Flick could only offer a slight grin to this. Regardless of the fact that it had been interesting to see Alphaess as a completely different person, she was still herself in a way and he probably did prefer this form of Alphaess despite what he had said. The next few hours or so were a blur for Flick, as he was still a little headache-y due to the hangover. At the very least, his leg pain was gone and it only left what looked to be a slight change of skin tone due to scar tissue about the back of his leg. Flick had very briefly hoped he might keep a scar, and yet it didn't seem like it would happen. A scar at the back of the knee was probably an odd place as well, for not many people would be able to see it. Ah, that was a bummer. Flick always thought that a lot of Heroes had rather interesting faces due to the odd placement of scars. He had one...and counting. Flick always thought that scars defined how a person looked and were rather interesting but, after seeing Alphaess attempt to show off her's, he was a little wary of how she had gotten them all. He could imagine how much it would hurt...mmh, maybe Flick would rather be scar free than to have to go through all the pain of injuries just for bragging rights. It would be cool, though. Maybe across the upper torso or lower back...as Flick was mulling through these thoughts he came to realize that they were back. It was about noon, and neither of them had spoken throughout the trip.

The rope was before them. Flick rolled his eyes at Alphaess's words and gave a dramatized (but lazy) salute and even went as far to give a small bow. "Of course we do," Upon straightening himself, Flick noted that Alphaess had leapt up to the platform. Flick glanced up at the platform. Maybe he could do that. It was a random, strange thought, but Flick thought: just maybe. He hunched his shoulders slightly and jumped straight up, but to no avail. His leap was, unfortunately, entirely human and his fingers didn't even scrape the bottom of the platform. The leaves made a soft crunch underfoot as he landed back down, frowning in disappointment. However, he was at least glad that Alphaess had not seen that failed attempt due to him being underneath the platform at the time. Flick rubbed the heel of his hands together and grabbed the rope. Over the days he'd gotten used to the climb and now it was almost a second nature. Flick was no longer (as) winded as he had first been upon reaching the top and, after a moment, he got to his feet and followed Alphaess to the door.

There, Alphaess was bent down and she seemed to be observing something. Flick paused and approached her from behind, carefully looking past her to observe whatever she seemed to be holding. A blade? Whatever it was, Alphaess's reaction was not good. Flick shuffled back immediately to avoid possibly being in the crossfire of some sort of anger of her's, and yet Alphaess did nothing but turn around and give him a demanding order. Flick set his jaw uncomfortably and thought better against arguing. He really was at a loss as to how he might respond, but he said nothing as she dropped down from the platform and bolted off into the trees...leaving Flick alone. Flick sat down on the edge of the platform and allowed his legs to drape over the end. God, he felt silly waiting here. He was always playing the damsel in distress, it seemed, waiting for Alphaess to deal with a scenario. He'd done well enough the night before when he'd had to carry Alphaess up to a room! So, why couldn't Flick deal with...whatever the hell was going on here?

How much time had passed anyway? Flick felt dumb just sitting here and, regardless of Alphaess's order, he was damn well not going to be the princess who was always staying out of conflict and brushing her hair. Flick was no princess. He'd dealt with the Hobbes, killed a bandit leader...a little 'intruder' wouldn't be too hard to deal with. Flick made up his mind almost immediately and shuffled over to the rope. It was easy enough to slide down from there but, once Flick touched down on the forest floor, he felt a start of regret in his chest. What if this scenario turned out to be similar to the one where he'd gotten ensnared in one of Alphaess's Hobbe traps? ...He'd be careful this time. Flick cast a careful glance over his shoulder and made for the direction where Alphaess had disappeared. The forest debris crunched underfoot, leaving Flick slightly nervous that whatever was lurking here (possibly Alphaess's Balverine) might be able to hear...Flick hadn't seen the Balverine for a while, really. He knew that it was 'protesting' his presence at Alphaess's house or something, but Flick didn't mind. Then again, now that Alphaess wasn't here to stop it, there was really nothing stopping the Balverine from attacking Flick. And would he really be able to defend himself at this point? Flick didn't think so. He whirled about to turn back into the woods when...

He was lost. Where was the path Flick had once been? Flick's olive eyes widened in dismay as he stared down the path he thought he'd come. To the right? To the left? Straight ahead? Oh, great. Just great. Flick had been so certain he could manage to do something proper for once, and yet the conman had gone and screwed up for the possible hundredth time this last few weeks. And, what, he couldn't even ask for directions. Flick closed his eyes and let out a small breath through his nose. Right. Right seemed like the best. Flick took exactly two steps to his right and--his foot made a creaking noise upon the ground. Creaking? Well, that wasn't right. It almost sounded as though Flick had stepped upon something metal, like a pressure pad of sorts. Wait...Pressure pad? Flick's shoulders nearly just dropped in exasperation and only had the time for a thought of: Great. Before, quite suddenly, there was a wooshing sound above him. Flick glanced up with a start to see what looked to be some sort of net plummeting towards him. He had no time for a yelp or even the time to summon Will of sorts before the net was upon him. Flick flinched slightly, but it seemed as though this was the type of net for game of sorts. It would be easy enough to just throw off. For game, the animal might spook and get itself more entangled. Yet, Flick was no animal. He merely assumed this was another of Alphaess's traps and had started to remove it when something large and heavy crashed into Flick and knocked him flat on his back with a whoomph! The breath was knocked out of Flick before he had the time to say or do anything, and his vision blurred. Something heavy was sitting atop his chest and Flick briefly thought it was an animal of sorts. An unfamiliar voice growled out: "Got you! Thought you could run, eh? Not--" The person stalled. Their voice sounded masculine, obviously enough and slightly older than Flick...gravely, in a way. Flick's vision swam and then came into focus. Before him, practically straddling him, was a young man. The man had to be a few inches shorter than Flick and perhaps just a little below Alphaess's height. He was decently muscled--it was clear enough to see that despite the black leather vest type of chest plate he wore with what looked to be a black shirt underneath so that the black sleeves protruded and he had black leather gauntlets as well as what looked to be arm and shin guards. A deep brown shawl was clipped around his neck but the hood was flipped back to expose the man's face. Slightly tanner than Flick with a decent amount of dark stubble hair and darker brown, wavy, mediumish-length brown hair to match. The man's eyes were a deeper brown that was near a black in the lighting, and he stared down at Flick in utter shock. "Holy Avo," The man muttered. "You're not a bandit or a woman." Upon his back, there seemed to be a bow and quiver strapped...

Flick gritted his teeth, seeing as he was practically trapped underneath the net and now a man who probably outweighed him by forty pounds in sheer muscle. The netting pinned his arms to his sides, making it impossible to use Will and the man atop his chest was not helping much. "I guess we're all looking for woman, right?" He rolled his eyes at this and squirmed slightly underneath the man. "Glad you noticed. Now, if you could...? You're kinda crushing my organs here." But, just as he said so, the man whipped out what looked to be a longsword with an amberish tint to it. He placed the tip just under Flick's chin, giving off a devilish smile that exposed his white teeth.

"Not so fast, pal." The man said quickly in a firm tone. His grip tightened slightly, and he slowly stood (yet still with the sword pointed down at Flick). "People don't just wander about this area for no reason. Either you're a halfwit, or you've got something to do with the bandits. Though...their standards seemed to have lowered quite a bit." He knelt down and tapped Flick on the side of the head with the sword tip, much to the poor conman's discomfort. "Usually even a bandit is smart enough to recognize a simple pressure trap." The man sighed heavily and straightened himself, slowly lowering his sword to his side. "Guess I best help you out before you strangle yourself, poor bunny. Then maybe we can introduce ourselves, eh?" With another roll of his shoulders, the man suddenly lashed out with the amber sword and Flick scarcely had the time to flinch before the netting...fell away. The man offered a bright grin, bent down, and took Flick by the ankle in one hand. "I'll start. My title is Quickbeam. And you?"

Flick vaguely noted how the man said 'title' instead of name. Quickbeam? That seemed like a Hero's first name, and yet this man was certainly no Hero. There was no Guild symbol, no Guild seal. Flick winced as Quickbeam promptly turned his back on the conman and faced the opposite direction, holding Flick's ankle over his shoulder and practically dragging him on the ground. Ugh...this was not dignified. Flick made a face as he was literally dragged across the forest floor behind the shorter man on his back with his arms crossed over his chest. He briefly considered using Will, and yet...Lightning? No good. He'd electrocute himself. Fire? Mm, there was a chance he'd only aggravate the man and 'Quickbeam' had seemed pretty lethal with his sword. So, Flick just decided to murmur: "Flick. Seeing as there's a strange 'assassin' man dragging me around the woods by my foot...I guess we should get to know one another. My favourite colour's orange. What's yours?" To this, there was only a small humph and the slightest jerk. Flick fell silent after that. Wherever this man was taking him, it seemed as though Flick could only wait at this point...And perhaps hope that Alphaess would come to help him out soon enough. Quickbeam really thought Flick was a bandit? Well, that was just fantastic. Flick was anything but bandit material. He wanted to say 'just a lowly conman being trained by a Balverine hunter in the middle of the woods. Nothing too special.' But that would seem ridiculous. So Flick stayed quiet--save until he glanced to the right and caught the faintest flash of movement in the woods. Quickbeam seemed to see it, too, for he suddenly averted his direction and caused Flick to hit the back of his head against a nearby tree. "Ow!" He exclaimed indignantly, only to be silenced by Quickbeam turning to look back at him and putting a finger to his own lips with a 'shoosh!'

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Greatwood

The heroine had been chasing something, more like someone for a while now. She could sense her 'prey' but there was something strange. Why would the bandits come here, right into her lair? It was strange, really strange. Even bandits couldn't be that stupid to think they could fight her in her own territories. When they were in the bandit camp, the bandits had an advantage obviously. It was their area and they knew every single inch of the place. But this forest, it was all Alphaess's. The locations of all the trees, rocks and stumps, where Hobbes have nests, the places balverines use as hunting zones... She knew it all. Yet, there was something suspicious about all this. Could this be a trap? From when bandits are clever enough to trap a hunter? Even if this is a trap, which was quite likely, Alphaess would play along. There was a way to see if that was a trap or not. Alphaess halted from her run, looking around for a few seconds, acting like she had lost track. If it was indeed a trap, the target would appear and try to continue the chase. And, as she predicted, there was someone. She couldn't tell who the heck that person was, but it wasn't Sabre for sure. The bandit had a small build and was probably even shorter than Alphaess. Ah, not looking like much of a fair fight, but Alphaess had nothing against it, as long as she had the fighting part. Standing tall, facing the shadowy figure in front, Alphaess bared her teeth and growled silently. The reply of the figure was throwing a blade towards her, which was dodged with ease.

After this action, the chase continued. Now, Alphaess was hundred percent sure that this was all a trap, Prepared for her. Alphaess continued to put the pieces of the puzzle together in her mind. The bandit was one of Sabre's group, the blades were the same as the ones he once used. But Sabre was gone, right? She had seen him get grilled by that lightning but now... Could it be possible that he could survive the lightning? Could he be back? Maybe it was something else. Maybe the bandits are back for revenge but who was leading them? Alphaess had expected them to disband after their leader's death. Pulling her hood down more Alphaess growled something under her breath. There should be a new leader. Or at least a leader-in-charge. She had to clear that person out, if she wanted to clean the bandits from this region. And she was going to do it for good this time.

Alphaess and the 'bait' had came into a clearing. Bad, Alphaess could have done this whole hunting thing quite easier in an area hard to navigate. But, regardless, she wasn't a coward to back away from a fight, no matter of place or time. When she entered the clearing she have noticed she wasn't all alone. There were others. Surrounding her and waiting for signal to attack. Alphaess stood in the middle of the clearing, studying the situation to chose her strategy. Outnumbered? Yes. Outmatched? Not even close. These were just bandits, it was even surprising to see them be coordinated that much. Perhaps their new leader was quite... talented? She never thought she would compliment a bandit but... she just did. In her head of course. Taking a glance at the bandits that finally showed themselves, Alphaess searched for the leader. "What? Your new leader doesn't know the rules of confronting an enemy?" She spoke with a confident and teasing tune, having a sly grin on her face. Her eyes were covered by the hood, so probably only her grin was readable form her face. "Weren't you supposed to make an introduction before I start knocking your men's heads off?" She chuckled silently, still searching for the leader. Ah, she was expecting the leader or whatever that person was to buy that and reveal themselves. These guys often have an even larger pride than Alphaess. Often.

It actually haven't went as planned but still, the silhouette she had been chased reappeared. Now holding a crossbow in one hand and seem to be... talking to other bandits. Wait, that was their commander? You would expect a bandit commander to be a buff man. Anyways, if this man was the one leading, he was definitely going down. Alphaess bolted towards the place she had seen the leader, but was blocked by two bandits; one having a longsword and other holding two short blades in two hands. Ah, well, they asked for it. Alphaess took a step to the right to avoid getting a hit from the one with the daggers. Than the one with the sword attacked. This time, the heroine bent her back and did a some sort of somersault backwards to flee from the incoming blade. Having a flexible body always came in handy, especially when it came to doing acrobatic moves and avoid getting hit. Actually, if this hero thing wouldn't work out, Alphaess probably could always find herself a space in a circus of some kind as an acrobat. With her move, she had enough space in between with the bandits to allow her to finally draw her sword.

A kick to the that one, a blow with the sword to this, Alphaess continued to fight against the bandits. They had a quite larger number, a lot more than she had expected. She still had this under control. It had been a few minutes and she had laid down a few of them already. But being surrounded wasn't quite a good feeling at all. It made her feel trapped and... nobody would like to make a wild beast feel trapped. With a fierce growl, the Heroine kicked at the bandit's already damaged knee with full power. The man's bones couldn't seem to take it anymore, gave a crackling sound and the man collapsed on on knee, giving enough time for Alphaess to finish the man swiftly with a single blow to the neck, also breaking the circle she was in. Now at least she had her back safe and only had to deal with the bandits in front of her. Or at least that what she though until she felt the pain in her shoulder. She looked down at her own shoulder, only to find a blade dug into the soft flesh. With a growl, the Heroine pulled the blade off. She looked down at the blooded throwing blade briefly, seeing it was the same as the one she had seen earlier. Seeing her own blood on the blade... wasn't fun. "Bloody bandits." Alphaess snapped under her breath, glaring at the bandit men now seem to have brighter faces.

Making fun with people isn't a nice thing, but making fun with Alphaess was a dangerous thing. Fueled with anger, the heroine growled and lunged forwards. The blades making contact with the bandits' weapons. Though from this moment, Alphaess wasn't considering playing fair. It wasn't clever to try to fallow the rules when you were playing with bandits. She had pocketed the blade that had hit her already, keeping that for the owner. She placed the swords in one hand, the two of the twin swords making a faint 'click' and becoming a stronger one blade. With the empty hand she managed to grab one bandit from the collar and pull it in front of her, making his body a shield for the incoming blow and while the attacker was trying to remove the sword from their unlucky friend's body, they shared a similar fate. Good thing the number of the bandits were getting cropped, bad thing, there was still a whole lot of them. Alphaess had the feeling that this would take forever.

Her left shoulder was bleeding, paining the tips of her shawl and the leather band into a crimson color. But this wasn't going to stop her either. The pain was tolerable and the wound wasn't too deep. Luckily. After this was done, she would also find lots of time to heal it up too. Maybe she could even use it to let Flick learn how to do the healing spell himself. During all the commotion, Alphaess didn't even had to think about the conman. He better stay where she wanted him to be. Otherwise, it wouldn't be good for him, because he would have both the bandits and Alphaess after him. Disobeying orders was something she had clearly stated in their deal. If she were to see him here... he would wish he was born as a bandit.

Panting slightly, Alphaess backed away by a few steps to catch her breath, though the bandits weren't interested in letting her rest. New bandits were replacing the wounded or fallen ones rapidly. Alphaess growled, using some of her throwing blades to gain space. She wasn't quite sure how many bandits she had to slay now, or if this wave has an end or not. She raised her head to look at their commander. Still haven't moved from his space. She could feel the grin he had on his face. Laughing at her. When she would get close to him, they would see who would be laughing. The coward was too afraid for a one on one fight. Fine, than Alphaess would slay the minions first. But, there was someone else. Behind. Grabbing another throwing blade form the leather bands that held the remaining blades, Alphaaess threw one at the direction she though she heard something. Bandits were probably trying to get behind her to get into a circle. Though she couldn't spend much time and had to return her attention the the bandits in front shortly after. She was still trying to make it through the more forest-y area, but was constantly being stopped by the bandits at halfway. She was happy that she still had her hood on so her eyes were hidden from view.

After a while, it was starting to feel pretty damn uncomfortable being dragged everywhere on his back. Flick shuffled to try and get more comfortable, but he felt Quickbeam's hand tighten about his ankle and the conman gritted his teeth, allowing his head to fall back again. God, of all the embarrassing situations being dragged through the woods by his foot by a shorter man was probably the worst possible situation. What was with Flick and getting trapped in places, especially by his feet? Even his first meeting with Alphaess had involved him getting stuck somewhere. He'd been trapped in the mud and Alphaess had ordered her Balverine to pluck him out like he was some sort of...carrot...in the ground. Ugh, even Flick's similes were starting to lose their clever edge. He felt Quickbeam pull him a little ways away until, finally, the stranger stopped and seemed to be leaning against a tree to stare out at what looked to be a fight. From his position, Flick could not exactly see much except for feet...feet moving about on the forest floor at a blurring rate and also what looked to be several figures slumped on the ground. But Mordecai did not speak. He held his breath and watched, his grip still tight as ever around Flick's ankle.

That was when Flick recognized the voice: 'Bloody bandits.' Oh crap. It was Alphaess, and now she'd know that he snuck out. Flick crossed his arms over his chest and gave a small huff, only to feel Quickbeam kick him lightly in the shoulder to shut him up. The assassin or...whatever this guy was seemed to be watching the fight with great interest. Something whistled through the air towards Quickbeam and he merely moved to one side as it lodged itself in the bark beside his head. Flick winced: a blade like that could have easily cut an ear off or, worse, lodged itself between someone's eyes. It seemed as though the stranger had decently good reflexes, however, for he hardly seemed bothered by the fact that the blade was still wobbling and embedded hardly a centimeter away from his face.

"Feisty," Was all Flick heard Quickbeam say. The man had leaned up against the tree where the blade was embedded and seemed to have drawn his sword, cleaning it with the edge of his shirt while he watched the Heroine before him. He still had one hand gripped on Flick's ankle, however, and it was starting to be rather uncomfortable on Flick's end. The man seemed pretty well-armed in comparison to Flick. Maybe not overly armed in comparison to someone like Alphaess but, still, quite decently armed and probably someone to be feared. Flick really had nothing except a dagger, and Avo knew where that was. Probably back near the Oakvale woods, along with his old travel bag...

Despite the ongoing fight, apparently Quickbeam decided to speak up: "When you ladies are done bickering, I have a preposition for you." And he released Flick's leg, leaving the conman to just lie flat on his back behind Quickbeam. He started to get up into a sitting position and would have gotten to his feet, had Quickbeam not suddenly lifted up his sword and pointed the tip out towards his chest. Flick merely rolled his eyes and flopped back onto his back. The corner of Quickbeam's mouth quirked up in a feigned smile, and he turned back to face the clearing where Alphaess was positioned. Flick had noticed one thing about Quickbeam's sword, however. It was an amberish colour...and there seemed to be something scratched into the leather hilt. The letter S. Perhaps an initial? Or, more likely, the name of the sword. Who the heck named their weapons? It seemed weird. Well, Flick had named a pet rock before but that was a totally different scenario. Naming a weapon seemed sort of weird. It wasn't like Flick was naming his dagger...George...or anything and stabbing people with it. It seemed pretty weird to be stabbing someone with 'George' the dagger. Ah, but Flick was probably getting ahead of himself here. He gave a snort and carefully got into a sitting position, where he stayed. Quickbeam did not threaten him yet, for his attentions were mostly focused on the bandits and Alphaess.

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Greatwood

The fight continued with swords trying to chop her head off, arrows flying over her head and occasionally, blades thrown at her feet. The bandit wave seem to be coming to an end soon. There were many on the ground and a few wounded ones trying to run away. Alphaess on the other hand was fine, other than the minor scratch on the shoulder. If the blade had hit a little bellow, it might be a bit of a problem. Even that the leather band served as a protection over the deep scar on the left arm, it probably wouldn't be enough to stop a blade thrown at that speed. Their leader was surprising fast. Maybe could even match her speed, while she was occupied with a small hoard of bandits. But from what she had noticed, this target was not the one to attack directly. Perhaps hiding after their man was more safe. Also, seemingly, the leader had a good ranged skill too, considering the accurate hits done by both a crossbow and blades thrown. But slowly, Alphaess had started to get tired of this game.

With her sword running through the soft flesh of another unlucky bandit, Alphaess golden eyes were locked on the silhouette, now in front of her, but still having a good distance in between. She pulled the sword back and pushed the man that had fallen over her shoulder away, the body falling down with a thud now. It seems the arena was clean now. Time for the big fight. "Isn't that enough bloodshed to meet what crazy bandit is attacking me?" She snapped, separating the swords back into two pieces. Her right hand and the sword in it was pointing towards the figure, while the other pointing to her left. The figure, seemed to had enough, too, and stepped forwards. Now she could see a slim figure in front of her, a few inches shorter than her. Maybe three or four inches. The figure had reached to the dark coloured hat that covered the head and pulled it down from the front, covering the eyes and only leaving the grin for view. There was a matching coloured jacket covering a white shirt. There seem to be quite a lot of weapons, blades and things alike were hung on the belt. From what she could pick, there even some things appeared to be bombs and smoke bombs. Oh, so, it was looking literally like a walking weaponry.

But of course, Alphaess had yet to see the face, or take a close look at this rival, but she heard something else. Who the heck was this again. Her eyes darted at the direction the sound came from, not eager to turn her back to the remaining bandit, not interested in getting another blade dug into her neck. Her shoulder was still bleeding and was painful, no doubt that she was going to make the bandit pay for it. Her eyes went on the man, who seem to be the one that called. A man, more or less at her height and looking quite muscular. It was obvious this man wasn't one of the bandits or anything. He had some nice 'gear' on, interesting. But quickly after, when her eyes fallowed his sword, the face that was on the quite wrong end of the sword was familiar. How could one be that successful at dangering their head. Ah, Flick, he was in great trouble if he survived that. She had looked down at him with an uninterested and bored look on her face, not willing to show any interest in him, until she really had to save his back... again. Didn't she exactly told him not to do that? He was once again standing in her way. "What kind of preposition is that? I must say I'm quite busy at the moment, so let it be short." She spoke with a confident serious voice.

After her words, her gaze wandered back on the bandit. Bit something else had just came into her mind. "Wait, did you said ladies?" She inquired, raising an eyebirrow slightly. Well, she haven't been too carefully, but taking a better look, she could actually notice it herself. Okay, her prediction about the gender was a little... incorrect. Her question seem to make the bandit chuckle "Aye. Not happy with a 'lady' chat, Hero?" The sound was clearly feminine, slightly softer than Alphaess's, lacking any signs of fear. Than the bandit took a few steps frowards to give the Heroine and the ones surrounding a better look. Not moving the slightest bit from her spot, Alphaess replied. "If that means we are going to braid each other's hair, I can't say I'm quite interested." Well, that might be a strange choice of words, especially that both of them seem to have braids in their hair. "Of course if you're planning to tell me who you are and what you know about me, I'll be more happy to let you finish your words first." Alphaess said in half growling tune, trying to keep her anger in control now. She needed to know who she was first. Not really required it, but she just felt that she had to call her the enemies something cooler than 'that woman with a hat'.

The bandit had reached to her hat and lazily picked it in her hat and done a salute, not quite in respect but probably just to annoy her. Now that her hat was gone, Alphaess could easily see her face. Nothing like she had expected. It was a young and quite attractive woman, around her age for sure. She had raven black hair held in a braid on the back and had a red bandana over it. Her round pretty eyes were a grey-ish shade of green. Even Alphaess had wondered why a such good looking woman was a bandit but... it was obvious. Bandits enjoyed kidnapping such girls from villages at young ages. After being raised in bandits, they would not know another way to live. After the short salute, the hat was placed back over her head. "I know as much as I need to know about you Balverine Slayer." The woman replied quickly and calmly. "About me, I've got many names, just as you do, but it really doesn't matter. Unless you really want to know, better ask the guy..." She didn't seem to in a hurry. She had looked at the man briefly. Honestly, Alphaess didn't even cared if those two knew each other or not, all she wanted to do was get rid of the bandit, drag Flick back and think of a nice way to make him pay. And probably get that shoulder bandaged.

Flick frowned slightly at the sound of another voice, clearly a female. A female bandit? Upon Flick encountering the bandits back at Darkwood he had not seen sign of any 'opposite gender' bandits. If he had, they must have been well hidden for Flick only recalled greasy, facial hair-y men. With his legs lying out before him and his hands on either side of him on the forest floor, Flick watched as the two women spoke back and forth. He could not exactly see the woman's face considering his view was more or less just the back of Quickbeam's legs. But, thankfully, Quickbeam moved aside so that he was more or less standing at the opposite side of Flick and with the flat of his amberish coloured sword rested nonchalantly on the conman's shoulder. Flick made a face at Quickbeam, but made no attempt to push the sword off. Not yet, anyway. He figured he should just stay silent for now--that was, until he heard the bandit woman speak again and address Quickbeam. Did these two know each other? It seemed like that, especially by the way Quickbeam seemed to be staring her down. Ah, this was probably the woman Quickbeam had been trying to find when he'd caught Flick. Obviously enough he seemed to have been trying to 'trap' her so Flick could assume right off that they weren't friends.

"Introductions have never really been my strong spot," Quickbeam mused, pulling his sword from Flick's shoulder and carefully sticking the end into the soil before him so that he may lean upon the blade. "Why don't you introduce me to your new friend, Blaire? Or...maybe this one is already acquainted with her." And he jerked his chin in the direction of Flick. Flick set his jaw uncomfortably and glanced over at Alphaess. Her shoulder seemed to be hurt but, otherwise, she was mostly unharmed. Besides, she probably would not overly be happy if Flick happened to point out she was wounded or show any type of concern.

"Oh, y'know. Don't worry about me." Flick mumbled in a sour tone, crossing his arms yet again. He did not exactly like being considered the hostage or 'damsel in distress' in this situation. "I'm fine. Totally fine..." I'm gonna die. At least this 'Quickbeam' character hadn't done anything to hurt him yet except for pouncing on him. That had hurt quite a bit due to the man being a lot heavier than him, but Flick was still in one piece. But to Flick, it seemed as though Quickbeam was more interested in 'Blaire' than he was in keeping Flick as a captive. Quickbeam had lazily rocked so that his weight was upon his right leg and seemed to be holding his gaze upon the bandit woman. He could tell without looking over them too much that, clearly, these two had a history. While Quickbeam did not seem overly aggressive, he seemed more 'cool' and collected, leaving Flick to believe that they were rivals of some sort. And not the same sort of relationship that Alphaess had with Flick, but rather something more...equal.

"I believe this--" Quickbeam said suddenly, poking Flick in the shoulder with the edge of his amber sword. "Is yours? I found him wandering around in the woods like a lost puppy." Quickbeam's expression changed to that of a grin when an idea suddenly alit his features: "Perhaps you have a reward for his safe return? Here's an idea: a trade. You give me the bandit, and you can have your..." Quickbeam suddenly frowned, and then looked down at Flick as though briefly trying to recall his name. "Ehr, companion." The man said at last, turning his attention back up to Alphaess. He removed the edge of his sword from Flick's shoulder and tapped it lazily upon his thigh.

I'm not a 'lost puppy'. Flick thought briefly to himself, rather indignant. Regardless, he did not speak up. Despite the fact that Quickbeam was a few inches under Flick's height he probably outweighed him by quite a bit in the manner of sheer muscle. There was really not a lot he could do in this situation except, perhaps, some sort of Will magic. But Flick could not exactly imagine what he could use in this situation. Fire? There were a lot of trees around...Lightning? Knowing Flick, he'd miss and zap someone he didn't want to or, knowing lightning's properties, everyone in the area. A battle charge would not work either due to the trees being so close together. There was a chance Flick might just knock himself out, and he wouldn't be of any aid there. But, there were always things Flick had not learned as of now like...force push. Could that be a help here? Flick managed to avert his gaze from Quickbeam and Blaire and instead look at Alphaess, making a brief 'pushing' motion towards Quickbeam and then giving a thumbs up, and then turning his thumb down as though asking 'yes?' or 'no?'

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Greatwood

Considering the situation, Alphaess was pretty sure that this was going to last a painful long time. Her swords were lowered down, bored of holding them like that. The swords were taken in her left hand and now facing the ground, but still not ready to enter their sheaths yet. Alphaess stayed silent and let the man speak, meanwhile, wiping away the blood with the back of her gauntlets. It has started to annoy her. At least it wasn't bleeding anymore. "Is that a classic bounty hunter behaviour to be that annoying, or is it just you?" The bandit woman, referred as 'Blaire' as the man said, had spoken with a joking voice, clearly not amused with having him around. She had crossed her arms and glaring at the man now. There does not seem to be any kind of protection or armour on the woman. Not many bandits actually cared about their health that much it seemed. There was a tattoo visible a little bellow the collarbone, something that looked like both a rose and a skull. "...And I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be interested in that business." That little chat had gone too long already, and Alphaess was sick of it. It was quite obvious now that these two didn't really looked each other. Well... It actually reminded of her and a fellow heroine and their rivalry back at their training. But, it seem to be more like a 'cat and mouse' thing. A bounty hunter and a bandit.

"I wouldn't exactly say that it's a friendship. More that we equally want to cut off each other's throats." Alphaess clearly stated that she wasn't friends, nothing close to that, with a bandit. Her eyes turned on Flick, giving a slight eye roll at him, shaking her head in disapproval. She was going to get him out of this, in one piece if possible. Even if he disobeyed a direct order, she still had promises him to keep him alive. Plus a dead apprentice wouldn't be that entertaining to punish for the disobedience. Alphaess held a shrugg back when the man mentioned Flick wandering around the woods. Oh, look at that, it seems this bounty hunter had also broken some rules about getting into her part of the woods. The bandit frowned by a little, though she didn't seem to be much interested to fight against Alphaess. Well, she was clever enough not to play with her after seen what happened to her comrades, now lying down on the ground coldly. She eyed the Heroine, waiting for her answer. Alphaess had a feeling that the bandit would prefer coming with Alphaess instead of this bounty hunter. After looking down at Flick briefly with little interest she returned her gaze on the bounty hunter once again. "Actually, you may keep him. He is just not worth all the trouble." She continued on with an uninterested voice once more, making a little gesture with her hand in the air. "After all, he is meant to be just an escort mission. No one would mind if one merchant goes missing in the middle of the woods." She hoped this little misleading trick would be enough to make him believe Flick wasn't worth a bandit. And make Flick realise she was just putting on a facade to save his back. Once again.

"One the other hand, a bandit could make you rich. I would totally turn myself in if that was even possible." Blaire seem to had understood where Alphess was going and finished her words even before her. It was a bit strange and really annoying, but, Alphaess just nodded in agreement. Then her eyes went back on Flick, seeing his actions, he was trying to tell something. He was trying to push him? Force push? Could he even do that? He had seen Alphaess use that spell a lot during combat, but she never actually taught him anything about it. He had showed good potential at such stuff but this might be a bit too much. But, still, it might be the only way to get both the bandit and Flick out of this.

"Why exactly want this specific bandit anyway? Not interested in knowing much detail in your relationship, but I don't see what makes her special." Alphaess continued with a question, while talking she silently patted her leg a few times, like a normal action. Than she made a slight 'cutting' move in the air, trying to tell Flick to wait. Than causally, Alphaess returned her swords back to the sheath, resting one hand above the hilts. She hoped this question would make the bounty hunter get a little distracted. Her other hand also rested on her belt. Than, keeping her gaze on the bounty hunter, she made a move that looked like a quick 'flick' to the hilt of her swords, not quite sure what else to do to for Flick to understand. His name was good enough. If he would understand and not fail this miserably. If her balverine was here, it would totally be easier to do all these commands. That beast knew every command in his memory and never disobeyed her. Well, not never, but at unimportant things only.

"Just to annoy you, sweetheart." Quickbeam said in a devilish voice, the man leaning forward slightly and yet not quite leaving Flick's side. Flick came to the knowledge that the bandit, unlike both Alphaess and Quickbeam, seemed not to be as adorned in armour as the other two. Flick had noted that in the time he'd briefly attempted to dress up as a bandit he had not had much armour aside from shoulderpads. That entire scenario had been a disaster as soon as Flick had stepped within the borders of the bandit camp. It was actually quite a shock to Flick that he'd made it as far as he had in his little 'disguise' at the time and, most of all, that he'd actually made it out in one piece with the rune. But now as it seemed, him zapping the bandit leader had not toppled the bandits altogether for there still seemed to be some--like this woman. She was, most certainly, a bandit. But to the words 'bounty hunter' Flick glanced up and over at Quickbeam inquiringly. Ah, so that's what he was. Assassin had been close enough, Flick supposed. But Flick got the feeling that when he'd referred to this man as 'assassin' he hadn't taken well to it.

Flick caught Alphaess's faint shake of her head, in obvious displeasure. He winced, but at least prayed that it wouldn't put a damper on the whole 'hey, you kind of need me alive to train me, right?' Yet, the next time that Alphaess looked down at Flick her expression was that of disdain and disinterest, as though she hardly recognized the conman. To her words, Flick's jaw dropped and he refrained from saying something indignantly. Escort mission? Merchant? Flick wasn't one hundred percent on this, but he was pretty sure that he wasn't considered a merchant anymore. Or even a conman, in all actuality. He was more of an...unlucky traveler, who just so happened to be paired with a wolfish Heroine who was training him in the act of the Will. That was not exactly an occupation, and yet Flick was satisfied with it. It was better than be considered a thief or a rat, as some people put it. Even the bandit leader, Sabre, had gone as far as to call Flick a thief just moments before his death when Flick knew Sabre was aware of the conman having stolen the rune. Flick really needed to think of more titles for himself...

"I would say that's none of your business," Quickbeam said in a rather bored voice, adjusting his grip slightly on the amber sword. "But of course, I'm not really a secretive guy. If you're so dying to know, she's the damn second." He jerked his chin towards Blaire as he spoke. Second? To this, Flick briefly assumed he meant 'second in command' which probably meant that she was second in command to...Sabre? Ooh. This might be awkward. Flick set his jaw uncomfortably as Quickbeam went on: "She's got a particular reward on her head that is quite a bit of value to me. In all honesty, I'm not exactly interested in having a pet merchant, either. So I'll make the deal a bit more...appealing to you." Quickbeam removed his sword from the ground and lazily ran it along the bark of the tree to his right, just in front of Flick's face. "Hand her over, and you both get to keep your heads. If you don't, well. I'm afraid a lost merchant and a Heroine don't have much value to me. Either way, I get my game. What say you?"

Flick glanced over at Alphaess to see her make a quick gesture towards him. He couldn't exactly tell what she was trying to say to him, but apparently it was on the...'thumbs down'. Then she made something of a flick to the hilt of her swords and caused Flick to frown. Was she telling him that she could handle this? Okay, sure...Flick had gotten dragged through the woods by a bounty hunter and had done various other stupid things but he hated just waiting here for Alphaess to make a move.

Force push. Flick had seen Alphaess use it before. It looked like an actual gesture of pushing and, with Flick's fast-Will-learning abilities, it should be a cinch. Seeing as Quickbeam's attentions were mainly focused on Alphaess, Flick quickly looked over the man. He was shorter than Flick but still probably considered a taller man, with quite a bit of muscle to him. Did it matter how strong Flick was for this sort of 'force push'? He wasn't too sure but, ah. They seemed to be in quite a bind considering a fight was probably unavoidable unless one of them did something. So, just as Quickbeam's attention was turning back to Flick to say something, Flick suddenly made a pushing gesture from his sitting position in the air towards the bounty hunter. While at first, Flick thought he'd completely screwed up, made a fool of himself, and nothing had happened. But then it felt as though his hands hit something and, quite abruptly, Quickbeam stumbled back as though something had struck him flat in the chest and he may have fallen over on his back had he not fallen back against a tree in time to brace himself. It took Flick those brief moments while Quickbeam was growling and picking himself back up for the conman to get to his feet and bolt over to where Alphaes was standing. Sure, it was a little cowardly, but Flick preferred to be standing on the opposite side of Alphaess than to be sitting next to Quickbeam with a sword pointed at his face. "Now maybe we can stop underestimating the conman?" Flick inquired under his breath where he stood just a little ways behind the Heroine.

They were facing out towards where Quickbeam had now recovered and was staring at the three of them. However, the bounty hunter never faltered in his 'cool' facade, which Flick found rather impressive considering that he'd kind of just smushed the guy against a tree. Quickbeam slowly lifted the tip of his amber sword so that it was facing out towards Alphaess but, for once, he actually seemed a bit at a loss for words. At last, Quickbeam dusted himself off with his spare hand and gave a 'not-very-happy' looking fake grin. "That wasn't very nice. Regardless, my preposition still stands. I have no interest in a merchant. Just the bandit. What'll it be?"

The bandit, Blaire had crossed her arms and waiting for the conversation to be over, clearly bored. Strangely, Alphaess could not see any interest in her to fight, probably since she was outnumbered. Or maybe she only knew how to fight among side a group of other bandits. She seem like someone that wouldn't like a scar on their pretty face. When the bounty hunter had mentioned her being second, she face brightened up with a smile. So, Alphaess haven't made a mistake in her guess. Actually, that was pretty obvious too. "I already noticed that. Nice to know Sabre still have some toys to share even now." Alphaess murmured, shooting a glance at the bandit, who didn't seem to be very happy about being called a toy, but haven't dropped her grin from the face.

Before Alphaess could say something in return, unexpected happened. Like usual type of unexpected with Flick around. The man was pushed backwards against the tree and Flick finally had been able to free himself. He ran up to her and stood a little ways. Alphaess was rather surprised, but actually found this, useful. Now she would have to worry less about him getting a blade in his face, while she tried to rescue him. Alphaess grinned slightly with confidence as the muscular bounty hunter was mocked by a man that was pretty much half size. He was just... Flick. Meanwhile, the bandit seem to escaped a short chuckle from her lips as her enemy growled. It was impressive, to be honest and Alphaess would appreciate this... If he haven't disobeyed her orders. He wasn't going to get away from that easily. As much as the heroine had been impressed, the bandit also seem to got her eyes on Flick. She offered a wide grin as with sudden interest, started to study him. At first, it was obvious that the bandit had no interest in Flick, completely ignoring the 'merchant' as Alphaess had introduced (Well, Alphaess didn't meant to say that Flick was useless and call him a merchant, she just wanted to say so that the bounty hunter wouldn't expect something... like that from him) but now, she was quite interested in him. "Ooh! So what' that wizard-y thing ya done?" Blaire questioned, keeping her large green eyes on Flick. Unlike most bandits, this lady was surprisingly more covered than most of them.

Blaire let out another laugh, not quite moving from her spot at the opposite side of the heroine. "You couldn't do better." She laughed with a low tune, aiming to tease the bounty hunter directly. Alphaess meanwhile stood her ground with her grin on face. She briefly glanced back to the two, than returned her eyes back on the man. "I believe you don't have many cards left in hand." The heroine replied with a calm manner, gesturing back at the other two. "I would take my chances and denay your kind offer and take the bandit myself." Than her hand casually rested on the hilt of the swords. If he carved a fight for that woman, fine, she would give him one. "I'll suggest you better look for another catch yourself." Get lost. Her free hand made a quick 'shoo' gesture in the air, willing to push the limits of this man. He had captured her apprentice, right? So that might have a punishment. Flick was quite like one of her belongings, one that fallowed him around on his own feet.

"Ah, c'mon, Mordecai, you're too late this time" Blaire teased, stressing late, and laughing slightly afterwards. " Be a man and accept failure!" She demanded, again teasingly. Alphaess had no idea what the bandit was trying to do. Tease the crap out of the man? Probably. Than what? Maybe she though she could get away during a commotion. She still had her weapons on. From what Alphaess could see, there were a few throwing blades tied here and there. Than, on her back, there seem to be two weapons hung. A short sword and a crossbow, along with a short quiver. She was armed with some bombs, hanging from the side of her belt. Strange that someone would attach those to a belt. But of course, Alphaess was the one that had one hundred pouches, daggers and other things attached to her belt. Always. Alphaess had turned to soot a glare to Flick, reminding him that she wasn't quite finished with him yet. For a second, Alphaess wondered if this man knew she was the one that killed Sabre (Not quite true, but Alphaess didn't Ming to claim the victory. After all, even if it was her apprentice that killed him, Flick was her apprentice). No doubt the bandit knew the truth, well, at least half of the truth. Another question popped in her head now; if this bandit was the second in command, why she had never seen her during their brief visit to the bandit camp?

Flick felt a brief start of pride within his chest at Blaire's comment about 'wizardry' and he straightened up slightly despite the fact that he was partially cowering behind Alphaess. Flick noted briefly that the bounty hunter seemed to have removed his free hand (right hand) from his sword and reached out to touch the left-side of his chest as though momentarily stunned that such a man as Flick could have pushed him. Quickbeam could easily have squashed Flick had it come to hand to hand combat and yet, luckily, Flick was a bit of a cheater. In all honesty, when had Flick ever played fair? It wasn't fun to abide by the rules and so, Flick cheated. It was only a natural thing after all. Flick stepped out to the side of Alphaess so it seemed as though he was standing at her opposite side instead of cowering behind her which probably made him seem at least a little more intimidating. However, by the unfazed expression on Quickbeam's face, Flick could assume that the man was no where near intimidated.

"A warrior wins by skill," Quickbeam said in a firm, unimpressed voice. "Not by cheap tricks. Your magic won't frighten me. I've seen worse." And the bounty hunter lowered his amber sword from where it had been pointing to the tree and instead planted it firmly at his feed into the soil, crossing his arms and leaning atop it. He quirked his lip up in a slight smile at Alphaess's words and stayed silent until she'd finished, hardly reacting to her 'shoo' gesture. He turned his face to Blaire as she teased him, hardly reacting to the name 'Mordecai'. Ah, so this must be the man's full name. Flick knew that 'Quickbeam' was obvious a title for it sounded far too strange to be a name. In a way, Mordecai made this man seem far less intimidating and rather more placid. Less...warrior-like.

"Ah, but that would be too easy, would it not? Instead of leaving, I'll instead give you a preposition. Maybe this one will intrigue you better." 'Mordecai' leaned back and removed his right gauntlet lazily, examining the palm of it. "You see, a normal establishment in Albion would offer a substantial award for the second. Sure, perhaps for a Heroine such as yourself it might do you good for a rusty knife or two. However," And Mordecai drew back lazily and put on his leather gauntlet once again, wiggling his fingers about to test the leather. "A reward from say, my employer would be tenfold of something that you might receive from a settlement like Bowerstone. I'm not sure what kind of luxury you...pair have out here, but it surely could be lavished with some gold. Plenty of gold, really. But of course, you can't find a bounty hunter's employee unless you were a bounty hunter. And by the look of you, I'd say you're merely a stray Heroine from the Guild. And your..." Mordecai seemed to pause, trying to find the right word for Flick: "Ah, 'puppy' is obviously no bounty hunter. Really, to find them, you'd need...well, me. How many bounty hunters do you know?"

Flick was not generally a person to be insulted, and yet 'puppy' seemed to be stretching it a little. He opened his mouth to say something, then stalled and closed his mouth again. It was probably not the time for him to be chipping in with his own opinion so, instead, Flick just shut up. He was generally good with words and yet this Mordecai seemed to be rather intimidating. A little...persuasive? Flick wasn't exactly fooled by his smooth exterior considering that Flick frequently used the same appeal to make his own cons seem a lot more appealing but what Mordecai said actually made a bit of sense, even if it wasn't Flick's business. Turning in a bandit could present a pretty penny, but if Mordecai spoke true and another reward was far greater, then was it not worth the risk?

"To my knowledge, there isn't one for miles." Mordecai continued with ease, at last leaning back and removing his sword from the ground, sliding it back into its sheathe. Across the front of the sheathe there seemed to be something written...ah, Flick could scarcely make it out. Then again, Flick was oddly enough quite a good reader and writer in comparison to a lot of people in Albion due to his brief time as a failed writer. He could make out: 'Sanglamore'. Sanglamore was the name for a blade that was usually dubbed as the sword of a 'dishonest knight'. Ah, well one part of that was true. Being a bounty hunter was not exactly the most honest of occupations for it often required breaking laws and, of course, killing or at least capturing in some unsavory ways. But Mordecai was no knight, to Flick's knowledge. Despite this, Flick kept quiet as Mordecai finished up: "A ragtag group of a runaway Heroine, a merchant and a captive bandit won't make it two leagues past Gibbet Woods without my help. You'd also have to escape the Guards if you planned on turning in Blaire to my employer, and you'd need a man who knew how to 'get by'. So here's my offer: I'll take you to my employer and give you part of the share upon our arrival. There, we split ways." A confident smile crept across the bounty hunter's face and, with his weapon sheathed, he made a bold attempt to step forward and extend his right gloved hand towards Alphaess. "Is that a deal? Or do I need to make my offer a little more appealing?"

What was wrong with prepositions and this guy? Ugh... Maybe... This time, the man, Mordecai as the bandit had just called him, seem to make sense this time. A good amount of cash would be... good. Really. After all the bandits she had slayed to get her, Alphaess probably did deserved a little reward. If she were to get her to the Bowerstone guards, this reward would be little. She didn't knew how much a bounty hunter might get, but it probably would be a nice amount. Okay, she was no bounty hunter. Barely counted as a hero. Needing this man... She didn't even liked the idea. A ragtag group of a bandit, merchant and a Heroine. Sounds interesting. Gibbet Woods, eh? Ah, good, eerie woods. Wasn't that the place the undead liked to roam? Even more Interesting. With the bounty hunter finally sheathing his sword and stepping forwards, Alphaess finally let go of the hilt of her swords. She felt more relaxed now.

"You do got my interest." Alphaess said, also taking a step forwards the man, now standing in front of him. She looked down at his hand for a second, than back up at his face. This close, Alphaess was really an inch taller than the man, giving her an extra confidence. Deciding not to leave the man's hand hanging, Alphaess reached out to shake his hand. "How much exactly this part be? It better be worth my time. You know, there are many profitable things a Hero could do in their free time." Alphaess questioned, more than just in curiosity, while marking the offer was accepted with the short shake. Shortly after, she pulled her hand back and slightly pulled her gauntlet down, in an attempt to neaten it. "You better try not to break the deal, I can guarantee what I'll do won't be as soft and nice as average heroes." Alphaess warned, crossing her arms. A deal with a bounty hunter. These types were never known by their loyalties.

"So it makes a ragtag group of a runaway Heroine, a wizard-y merchant, a quite charming , captive bandit and a loyal bounty hunter?" Blaire murmured, loud enough for everyone to hear. "How interesting..." She spoke with a clearly sarcastic voice, shaking her head slightly, than giving off a slight chuckle. Being called a runaway Heroine wasn't something new. She had always been called names alike. Rouge. It was what she was, and she was far from being ashamed by this.

Alphaess than turned around, shooting a glare at Flick, she moved towards the bandit. Blaire first took a step back, loosing her grin on face when the Heroine approached. Taking a short rope hung on her belt, Alphaess tightly snatched the bandit's hands. "Ow, hey! That hurts! What happened to mercy to the prisoner!" The bandit whined loudly as her hands were tied together very tightly by Alphaess, with her usual, far-from-gentle attitude. "Oh, and you expect a bandit to be thougher." Alphaess rolled her eyes slightly, tying up the rope tightly, a few times. The bandit growled a little, growing annoyed of Alphaess's manners. "And you expect a Heroine to be gentle!" Blaire protested in return, trying to pull her hands from Alphaess's tight grip, but no avail. The Heroine was quite taller and stronger than the petite bandit woman.

Alphaess let go of the bandit's now tied hands when she was sure they were tied together well enough. She took a step back and stood next to Flick, planning to delay his punishment for a while, but really, there wasn't a chance she would forget it. "Go on, lead the way so we could get this over with soon as possible." Alphaess slightly made a gesture with her head towards the bounty hunter. If he was going to get part of the reward, he better earn that. Though Alphaess wasn't quite sure if she should... really share the rewards. She could always make a trick to pocket all of the reward for herself. But for now, she just wanted to get rid of the bandit.
