All Flick had responded with was a soft: "Hmmph." He stirred a little bit, but it was clear he was already far beyond being able to respond properly. He had shifted into a slightly more comfortable position, which was still rather uncomfortable looking. His legs were drawn up to his chest and his arms were hugging them tight. To anyone else, it would be obvious that Flick might awake with a few pains in his neck or lower back but Flick was used to this by now. Weird...sleeping positions. Well, it was a gift. He'd slept in plenty of trees before, and that had often led to a lot of falling from those particular trees early in the morning and coming to an unpleasant awakening. Trial and error, of course. Flick was now more or less an expert of sleep. Anytime, anywhere. All he really needed to do was close his eyes and drift off...But, for some odd reason, that wasn't happening now. It seemed as though Flick's thoughts had been dragged elsewhere. He never told many people about his relationship with his father, mostly considering he'd never had many friends or people he'd taken enough time to get to know them.
But Flick did not fall asleep. Not yet, anyway. His hand involuntarily released its hold on his knees for a moment to briefly touch the spot on his collarbone where Quiver had cut him the day or two before. God, he'd nearly lost track of time being here. The cut had pretty much healed. It had never been too deep--just a minor scratch above the part of the bone that jutted out slightly. He could feel the slight difference when his fingers brushed over the top of the cut. There was no pain when Flick touched it, aside from the slightest discomfort. It would pass, however. Flick had received worse. Well, of course, he'd never been cut with a sword before but he'd had several injuries in the past few years consisting of broken bones (falling from trees) and maybe bruises and scrapes. Nothing too serious, of course. Being a merchant wasn't always risky business when Flick had relatively stayed around the Bowerstone area...until now.
Eventually, Flick's mind had completely severed itself from the idea of his earlier 'chat' about his Hero blood, and he'd started to drift off. Slowly, at first. Flick barely recalled Alphaess's presence being quite close to himself. Any other time, he'd probably make a ridiculous or flirtatious quip about that but he was far too tired at the moment. He was also blatantly aware (and a little self-concious) of the fact that he tended to talk a lot in his sleep. And...make weird noises. It would be incredibly embarrassing if Flick were to blurt out something incredibly unrelated during his slumber. He tended to have the habit of that especially when he was either really exhausted, really stressed, or had experienced something fairly traumatic. Did discovering you were a human torch count as a traumatic experience? Flick had no idea. Whether it was or wasn't, Flick had soon slipped into a state of unconsciousness...
By the time morning came (whether it was late or early, Flick couldn't tell) Flick had awoken with an odd sense of pressure on his left arm. Weird...he also had quite the pain in his neck, most likely from sleeping in such a strange position. Flick grimaced as a particularly annoying ray of light shone in through the far window. He tried to close his eyes again for perhaps a few more minutes of sleep, but he didn't manage to get that. The light was just...far too bright. Flick gave an incoherent groan and made a move to sit up when he realized...that pressure on his left shoulder was still there. Flick shifted slightly, then glanced over and realized...it was Alphaess. No way. He was as stunned as he was uncomfortable, slowly coming to the realization that she must've fallen asleep shortly after he and managed to lean over (most likely without a thought. There was no way she'd lean on him purposely) during the night and...well.
And yet, there was no way Flick wasn't going to take advantage of this. Casually, he lifted his arm from behind Alphaess where it had been pinned at his side and nonchalantly reached across her shoulders. Okay--this was probably a step too far, but Flick couldn't really help himself. He was sort of a cheeky ass, after all. Unfortunately, he'd kinda forgotten about the whole 'Also, if you dare to take advantage of this and try something stupid, I'll break your fingers; one by one.' kinda thing. Ah, well. She wouldn't really do it, would she? He rolled his eyes and gave a: "Ah, 'ello there. Sleep well...?"

The Alphaess
❦ Hєяσιηє σƒ Kησтнσℓє Gℓα∂є ❦
➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳
Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Greatwood
❧ The tired heroine had her head fall to the side, her body also leaning to the side, where she assumed was a wall. Her red hair was falling over the face, completely covering the upper part of her face, along with the eyes that were now closed. She had actually found herself a pretty comfortable place to fall asleep, at least that was what she though before she realized she was leaning to something that was breathing. But, until she would wake up, she was staying still, with head resting on Flick's shoulder, hands resting on her own lap and legs pulled close to her body. Unlike her usual, snappy state, while asleep, she was all relaxed and peaceful. Innocent maybe. As innocent as a wolf in sheep's clothing could be.
❧ Somehow, Alphaess felt something on her shoulders. Something... uncomfortable. Was something touching her here? Her eyes were closed shut and she was sleeping pretty deeply, but still, she was still alerted. No matter how deep she slept, like a wolf, she never left her guard down and it was pretty easy to wake her up with the slightest of touch or sound. And now, she was sure something was alerting her, bugging her and making her instinct go crazy. Both eyes fluttered open, her pure brown gaze was facing the ground from the position she was in. She blinked her eyes a few times, confused. This... wasn't her room. And... what the... A light uncomfortable groan had escaped her lips as soon as she started to wake up. Though her mind wasn't working correctly at the moment. She tried to search her memories for a second, what have happened last night? She was sitting in Flick's bed, stories and stuff than... she couldn't recall the memory she went back to her room. So... she had fallen asleep here?
❧ The real shock was yet to come. 'Ah, 'ello there. Sleep well?' The voice had come from an unknown direction, but from a disturbingly close distance. Than, she raised her head for the first time, looking behind the red hair fallen over her eyes. She attempted to raise her hand to push them away but, suddenly, she felt something was over her shoulders. After another pause, she finally got her hand up and pushed back her hair in a hurry, just to come eye-to-eye with Flick. Too close. It still haven't hit her yet, but it didn't took much to notice his arm, comfortably resting over her back and shoulders. He haven't just done that.
❧ After realizing what was really happening, a sharp hiss- like growling voice came from her throat, same time, her white teeth have been revealed. Her brown eyes now had golden tints flickering in an aggressive way, as they were trying to take over. With a quick move of her hand, she had grabbed his own and twisted it, hoping it to be painful, and shoved it off her shoulder. With the free hand, she had grabbed the neck of his clothing and pulled it closer and higher, forcing him to get on his feet. It was easy for her to get back up, standing tall while facing poor Flick that was yet to suffer a worse fate than being pulled on his feet from the collar while his arm was held in Alphaess's tight grip and twisted to increase the pain. She was planning to make him regret doing anything, maybe even being born.
❧ With her gaze locked on his face, that had changed color to a full golden and obviously filled with extreme anger, she was keeping him right in front of him, his eyes in her eyeline. He fingers were literally digging into his flesh on his arm, while the one kept his collar was even tighter. Having a hard time controlling herself not to simply breaking his neck, or doing something much worse, she snarled in a clear, demanding way. "You've got three seconds to explain." Her white teeth was now fully visible, every single white, fang-like teeth. Her eyes seem to look strange. Even stranger than normal two toned color. More like a wolf's eyes with anger burning in them. From her actions, Flick could tell that she did not liked being touched. Especially when she was sleeping.

It only took Flick a few seconds as Alphaess started to stir before he realized how majorly he'd screwed up. She made a noise that seemed like a mixture between that of a hiss and a growl and snatched his hand, twisting it in an uncomfortable position and shoving it abruptly off his shoulder and causing him to recoil slightly. "Ow! Hey, I was just--" He started to say, before she seized the neck of his clothing and forced him practically up to his feet while she stood tall and glared down at him. When her fingers tightened, Flick cringed slightly and made a face: "Again, ow." Damn, she was strong. This was probably a pretty embarrassing situation considering Flick had an inch or two on Alphaess and yet she was looking down at him as though he was some kid who'd gotten busted with trying to sneak an extra...treat after dinner or something. Flick had no idea. It kinda hurt too much for his mind to think of a clever simile. He made an uncomfortable noise at the feeling of her fingers gouging into his arm, speaking to him in a demanding way.
"Okay, okay--engh--seriously, is this necessary?" Flick had really never seen Alphaess as angry as she seemed to be at the moment, probably considering the fact that he hadn't known her for more than a month. Flick had an OK pain tolerance but when it came to someone literally gouging into the flesh on his arm and gripping him rather tightly by the collar, it was uncomfortable. "You were the one who leaned on me!" He retorted in a slightly higher-pitched voice, considering the position he was in. "What did you expect me to do?" He flinched once again, attempting in vain to pull his arm away from Alphaess's fierce grip.
Then again, Flick had been in situations like this before. Women...ah, well. Flick had more or less gotten used to the sudden change of their moods over his years encountering them. The night before, Alphaess had seemed more calm and sedated, actually listening to his ramblings about his father and Hero blood. Now? Now she looked like she wanted to bite his damn head off. He had actually had a situation like this before, funny enough. Ah...what had her name been? Marceline, maybe. She'd been a tavern woman he'd managed to actually have a brief 'relationship' with before...maybe a few months ago. She'd actually been quite attractive with a slight figure, curly, long dark brown hair and soft hazel eyes. That was great but the actual plus was the fact that her father had pretty close relations to the mayor of Bowerstone and, because of such, he was pretty successful in his line of inns. So, she was pretty well off in wealth. Getting close to her was pretty easy, too, due to her having just been dumped and, well, any chick on the rebound was easy enough game for Flick.
Of course, the whole 'relationship' had ended with a crash and burn later on when Flick had started to realize that despite Marceline's good looks and wealth she had a pretty damn ugly personality. Naggy...criticizing Flick for every damn thing he did wrong. Okay, so what if Flick had 'winked' at that girl in the inn? It had been harmless flirting. Marceline, however, had not taken it so lightly. By the time they'd both been on their wit's end, Marceline had literally, quite literally chased Flick out of her father's inn with a walking stick, yelling bloody murder at him. That had been the end of that, but Flick hadn't cared. The money wasn't worth it at any rate and her looks were mediocre at best. If he'd literally planned on marrying her for her money, he might've just been driven over the edge by her constant nagging. Eugh...but this situation was different. Even though Alphaess was armed with a walking stick and beating him with it, she was still pretty damn scary.
"Won't do it again. Promise." Flick responded agitatedly, lifting his freearm and making a childish gesture of an 'X' across his heart. It was the old 'cross your heart and hope to die' type of thing that kids in Oakvale used to do when they were younger for a binding promise. Flick had no idea why he did it now, but it seemed like the right thing to do. He was pretty sure if Alphaess didn't let go soon his arm might fall off..."Can we just...pretend this never happened?"

❧ With the first responses she have gotten with his whining, Alphaess didn't even changed the tightness of her grip. Still keeping her hand on his collar and arm, bending it a little more as a reply to his whining. Being a muscular woman did come in handy at times; especially if she felt like breaking the arm of the guy that offered a 'stay' in his room during her last visit to Bowerstone. That guy was lucky the guards have dropped in quickly, otherwise, the arm would just be a beginning. There were a few things she hated more than these cheep Casanovas. Oh, no, most of them haven't met women of her kind or simply have drunken a little bit too much to dare to come closer than a few feet to her. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she glared down to him with her burning golden eyes and spoke in a hissing-like way; "If you don't want your neck to be turned all the way around, it really is."
❧ Another fierce growl came from her throat when countered in a defensive way with a rather annoying high-pitched voice. Obviously, that wasn't the right answer she wanted to hear. She was too tempted to bend his arm more to the back until she were able to hear the cracking of bones, do the same to the other arm and throw him off the tree house. "You thought I was joking about breaking your fingers, didn't you?" She snapped with a loud and strong voice, giving him a slight pull on the clothing she held in one hand. He wasn't going anywhere soon, not 'till she wanted him to go, once she thought he had enough. Him trying to get free from her grip wasn't effective either, and caused her to only tighten her grip even more. Breaking the fingers sounded like a good idea right now; he wouldn't need fingers trying to use Will, right? Just arms were enough. Just if she didn't need him to stay alive.
❧ Men. You give them the smallest bit of trust and find them using it to the smallest bit instantly after. She had learnt that long ago. Even back at Knothole Glade or at the Guild training, she never trusted them. Actually, she never trusted anyone, regardless of gender. Though there had been... some less violent encounters with the opposite gender; where she didn't end up breaking arms or knocking heads off. But, none of them ended up well at all. Either scared of Alphaess's unique personality or eventually ended up stepping in Alphaess's way, they never lasted long either.
❧ Alphaess slightly raised a burrow as he spoke once again and made some sort of strange action and gestured an 'X' over his chest. Did that meant something? With her attention quickly lost, Alphaess had gotten bored of the fact she had been holding him for a pretty long time, she decided to let go, but not without a last, harsh move of her hand to twist his arm more, still not enough to break. She dropped the cloth she was holding on without a warning, her eyes still locked on Flick. "Right... But if you ever try again, I swear, I won't go that soft on you." She growled in a threatening way, now, that her hands were free, she slightly dusted herself off and neatened her clothing.
❧ Quickly after she moved away from him and turned around to get her shawl, running a hand across her hair to brush off any lost strands of hair away. With all the excitement and commotion, she haven't even thought much about the somewhat aching back. It wasn't that bad, maybe because she was leaning to something softer than a wall. Damn it. She couldn't even tell how much she hated Flick right now. Even thinking about it had made her to tighten her fists. It was rather... embarrassing. No, more than just 'rather'. She just wanted to slap herself for letting such happen. She grabbed the black piece of clothing and quickly tossed it over her shoulders, scolding herself mentally. Than, she turned to look over to him briefly. "Training. Now." And she plainly made her exit from the door, leaving him alone inside.

Flick quirked his lip up in the slightest start of a sheepish smile, the best he could try for in the moment. Every tug she gave and every time she tightened her grip he could not help but let out a tiny squeak or grunt of discomfort, but he resisted the urge to rip free now. He figured that if he did so, Alphaess might just make good on her promise about breaking his fingers. Flick liked his fingers...they helped feel things and pick things up. But at last, after his gesture, she released Flick and let him drop back down but not after giving him a last twist. This time, it really hurt, and Flick made a noise partway through a grunt of discomfort and a frustrated curse. Okay--fine. He'd learned his lesson. No...touchy crap. Hey, but she'd leaned on him! That had to count for something, right? Flick honestly had no idea if she'd done it the entire night or not...he probably wouldn't have moved her if he'd realized she had leaned over anyway. First, he wouldn't want to wake her up. Second...well, who wouldn't really like it sort of...? Plus, it was great that Flick now had something to hold over her head. But maybe he wouldn't bring it up. Flick had a feeling she'd been going soft just then...
At her blunt command, Flick lowered his head slightly and made a gesture between that of a salute and rotating his hand simultaneously in a cocky manner. "Whatever you say." Funny enough, even that simple gesture rather hurt his wrist. Flick glanced back down at his makeshift bed, but didn't bother doing anything. He'd fallen asleep with his shirt and pants on, anyway. No need to change. He was sort of hungry, but Flick dare not ask Alphaess for any sort of food. Not yet. If he did, he had a feeling she might just ignore him or chuck something at him. So he didn't say anything aside from: "You're the one who did the cuddly bear thing..." (but under his breath so Alphaess wouldn't hear. He would dare not say that aloud) and, promptly, Flick turned and followed after Alphaess out the door.
Things went by like this for two to three more days (Flick nearly lost count) with the constant training and mind-numbing Will exercises. Flick more or less showed quite interesting progress. In fact, he'd actually shown the hints of learning another spell along with the fire and lightning, which had happened when he'd tried to turn around quickly and ended up running into a tree that was a few metres away. As it turned out later, that had been dubbed as some sort of 'battle charge'. Flick wasn't planning on using it again, though. That tree had...really hurt his face.
But, aside from the tree-smashing incident, Flick had more or less improved. His aim, his power, and even how long it took him to focus on the abilities had made considerable progress within the short time of training. Because of such, they'd actually ventured out from the normal area starting near midday on the fourth or fifth day of his training. Just as Flick was starting to gain the confidence that he might be able to do the thingy-charge, he picked up on something in the distance. A...scream? It was high-pitched and fearful, but it could've been an animal. Flick was just about to turn away from it when he heard a distinct: "Please! Someone, help me!" Flick stiffened abruptly and looked over in Alphaess's direction. "Uh, we're supposed to do something about that...right? I mean, I'll ignore it if you do, but..." The conman turned his face back to the scream. He was normally a selfish man, but the scream was undeniable.
Then: "Get away! You can't have it! Help!" That voice definitely sounded feminine and, call Flick oldschool, but he was a stickler for the damsel in distress stereotypes. Besides, didn't women usually fall almost instantaneously for a guy who saved their life? Obviously Flick had no idea what this woman looked like but by the sound of her voice, she had to be at least a six on the attractiveness scale. So, he was intrigued. At yet another scream, Flick made up his mind. Whatever this woman was up against couldn't be much worse than what they'd faced in Darkwood, right? And he'd survived those...plus, now he had magic hand stuff. Maybe he needed to try out his skills on real things.

The Alphaess
❦ Hєяσιηє σƒ Kησтнσℓє Gℓα∂є ❦

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Greatwood
❧ As days passed by, Alphaess had been able to witness Flick's new powers. He was continuing to gain new ones, which was actually surprising for her. When she first met him back at Darkwood, being stuck in thick mud, nothing could make her believe the guy had such talents. She would just laugh at you at that point and probably tell you had lost your mind, or something similar. But now, with each step he took, Alphaess couldn't help but get impressed with it. Slightly. Lightning, fire, and now battle charge. Just in a matter of weeks. Seems impossible, but, true. Flick had talent and that meant Alphaess was right all the time. And Guildmaster wasn't. Another point for the rouge heroine, zero for the Guild.
❧ Right now, Alphaess and Flick were on the daily training session, practicing on the usual things, and Alphaess trying to show Flick how to do the charge properly. Not that it was something she used often. No, slamming into someone at high speed was definitely not for Alphaess. She was strong, yes, but not that much. She was still a skill based heroine. She had more 'swift' techniques. She would prefer 'assassin rush' over 'battle charge' anytime. But again, who would like to spend their limited amount of power on such Will ability, when you had the reflexes of a wolf. Ah, yes, being a half beast was a good thing. Especially in combat.
❧ But, during the ordinary training, something out of ordinary happened; a scream. Clearly a human. A female perhaps. Or a guy... similar to Flick in some aspects. The heroine was quickly alerted, listening carefully. The second scream fallowed after shortly. Instantly after, Alphaess shot a glance towards Flick. Upon his comment, she only rolled her eyes and with a low, disturbed and annoyed groan fallowed as she moved her hand down on her belt, stopping above the hilt of her swords, gripping both tightly. "Come." She said, along with a short gesture with her head for him to fallow. Even though the screaming came out quite desperate, clearly, Alphaess wasn't in a rush. Casually, but also pretty quickly, she moved towards the direction the screaming and fuss was coming from.
❧ "Hobbes." Alphaess stated as soon as she reached the commotion; a small group of Hobbes, attacking that woman, trying to rob something off? Alphaess didn't payed much attention on the woman or what the small creeps were trying to do, instead, she was too busy drawing her bow from her back. Calmly, she pulled back the arrow and aimed, but before she shot the arrow flying she briefly glanced over to Flick over her shoulder, with her usual slyness; "Hope you're ready to put these powers to good use now." She said, and quickly after, sent the arrow flying towards the dirty grey flesh of the little beast. One Hobbe fell with a loud yelp, causing a slight shock among the others. There was no time to pause now. Another arrow fallowed after, Alphaess had started shooting arrows rapidly, each one hitting one Hobbe at a time before the small creatures could even notice what had happened.

Flick frowned over at Alphaess, but made no attempt to argue and immediately went after her. He darted after Alphaess as she made for the noise of the screaming and, as soon as they'd revealed the cause of the screams, Alphaess had stated 'Hobbes' almost simply. He knelt down next to her, cautiously glancing out to what seemed to be the issue. There was a small group of gray-skinned creatures, attacking what seemed to be a young woman and supposedly trying to...what, mug her? Whatever it was, the girl definitely seemed in need of aid. The creatures could only have come up to Flick's waist, and yet he noticed not all of them were gray-skinned. Some had red skin... One or two were weaponless while most of them held what happened to look like wooden axes and hammers. Flick watched quickly as Alphaess calmly drew her bow and let loose an arrow into the fray. A Hobbe had fallen with a cry, which led to a ripple affect amongst the others. They'd noticed their presence now. And yet, it was easy enough to see that Flick was a little nervous. The last time they'd encountered Hobbes, they'd literally tried to drag Flick off for simply having a shiny belt buckle. Now? Now he had something to fight them with, and yet he was still a little edgy. How exactly was he supposed to do this, at any rate? Flick usually got a little tired after a few spells, so his endurance was something he definitely needed to work on.
The Hobbes had definitely taken notice of them now. They'd seemed to have abandoned the lady and taken to turning about and charging the pair. Flick straightened instantaneously and, just as a trio of gray-skinned Hobbes were coming straight for him, Flick turned and bolted to the right. Except...it wasn't exactly a bolt. It was more like the 'battle charge' thing he'd tried to do previously and ended up ramming into a tree. Luckily, this time, there was no tree close enough for Flick to run into and so he actually managed to get a few leagues away from the Hobbes, oddly enough ramming into the furthest one to the right simultaneously. The bolt was enough to knock the Hobbe right over, and yet Flick did not have the chance to get his balance. He let out a yelp and, promptly, fell over in the mud. He'd accidentally sent up a splash of mud doing so and, with a disoriented groan, Flick picked himself up and turned over to see the Hobbe he'd knocked clean over. Just as he was starting to get to his feet, Flick came to the realization: I have no idea what I'm doing.
Oh well. Flick had a habit for being an improviser. As the remaining two Hobbes came towards him, he opened his palm and instantaneously a flame started up upon the exposed flesh. This time, Flick actually refrained from flinching. Had Flick been a Hobbe, he probably would've been pretty afraid of fire. These Hobbes, however, must've caught onto the fact that Flick was a complete screw-up because they hardly seemed deterred and rather more angry at the fact that he'd knocked down one of their companions. They waddled right up to him on their stubby legs but, before they could reach Flick, both of them got a nice toasty fireball right in the face. Flick reeled back, a little startled that he'd...actually managed to do something. The Hobbes were lying face-up in the mud with their armor smoldering in the slightest.
"Holy crap." Flick muttered, glancing at his hands. His...fingers were sort of smoking, but ah. He could get around that. Was it wrong to say that this might be kind of...fun? Alright, that sounded totally unlike Flick and a little...crazy. He wasn't a killer in any way, but Flick kind of liked the fact that he seemed nearly untouchable with the whole hand magic. Flick closed his hands again and dusted the bits of mud and dirt off of him. He definitely needed to get a hand on the whole 'battle charge' thing. He noticed that the woman who'd been screaming before had simply backed off far off away from the fray, cowering slightly behind a far off tree. Flick stole a brief glance at her, but that was all he managed to get. There was still Hobbes to deal with, after all. But, Flick still had to do one more thing. He straightened himself and looked over at Alphaess: "You might wanna take notes, Red!"
Of course, his pride was short-lived for suddenly he felt a brush of air behind him and something literally pelted up behind him. Flick didn't even have the chance to turn around, it was that quick. There was the sound of something whistling through the air and something sharp and heavy struck Flick just at the back of his left knee, causing him to crumple down with a winded wheeze, clutching at his leg. Instantaneously Flick realized what had happened: a Hobbe had hit him from behind with their axe. Flick resisted the urge to have groaned out in pain and instead managed to lift his head and turn to see the Hobbe that had hit him. The Hobbe still held its axe (now with a blood-stained tip) and was making an attempt to aim a little higher, for Flick's neck...he didn't get the chance. Flick detached his right hand from his leg and promptly zapped the Hobbe directly between the eyes. The creature's form shuddered for a brief moment as electricity danced up and down its form and then, with the strong scent of burning flesh, the gray-skinned creature buckled over backwards into the mud, leaving Flick to do nothing but kneel in the mud and mutter incoherent curses. Surprisingly enough, Flick was quite creative with his cursing. It was...well, a 'gift'.

The Alphaess

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Greatwood
❧ As the Hobbes drew closer, Alphaess was still in her calm state, having a sly grin kept on her face. She enjoyed this to the smallest bit; taking the lives of these little rats was nothing more than a daily act. It was all normal. And entertaining, even though the possessed so little challenge. The little creatures now had their eyes and full attention on them, running up to them with the stubby legs, meanwhile, Alphaess continued raining arrows on them. Drawing a new arrow from the quiver every two or three seconds, one arrow was sent flying towards the grey skinned creatures. A big majority had been shot with the arrows, but the remaining ones had approached Alphaess. A big mistake. Her grin getting even wider, the heroine didn't even took a step back. Just slightly pushing one foot back to get into a more comfortable defense position. Still have't placed the bow on her back, Alphaess continued fighting with arrows from close range.
❧ The Hobbes were now surrounding Alphaess, she had almost forgotten about Flick. One of the Hobbes decided to went in for a blow, raising the axe high and aiming for wherever it could hit at that height. But, this was only got a smirk and the side of her bow hitting into its face. Alphaess felt more violent today, maybe because of the fact that these stupid creatures had made her got into a funny and weak situation back at Darkwood and right in front of Flick. With the quick reflexes, Alphaess moved the bow to her back with one hand, while the other pulled the hilt of her swords, getting it out of the sheath with ease. Quickly, she separated the swords and held one in each hand. "Playtime." She purred silently with joy, pushing her head back slightly.
❧ First blow came from Alphaess, slashing to the right, right at the grey flesh. Yelps and screams of agony fallowed. Than, while one sword was busy slaying the Hobbes, the other one was raised at the exact opposite direction to block a blow. The small axe was stopped and all the Hobbe got was a strong kick in the stomach. That probably hurt quite much; these boots have crushed many bones before. A few times even some human bones too. Especially some types of men suffered that a few times. Another axe came in for a blow, but this time, Alphaess simply dodged with a roll, also breaking out of the circle of Hobbes. Ah, well, she wasn't the one to fight these with brutal force, so staying inside the circle wasn't her thing. She would hunt them, one at a time. It took less than seconds for her to get back on her feet.
❧ While holding her swords in front of her in a defensive position, Alphaess had turned her head to the direction Flick was after hearing his voice. She gave a silent chuckle and shook her head, finding it rather amusing to see that he still could be like that right now. But, shortly after, she had to return to her own job, the Hobbes were still trying to push her back as their little weapons were pushing against her's, in a some sort of sword-lock. Alphaess instead of doing something with the swords, decided to go with the Will. With a breath escaping her lips, a powerful force-wave knocked the Hobbes that surrounded Alphaess on their backs, giving enough time for Alphaess to simply finish some of them off while they were down, quickly running the tip of her blade over their throats.
❧ After that part, it was rather easy for Alphaess finish the last large one, letting her sword go through the flesh of the pink-ish skinned beast. When the body fell limp, Alphaess turned around with a grin on face towards Flick. She opened her mouth, but didn't said anything as she heard something. Slightly turning her head, she spotted on little grey Hobbe trying to run away with fear. Alphaess held the swords together in one hand and raised the empty one in the direction of the fleeing Hobbe. "Missed one." She said slyly before a beam of golden-white lightning was shot towards the critter along with a thunder-like noise. The lightning struck the grey-fleshed creature, making it shake as the electricity zapped it, and afterwards, fall dead with a faint 'thud'.
❧ When it was done, Alphaess quickly moved towards Flick, her smile still staying on her face, but being less visible. But, she just stood still for a second in front of him, listening to his curses for a second. "You know, I've never heard that creative ones before." She said with a smirk, teasing as usual. She than moved her hand to one of the pouches that was hung on her belt and searched for something. A piece of black clothing was pulled out and quickly offered it down to him. "You better learn the healing thing quickly." She added while she offered, keeping her gaze on his wound. Okay, she wasn't going to be able to heal a wound at the back of his knee. She didn't had enough power yet anyways.
❧ Waiting for him to get whatever he had to do, Alphaess ran a gaze around, inspecting the dead bodies that lied silently on the ground. "So, you've got the hang of this." She looked around the ones that he had knocked, trying to look like she was counting for a long time. "That makes...umm, let's see... three?" She said with a casual voice, holding herself from chuckling. "And I've got... ah, well, too many to count." She laughed out at the last part. Again, he asked for it. If there was going to have a 'boasting-game' Alphaess would definitely play; and also win. She always won, no matter what type of game that was. And when it came to pride and boasting, no one could make it better than Alphaess.
❧ "But, really, three is great." Alphaess gave a one last chuckle, this time a little bit more silent, as she was talking to herself. She had been in a quite good mood after all the entertainment she had, she even felt like helping him up. So, she offered a hand down to him, having a content smile on her face. "Not planning to lie in the mud all day, do you?" She teased again, tilting her head slightly to the side, waiting for him first to learn more about the other female. To be honest, she didn't even actually cared; she had fought the Hobbes not to save her, more to entertain herself with a good fight. But, she wasn't going to talk about that. Now that she had her entertainment, it wouldn't do any harm to hear what that woman had to say.

Up until this point, Flick was actually quite impressed with his abilities to have knocked a Hobbe down and fried two more. But, when he lifted his head, he noticed that Alphaess had managed to down a hell of a lot more than he. Shown up...again. Flick scowled and held his hand tighter to where he'd been hit, his left eye closing in momentary discomfort as his fingers accidentally brushed over the worst part of the wound. To Alphaess's comment, Flick raised his eyes up to her and offered a grin as best he could despite the wound. "Oh, definitely. It's a gift." But he took the black cloth gratefully and used it to tie around the front of his knee all the way around so that it mostly covered the wound. He tightened it about the knee, assuring himself there was no way he could heal it with Will. Not yet, anyway. Perhaps that would come in later. Flick visibly scowled at Alphaess's pretending to count the three bodies he'd downed. Upon speaking, Flick rolled his eyes visibly and muttered: "They were...big ones." Actually, that wasn't true. The Hobbe that had hacked at his leg hadn't even been able to reach much higher than his knee. It seemed like a Hobbe thing--to hack low, bring the enemy down, then decapitate them. Thankfully, Flick had been able to zap the Hobbe in time. Being decapitated by a munchkin was not how Flick wanted to go. He wasn't one for the cliché of dying in a room with your family surrounding you. Pah. Flick far preferred the idea of dying of old age on his own, isolated island with no people around for miles and all the money he ever would need. Ah, wasn't that ideal...
But, as Alphaess offered her hand down to Flick, he was genuinely skeptical. Last time he'd touched Alphaess in any manner she'd literally tried to snap his fingers off, so...he was a little cautious, sort of like a jumpy cat in the manner. But, to her words, Flick lost the skeptic expression and took her hand gratefully, using it to hoist himself up to his feet and slowly dust himself off. Instantaneously there was a jolt of sheer pain that ran up and down his left leg. Flick cringed and immediately let go of Alphaess's hand, lifting his left leg and clutching at it with a: "Son of a--" Then, he remembered the woman. Flick's gaze snapped up to the woman who was at the brink of the trees, partially cowering behind a low hanging bough. "Ehr, I mean..." Flick cleared his throat, slowly lowering his leg back down to hesitantly place it down upon the ground (though he refrained from putting too much weight down on it) "He-e-e-y..."
The woman immediately tightened her grip upon the branch and gouged her fingers into the bark of the tree. Flick stole a brief glance at Alphaess before coming to the realization that Alphaess was not a people person. For once, Flick actually had the good of the woman in mind and realized that if Alphaess were to try and comfort her, she might just end up scaring the woman. Ehr--not that Alphaess was scary but she sort of had the wolfish appeal that might tend to make people...bolt...upon seeing her for the first time. Flick was usually good with words and, generally, giving a false sense of security altogether. It was probably due to his years of making 'friends' and then stealing what they had. Ah, but that was water under the bridge now.
Flick looked to Alphaess and held a hand up which was clearly a: "I got this." Even though, every other time he'd said that, he never 'had it'. Flick tightened his hands momentarily into fists then loosened them and stepped past Alphaess to approach the cowering woman. Okay, it sort of hurt like hell to walk, and Flick was aware that he probably looked a bit strange with the whole 'hobbling' gait type thing. He tried to make his pace as even as he could without falling face-first into the mud because of his leg and he managed alright--aside from the slightest noticeable limp. Flick paused upon reaching the woman who, at him getting closer, she immediately crouched and hid her face further behind the tree. "Ah, hey. Are you alright?" Flick inquired a little hesitantly. He was not naturally a person who came off as concerned about others, but he could easily fake it. After all, he was a pretty gifted actor. Yet, the woman resisted from coming out from behind the tree and merely just stared at Flick with a baffled look of fear upon her face. Flick had no idea why she seemed to be so afraid of him. It wasn't like Flick was very intimidating in the least. In fact, Flick was the furthest thing possible from intimidating. Maybe because of the blood...? Coincidentally enough, it happened to be Flick's own blood. Flick managed a sheepish smile and wiped his hands off on his pant leg, smearing the dark red substance and then lifting his hands to show that he was 'clean'. Sort of...
"I'm...Felicity," The woman whispered in a slightly hollow voice. She seemed to be clutching something in her hands that glinted with slight luster. Could this be what the Hobbes had wanted to steal? Flick had no idea, but the woman shyly peeked out half her face to peer at Flick: "You guys aren't Heroes. Are you? I thought I recognized you." To this, Flick could only glance back at Alphaess for a brief moment. Well, he was no Hero. Alphaess wasn't exactly a Hero of the Guild but, in actuality, she still was a Heroine.
"Ahm, sort of." Flick decided to say at last. The woman's face peeked out a little more at this, and Flick could clearly see more of what she looked like. She had a rather pale, moon-like complexion with hardly a fault and somewhat rounded features with a petite chin. She must've been younger than Flick--perhaps between fifteen and nineteen if he could guess. Her eyes were a deep, dark brown that were somewhat like a chocolate and her hair was blonde and braided neatly back as to avoid falling in her eyes. She really was quite attractive but Flick assumed she had the possibility of being far too young for him (he was bad with ages. And that, unfortunately, happened to be quite an issue around Albion...) The girl wore what looked to be a simple white and blue sort of 'dress' type deal, but it was spattered with mud and flecks of Hobbe blood. The dress was torn around the hem, most likely from her struggle with the Hobbes and in her hands she clutched a jewel-encrusted goblet. It was quite pretty with a green and red jewled-rim and was mostly gold about the base. It could've...well, it could've been worth quite a lot. Flick found himself staring and, abruptly, he lifted his gaze up to 'Felicity'. "Where...where do you live? Uhm...this seems a little far out in the woods, don't you think?"
"I got lost." Felicity admitted in a slightly small voice. "There's an inn a little ways down near the Cullis gate. My father runs it and I was supposed to meet up with him there..." Then, as though she'd just come up with an idea, Felicity perked up slightly and her brown eyes flitted up to Flick's face. He actually stood quite a few inches over her height--perhaps even a foot. No wonder she might be intimidated by him and Alphaess. "Perhaps you'd like to come? You saved my life, after all. I'm sure my father would you drink for free there. No charge," She added at the end, in a slightly more pleasant voice. To this, Flick glanced over his shoulder back at Alphaess and raised an eyebrow as though asking for permission. He actually hadn't...drunk any alcohol for quite some time. Maybe it'd be a nice change of pace...

The Alphaess
❦ Hєяσιηє σƒ Kησтнσℓє Gℓα∂є ❦

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Greatwood
❧ To Flick's reply, Alphaess just kept her grin, replying with a cheeky way in return. "They were largest Hobbes I've seen." She tried to make her sound came out as dramatic as possible, in a sarcastic way. "What a hero." She said more silently (making sure the girl wouldn't hear), trying to make her voice sound like a damsel in distress, half with an unstoppable laugh. Now that she had the upper hand to tease, she was going to use this opportunity to the last bit. After all, this doesn't happen every day. No, wait. It actually happens everyday; either Flick zapping, burning or crashing into something, or causing something quite alike. Actually, Alphaess did found this annoying at first but... she had to admit, it was good to have someone goofy around. It was just so entertaining, and that was something she carved so much. A good fight or a good laugh; she simply loved it. And with Flick around, it was a little more easier to enjoy, even that her personal space was somewhat invaded and her food... sadly had to be shared. What big drama for Alphaess. But, again, with Flick around, she didn't even came to realize the fact that she haven't seen her white-furred companion for a few days. Probably, it was protesting that Flick was staying in its territories.
❧ Easily, Alphaess pulled him on his feet, being slightly 'gentle' compared to her usual strength. When he let go of her hand and cringed, her grin faded away slightly, looking down at his leg with a bit of pity. She probably had to get that fixed up, if she didn't wanted to like... drag him around. Or have him limp after her all the time. When he barely stopped himself, she crossed her arms and took a step back, turning her head at the direction the woman hid herself at. She couldn't say she was too interested in meeting someone, nope, she never was interested in human contact. She liked balverines. Time to time 'wolves' but these creatures were just rare. And beautiful. Seeing the woman was actually pretty scared of them, she slightly rolled her eyes. That happened. A lot. And now, the spatters of dark red Hobbe blood covering her shawl wasn't even making her look friendlier. Scruffy and dirty hair, a black shawl, armor with balverine symbols, various weapons hung on her back, belt and even legs, being a walking armory wasn't the most friendly thing. Normally, Alphaess would do her job, defend the ones that need, kick the butts she had to and just leave. Silently and without a simple greeting or hearing a 'thank you'. Alphaess was about to suggest just leaving, leaving the woman alone and do whatever she wanted to around. She would find a way back for sure.
❧ Surprising thing was, Flick was seem to interested in talking to the woman. Well... Alright. Alphaess would allow that, maybe he would screw that up and something funny could come from that. Or maybe something interesting could happen. Though, Alphaess wasn't quite interested in a reward of some sort, she could still learn something from that woman. Like why she was in her forest. When Flick passed by, she just watched him, looking down at the piece of cloth wrapping the wound tightly. She could sense he was in pain, and notice the slightly limping in his walk, but she wouldn't do anything about it. What would she do anyway, magically heal his leg? Oh, wait, she could do that, but not right now. Or here. Plus, she didn't wanted to hold his knee in her hands. It was so weird. A second after, while she was just staring after Flick, Alphaess decided to fallow, just in case. Well, fallowing felt strange. She was more of a sheep than a wolf, she was so used to being the leading one, now she couldn't even be the one that fallowed. Alphaess halted at a distance, giving him and the woman some space, guessing that it would be, oh gosh, she couldn't believe thinking this but, better to let Flick handle it this time.
❧ Flick had managed to communicate with this weird woman, Felicity as she said. Alphaess was still standing quite away from the two, but was able to hear clearly. She had her eyes on the woman, studying her briefly. You guys aren't Heroes. It had only made Alphaess to give a silent sigh. Yeah... That was how being unpopular was and the main reason she never spoke to the ones she saved. Well, to be honest, she wasn't that unpopular. She had some renown. But at the negative way. But clearly, Alphaess enjoyed being feared more than simply being unknown. We it looks like it had some good parts too, like the girl (yeah, she seem to be more of a girl than a woman as Alphaess could see her face) not running away, screaming. She shot a quick glance at Flick, coming eye to eye with him for a second. When he replied for both, she only rolled her eyes a little, crossing her arms meanwhile. It was hard to stay silent like this but... she knew she couldn't even came this far if she had made all the speaking.
❧ An inn? What, what, she was inviting them to an inn? Wow, that was strange, she never had any offer like that before. Actually, she never had any kind of kind offer at all. Unless you count the bribes people were willingh to give, so she would leave them alone. This was indeed strange, and Alphaess was rather surprised. But again, a drink might be a quite... bad idea. The last time... It was quite unpleasant. And the worst part of it was the fact that she didn't even remembered most of it. If Alphaess were to drink, she would change... into a whole different person, with the smallest bit of alchol. Even with the idea, Alphaess shivered slightly, hoping they wouldn't notice at all. "I don't think that's a good idea." Alphaess said with a rather cautious look on her face. She was... tensed with the idea of being all woozy. But before she said something else, she noticed the look Flick gave, asking for permission. Actually, it wouldn't do any harm, as long as she could avoid drinking. Plus, since this girl was great full, why wouldn't the father be? And, an innkeeper would have food, right? Hmmm... sounds... delicious. Stopping the urge to lick her lips hungrily, Alphaess sighed slightly.
❧ Alphaess still had her arms crossed and looked away for a second, thinking. After a while she turned back at them, letting her arms loose on the side, than placing one over the sheath. "If I don't have to carry you around, guess a short visit might be a good change." She shoot a glare at Flick. If he thought he could walk, it wouldn't be a problem. "Is there any meat or anything edible at all at that inn?" She questioned, now turning her gaze to the girl, she wasn't even caring if she would be scared or not at the moment. Well, she was quite taller and stronger than the girl, perhaps pretty dirty (all the dirt from her roll and Hobbs blood stains all over) and scary-looking too thanks to these. Silently, thinking about there would be at least the slightest bit of human contact, Alphaess dusted off herself and pulled her shawl a little to make sure it was covering her right shoulder and arm, than returned her golden eyes back on the girl.
