphaess was sick of his games already, so she directly asked for an answer instead. Quiver and Silvermoon. What brought these two here? They couldn't had done something wrong, could they? " It's a quite long story. Usual tasks at first, to check on some part of the royalty, than we had gotten locked up here, tortured for the location of something... I'm not even quite sure about that, but they said they wanted some 'rune' of sorts. I'm alright other than some new scars, which I'm sure you'd love to see, but Quiver...'' Silvermoon stopped, he was... unable to say that. A rune?! Alphaess immediately shot a glare at Flick, but returned her gaze on Silvermoon to listen to the rest of the story.

"His tounge... they... he didn't speak and they told us he really didn't needed it and... cut it out..." Silvermoon was quite... naive for a Hero. If she could, Alphaess would probably pat him on his back right now. "I did what I could for him but... It seemed we couldn't use Will properly here. Bargate Prison is famous for that I guess..." So they were in Bargate. Alphaess mostly had a blindfold (or something similar that she assumed to be a blindfold) while she had been dragged back conscious. She raised her head to inspect the surrounding carefully. She had never been here before... never was that interested in knowing this place either. "So what happened to you? Finally snapped out and massacred merchants or lost control and break a guard's poor bones... Again?" Silvermoon questioned, looking at her direction. She was quite sure he was unable to see Flick next to her, but she wasn't planning to mention his existence here now. "I promise I'll tell you the whole story when I get out ...And you so well know it was an accident. And the guard asked for it." Exchanging stories. That was one thing she enjoyed to do with Silvermoon around. To be honest, Alphaess enjoyed his company. He was quite naive and good all the times but still... He was fun tom have around. Being mostly cheerful and all... Her response had made Silvermoon chuckle, loudly, probably recalling some old and interesting memories.

She had seen a whole lot of time with Silvermoon during her stay at the Guild. Even though Alphaess has appeared to be an anti-socail person, she did had a few friends. Though Alphaess wasn't quite sure why she was rethinking about nthis at the moment. She actually felt... more at home with him around. She opened her mouth to say something, but was hardly interrupted with a shouting voice coming from a distance, yelling at the prisoners to be silent, along with some unpleasant swears. So Alphaess kept her lips shut and stared down at the ground. She had just came to realise she had been chained to a wall in one of Albion's most secure and famous prisons. What had she done this time to get herself into this? The rune? Who really would like that thing? And who else than the Guildmaster knew about it? She let a silent sigh and let her head backwards, resting it against the wall.

"Tell me about it." She whispered, her voice low, but enough for Flick to hear. She had many painful bruises right now, and it was so cold right now. She really wished she wore more clothing, but no one could really blame her for not predicting that she would get chained to some damn cold wall with water dripping from somewhere that she didn't even wanted to think about. She slightly wondered if Flick was able to notice her bad condition: Having her clothing slightly ragged and looking all tired. She had to make an explanation. "These guards... They are damn strong, giving a good hell of a fight." She growled with a low tune, moving her wrists slightly in chains. These chains were also making her wrists have a quite... sore feeling. It felt weird to be chained up. She had never experienced this before. It was really strange being unable to move her hands at will. She let out anther sigh and turned her eyes on the ground. She was a Heroine, how could she be here? She did made a few bad tasks like unintentionally hurting a guard and all, but this... It was all too much. She had to be strong. She should had been able to be strong enough to get them all out but... she wasn't. The guards were stronger and she was all bound by these chains... She felt weak... and small. Probably for the first time in her life, she was all useless...

Flick was about to respond to Alphaess when a voice came from far off in the other cells. A very familiar voice, to be precise. Flick stiffened and glanced out at the rows upon rows of cells, but he could not pinpoint anything...ah, there! Two side by side cells, each with its own chained figure. One of them slight and tall, and the other more stout but short. While Flick did not know these two on a personal level, he would recognize them almost instantaneously. After all, Heroes had a way of being known for very peculiar appearances. Silvermoon had a similar body type to Flick, and yet he probably had a good inch or two on the conman. On the other hand, Silvermoon had nearly a foot on the other Hero, Quiver. Quiver had been the same man who'd beaten Flick up during his test, and while Flick held no ill will to the Hero for doing so, he was startled that two very competent heroes would end up in a prison like this. As Alphaess and Silvermoon conversed, Quiver had oddly enough stayed silent, but he seemed to be looking at the two of them. At the mention of the rune, Flick winced and caught Alphaess's brief glare in his direction. Oh, god...now he knew what Alphaess meant by mentioning it was more than just a trinket. Something else was at work here, and Flick wasn't so sure he wanted to find out. And to think, this all could have been avoided had Alphaess simply ignored the merchant stuck in the mud in Darkwood...maybe Flick would have met a more suitable fate there, than sitting here to rot.

Then, the conversation changed to that of Quiver. Flick listened disinterestedly and did not quite make a move to say anything, until he heard the words: 'His tongue...they...he didn't speak, and they told us he didn't really need it and...cut it out...' There was also another mention of being unable to use Will, who he as probably the reason Flick felt so disoriented. Quiver's tongue had been...removed? Flick anxiously moved his arms slightly where they were bound to the wall. Oh god. He felt like he was going to be sick. What if they removed Flick's tongue? He wouldn't be able to make puns! Ehr, not that 'puns' were Flick's major concern at the moment, but still. He liked having the ability to speak. It must've been pretty hard on the two if they'd been submitted to such tormenting. Flick was a person of average pain tolerance and he frequently overthought things. It didn't help that he was panicked. What if they questioned him? He didn't know if he'd be able to stand that.

A man yelled out in the distance for the prisoners to shut up, so Flick obliged. He didn't think Silvermoon or Quiver knew he was here yet, but that was fine by him. He just needed some time...to think. After all, that was what Flick was best at. Not Will, not acting...thinking. Flick let his head fall forward slightly and he listened to Alphaess's comment about the guards. Of course, Alphaess would be the one to think about fighting. Not all solutions had to do with fighting, and so...was there not another way out of this? Flick briefly mulled over his options. He could, a) sit here until whatever happened, happened. (He didn't like this option, especially since Silvermoon had mentioned the whole 'tongue cutting out' thing), b) pretend to go crazy and hope they took pity on them. But no, Flick wasn't a fan of that either. It would be undignified if it didn't work and...Flick didn't have the energy to do so. He was tired, despite the fact he'd been unconscious for so long.

Then, there was option C. Flick figured it would be hard to pull off, but...it might be the only plausible solution. He'd never done it before. Would these guards really be dumb enough if Flick were to, say, play dead? It was natural to assume a panicked prisoner might succumb to a heart attack or the like, and Flick had taken a hit to the head. For a person like Flick, it was probably easy to assume he hadn't been strong enough to take the hit or he was merely just a cowardly, frightened merchant who'd had a panic attack that led on to something more severe--like cardiac arrest. He briefly considered telling Alphaess and yet...no. He couldn't risk it--not when his voice carried quite easily here. Besides, he needed to assure that his plan would not fail and despite the fact that Flick trusted Alphaess (even if she hated him right now) that still might lead on to the slightest chance that his plan could be disrupted.

"I just need to sleep," Flick said at last in a soft voice, assuring that the guard would not hear. "We can figure out...what to do in the morning," He made it sound as though he was not himself. He sounded more tired, less wired and not at all sarcastic, which was unlike him. If he sounded sick or defeated, then good. It would further the chance that they believed he'd succumbed to his head injury (which was practically non-existent, but they didn't need to know that). That would help Flick carry out his plan even better. He had to stick to this, however. Flick looked over at Alphaess once more, and then turned his head back and closed his eyes. Come morning, he had to stick to this. No going back. For the first time in what seemed like days, sleep came swiftly and soundly, and soon Flick was out cold.

Upon Flick's weak reply, Alphaess was quite.. surprised. She was expecting something more energetic... something more... Flick like. "O-okay... I guess that works." She murmured in a low voice, resting her gaze on the cold stone floor. Sleep... That didn't sound right. Ah... Silvermoon. Quiver. Even these two were here... Something was really wrong here, and sleeping... it just sounded like giving in. But some rest did sounded good at the moment, especially after the little 'fuss' she had with the guards while she had been dragged up here. Hm, she could had done good damage, if she had an actual weapon instead of bare hands. Now she had to focus on something else. If she couldn't fight her way out right now, she would wait for a better opportunity that she might catch later. She could make out of this, one way or another. Alphaess leaned back as much as she could in her current position and let her head fall against the cold wall. Not quite comfortable, but would work for a few hours of sleep. If she was going to get through this, she did required to keep her energy.

    -----

No sunlight seemed to enter the place at all. It had been, probably hours now. The heroine was able to catch some sleep, maybe a few hours, maybe a night's rest. Completely clueless about the time, Alphaess could guess that it should be around dawn at the moment, considering the torches were almost burnt out, it was more likely a torch was enough for a day or something. Alphaess had a painful backache. And one in her neck to accompany it. Her wrists moved a little, to try if they could finally.be free, but like yesterday, no avail. They were chained to the cold wall tightly. Alphaess pushed her legs away from her body, slightly trying to stretch them. Than, rather lazily, she let out a yawn, her eyes immediately searching for something. Looks like, this all thing wasn't a bad dream. She was still locked in a cell with cold chains around her wrists. Great.... it was just the way Alphaess liked to wake up. Leaving sarcasm aside, Alphaess looked around her, her golden gaze turning to the cell next to hers. Flick... he was still there, asleep as it seemed. Than the other cells. Silvermoon. She really couldn't see anyone from this angle, but she had a feeling the cheerful hero was still there.

Briefly, Alphaess looked around. There wasn't much to do around. Boredly, Alphaess moved her wrists in a circular motion, making a faint noise that echoed in the prison. Alright. Chains. Argh, how much she hated those! Alright, Alphaess, stay calm and sane, if you go feral beast right now, it wouldn't be that helpful. Without her hands to brush her hair aside, she could hardly see her surroundings. This isn't gonna turn out good. Oh, Guildmaster... She could even ask for his help right now. Than, suddenly, her eyes picked up motion, hearing some voice filming along with it. Guards were coming. Two guards entered Alphaess's view. Shortly after the third one followed. These men... Alphaess had immediately known their uniforms. They were the men that brought them here. It seemed they were doing... a count. Checking on new prisoners.

One of the guards moved towards the cell next to hers, the one that Flick was still asleep. The other opening her cell's door. But, there was something wrong. As soon as the guard went by Flick and couched, Alphaess could easily tell something wasn't going right. The man was trying to check his breathing? The other one that was trying to find the correct key to Alphaess's cell had stopped whatever he was doing and moved towards the other. They were talking silently to one other. The other guard jabbed Flick with his feet on his side, trying to get a reaction. What? What was happening there? Damn it?! Alphaess was watching it all with widened eyes and in shock. What was wrong with him? The third one, that appeared to be a warden or something had questioned Flick's state. The answer was... dead!? No! That couldn't be true! Alphaess opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She watched the guards as they were discussing about the situation. Alphaess let her head fall forwards, her hair covering her eyes. Dead... She would.never expect him to be... that weak. He had gone through much, haven't he? Now... why Alphaess couldn't really believe it. Her eyes shutter close for hardly two seconds before returning her hurt gaze on the guards.

The night had been rather cold in the cell, but Flick awoke early. He cautiously opened his eyes, stole a brief glance at Alphaess's cell, and came to the realization that she might still be asleep. There was very little light, but he refrained from moving his head too much. As soon as he noticed her wrists moving, Flick moved his head back to its earlier position and closed his eyes again. What exactly made him feel like this would work at any rate? People could tell if he was breathing unless, of course, Flick was pretty subtle about it. He stayed silent and allowed himself a few, heavier breaths before the guards might come in and from there he had to stop. Not stop breathing, of course, but be cautious about his chest rising and falling. The most unbearable part was the fact that Flick could not even open his eyes to check whether the guards were looking at him or not. He heard footsteps approaching his cell. Flick tried to appear 'dead' quiet at this point, not even daring to breathe through his mouth...or at all. As soon as one of the guards came to Flick's side, he refrained from stiffening. This was a lot harder than he'd originally predicted, considering that a single twitch or a single breath could give away his ploy. As soon as the guards began to converse, Flick allowed himself another quick breath before going still once again. The guard had approached him and given him a jab to the side. Sure, it hurt, but Flick made no reaction to this aside from an inward: Owwch... But to the guard's comment, a small start of either hope or relief came to Flick and he refrained from sighing aloud. Dead people didn't sigh. They...were dead. No movement.

There was a rather selfish part of Flick that desperately wanted to see Alphaess's reaction to this. Oh, sure, it seemed weak, but would she at least be a little...shocked? Worried? He had no idea. He couldn't even open his eyes to see so he merely just had to listen. Something was stooping over Flick now, and he felt something grab the chains just above his wrists. Unfortunately, this was around the part where Flick was a little unsure as to what to do. Where exactly would he be taken? He could just hope for the best that these guards would be too dumb to listen for a heartbeat. As long as he remained calm, they surely wouldn't be able to hear a panicked heartrate. Suddenly, there was a feeling of the cuffs about Flick's wrists being loosened. Right--he had to play dead. As soon as Flick's hand was completely loosened he allowed it to drop to one side and, upon the last cuff being removed, Flick completely slumped to the side. He could hardly contain a complaint at how nasty this hay must be. Seriously, did they ever change it...? Besides, how would people, ehr, 'relieve' themselves around this area anyway? The very thought nearly made Flick give up his act, but he couldn't. Not when it was working so far.

Something (or rather, someone) grabbed Flick by his ankles and gave him a tug in the opposite direction. This sort of reminded Flick briefly of Mordecai dragging him through the woods in a similar manner, but Flick was supposed to be 'dead' here, anyway. It seemed extremely undignified to be doing this, but Flick had done plenty of undignified things. This was no different, especially if it got him a way out. He could hardly contain the grimace as the man dragged him completely out of the cell and onto the hard cold stone of the corridor. Great. If he didn't have a head injury before, he probably had one now. But Flick allowed the man (at this point, he presumed to be a guard) drag him out and stop there, supposedly holding Flick by both legs while the cell door closed after. At this point, Flick had even more options as to what he might do. He could drop the whole 'playing dead' act now that he was free and try to take the two men. No--Flick had no experience with hand to hand combat, and he'd surely be put down again without the help of Will or the rune. He could run...yet, he didn't know his way around Bargate prison. Flick would just have to let this man drag him wherever it was that 'dead bodies' went, and go from there. Then again, Flick might have quite an issue if the bodies were, ah, burnt. But maybe it wouldn't come to that.

But he wouldn't say it wasn't extremely uncomfortable to be having his arms out behind him and being dragged in a not-very-gentle manner across the stone floor. As soon as he felt the guard stop, Flick briefly wondered what exactly was going to happen next. Had they discovered him? Had something happened? His heart nearly stopped (which might have been ironic), until he felt the guard give him a wicked tug. Well, apparently these guys didn't treat the dead with respect. Flick was sure that he was going to have more injuries from being dragged around than he was from actual fighting by the time this adventure was done...

At some point, Flick must have blacked out from either hitting his head on a stair or something else. When he awoke again, he almost forgot to play dead and nearly opened his eyes. He was lying on his back and his face was tilted up...something was a little ways to his right, but he couldn't tell if it was a wall or something else. Flick felt something strike him--hard in the shoulder and Flick winced, just as he heard a voice mutter: "Right. I think that's it. Now get out of here before the smell kills me." And to this, Flick knew what he was talking about. Rotted...something was going on here. Daringly, Flick cracked open an eye just to come face to face with a person. A person? The face looking at him was pale with blue eyes, jaw slightly askew...oh god, it was dead. Flick clenched his eyes shut and had to force down either yelling out in terror or just squeaking in discomfort. Dead people! Oh god. This had gone further than Flick would have liked. But just then, he dared to open his eyes again and glance back. He was moving--or, whatever he was on was moving. A cart. Someone in the front was humming a song by the sounds. And, above, a black crowd of birds circled...crows. Flick's second least favourite bird. Had this gone a little too far? But as it looked, Bargate prison was behind. It had actually worked, much to Flick's shock. He must be in some sort of corpse cart, if he had to guess, being pulled by a...horse? Flick had no idea, but it seemed as though he was far enough. He didn't want to go wherever these corpses were going, and those birds were getting awful close. Flick rolled over so that he was on his stomach and lurched forward to grab the end of the carriage, tugging himself forward and, quite promptly, falling off the back of the carriage onto his back. Flick lay, slightly wounded, until he realized the carriage had come to a stop with a curse from the driver.

Uh-oh. Someone was approaching him. Flick tensed, and turned his face up just to see a man...baring viciously over top of him. "You're not dead!" The man exclaimed in a shock. Flick's eyes widened, and he had just a split second to react. The man was a little ways over him, so Flick really only had one option. He lurched up and struck the man directly in the jaw, rolling to the right and backing up onto his feet. The man had reeled back with a shock, but Flick was the one who was about to get the worst surprise.

"Ow!" Flick exclaimed in a high-pitched voice, clutching his fist tight to his chest. The man was just starting to get up when Flick approached and gave him a small kick to the head. It wasn't really all that hard, but the man dropped like a stone. Flick winced and examined his fist, noting that there was blood on his knuckles. He assumed it was the man's but, now that Flick looked, he was pretty sure it was his. And...he was lost in the woods without Alphaess, and only a corpse cart, an unconcious man, and a pretty freaked out horse. He'd been in better situations.

With the guards now working on the chains, Alphaess had started to... panic? It wasn't right. But, whatever she did couldn't stop herself from feeling like she had been hit hard from the head. She might had even gasped as she had seen Flick's body fall limp to the side. Eyes widened, Alphaess didn't make a noise. She slightly moved her hands in the cuffs, trying to give a final efforts to get her hands free. She wanted to... check him herself. To help him. Dead? That was impossible.

Alphaess could feel her heart beat inside when she had seen the scene where Flick was being dragged away from his feet. She tugged, or at least tried to, while he passed by her cell, all... lifeless. It was the second she had finally believed. It felt all... wrong. She was... heartbroken. But why exactly? She barely even knew her companion for a few weeks. Maybe a month at maximum. Why was she that worried? Though, still, she regained from saying a single word afterwards. Just... silently watched as her apprentice was dragged away. One other guard returned back to the side of her cell and looked down at her. Alphaess didn't even looked up. The man said something like "This one's fine" than walked away from the bars. Dead... When the man was out of range, Alphaess had her eyes locked in the ground. "Flick..." She said in a whisper, only for herself.

[Flick was... gone? Alphaess's mostly brown eyes went on the now empty cell next to her. She found herself blankly staring at the chains that held the unfortunate conman. How... Alphaess was still far from putting the pieces together. She was confused, not being able.to understand how could he actually... Was it the hit on the head? He was meant to be completely healthy. Or at least, she never expected him to have something lethal. A disease or something... Alphaess had no clue but she felt... lonely. Lonely inside of a silent little cell. The water was still.dropping from the ceiling. But Alphaess still couldn't take Flick out of her mind. Was it her fault? If she had never offered this stupid apprenticeship, she wouldn't be here either. Ah, the rune, how much she wished she had never even seen that. Who knows where it is even right now... Flick... why were you that... weak. Why she didn't left him back at the safety of the treehouse... And was this the thing called guilty? Strange, she rarely had that feeling before... actually, only once or twice before.
