◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢ Flick was petrified. Not only had he never seen a Balverine before but this one seemed...massive. White. He'd heard tales about White Balverines. They were monstrous beasts who were much larger and more powerful than the average Balverine...Even worse, the Balverine dropped to all fours and seemed to be staring at him with its blood red eyes. Then, its maw opened for a scream and instantaneously Flick brought his hands up to cover his ears. He was very sure in that moment that this was it. He was dead. Being devoured by a wolffish creature painfully did not seem a very heroic way to go...Plus Flick was pretty sure that he looked like a snivelling coward right now.
Then the unexpected happened: a blade was pushed between the Balverine and Flick. Flick instantly put his hands up in a surrendering gesture, looking fearfully with green eyes over to...a woman. Or, as far as he could tell it was a woman. The hood she wore obscured most of her features but her voice was most definitely feminine. Flick actually liked to consider himself a charmer of sorts and there had been more than one occasion in which he'd won over a con by seducing a woman. Yet, in this case, Flick did not think that would work. This woman seemed...odd. She'd literally turned on the Balverine with a seeming intent to challenge it for dominance. How odd. This Balverine could have...attacked her by now, couldn't it have? It actually almost seemed...well, tamed. It had listened to her for a spell there, after all. But Flick had half a mind to think this woman was crazy. She was practically challenging a...wolf-creature...for dominance. In her distraction, Flick figured it might be the best time to make his exit.
"Uh...okkaaaay..." Flick mumbled, putting up his hands. He took a cautious step back, mouth was careful not to sink into the mud again. "Nice...meeting you, I guess. Thanks for...uh...whatever you did there. But I'm gonna...y'know, go now. So..." Flick bit his lip and, making up his mind, he quickly whirled around to bolt.
That is, he would have ran. Had his foot not become lodged in the mud and stopped him rightaway. Humiliatingly and unfortunately...Flick was stuck. In the mud. Again. He glanced over his shoulder at the woman and Balverine and winced. "Uhm...you know...once I get out of this mud."

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Darkwood
❧ The little dominance fight lasted for a few more minutes, before the white Balverine finally gave in to it's master. It shook it's head with disappointment, the dark leather collar making a faint clinging voice as it was shaken. It slightly bowed it's head down, telling he have accepted her dominance like always but still not completely giving in. Alphaess chuckled silently, keeping her gold-ish brown eyes on the creature while standing tall and confident. "Don't be that sad, my friend. I'm not that annoying." She said with her grin remained on her face, which made the Balverine roll it's eyes. Or so it was looking like. The Balverine took a few steps back and sat down, letting it's Alpha to take on from here.
❧ Once Alphaess was finished with the Balverine, her gaze turned to the man that she haven't payed much attention. But she couldn't manage to locate him at the first look. Confused, Alphaess looked around a bit than at her Balverine, who snorted silently and pointed at a direction with his muzzle, having a pretty bored look on it's face. Turning around once more, finally spotting the man that have gotten stuck in mud. Surely this man wasn't around here, though it was quite entertaining to watch. He could not be one of the merchants she should be escorting couldn't it? She have been told to find them at the camp, nowhere around here. And he couldn't be just a merchant as a clever merchant would never enter Darkwood alone. So, he was either a criminal, hiding in the one of the darkest places on Albion or was a very stupid wandered got himself into Darkwood without preparation. Having a slightly curious look on her face she took a few cautious steps towards the man, still keeping her silver twin-swords in her hands tightly. Who know's when you'll be ambushed. At least living in the wilderness have though her this. Never let your guard down. Her movements were much like a wild animal's, this was the main reason most thought that she was just an animal. She was cautious with every step, always knowing where to step not to get into a situation similar to the man. "So, who should it be to disturb out peaceful woods? a Bandit I presume. Weird... Even bandits like to stick in groups in this crazy place" She said, her words came out cold but confident. A grin reappeared on her face as she started to circle around the place that the man was stuck in to get a better view and to study the male. He does not seem to have any weapons, other than a sheath for something would suite a dagger.

◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢ "Not a bandit," Flick grumbled irritably. He glanced up at the hooded woman with a quick look but he could scarcely even see her eyes under her hood. Just her...rather intimidating grin. The simple look pushed Flick to try and tug his leg, in a desperate attempt to free himself. No good. In fact, he just seemed to be sinking...further. He probably looked pretty silly he figured, and he crossed his arms across his chest to try and look a bit more...macho. If that was even possible in this odd situation.
"Name's Flick. Felix, if you're fancy." Flick tilted his head inquiringly at the woman. If she was going to skewer him anytime soon he figured that giving his name was probably no harm. And it might just draw out what little time he had left before this heroine decided he was not worth her time...plus the Balverine was still an issue. Flick gave a shudder, trying to ignore the fact that the beast was still here..."I'm actually a merchant...of sorts. Y'know, trades here and there. I'm not one for the whole 'group' biz, though. I'm kinda a one man operation, y'see. Uhm...your pet. Is it going to, you know, eat me?" And Flick glanced over his shoulder warily at the white creature. It seemed to be under control by this woman but how she managed it was a complete and utter mystery to Flick. "I mean...I appreciate you...calling it off, or...whatever you did there. Are you like a dog whisperer or something?" Flick questioned. His tone, though obviously sarcastic, had a note of seriousness in it. He was truly baffled as to how this woman could hold off her beast. Not to mention but she also seemed slightly...animal-like. Her movements, the ways she acted. It was all very strange to Flick.

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Darkwood
❧ Alphaess tilted her head slightly to the side, that was what she would do when she was curious without control. Though when she realized her action, she quickly returned her head back to where it should be. The man seem to be telling the truth, or so she felt. Besides, a bandit or whoever could think that he is good enough to enter the woods alone would probably won't get stuck like that. So it was probably the second option. A fool that he thinks he is brave. She couldn't help but get her grin wider as the man tried to look a little less hopeless. Finding this rather amusing. She sheathed her weapons back, thinking that it wouldn't do much harm to get them away as this man seem to be quite easily could be taken on without weapons. Feeling slightly comfortable, she sat down crossing her legs and putting her hands on the ground. The way she sat down seem to be familiar to the Balverine who have got up and walked up to it's owner. It stood silently behind her as it continued to keep an eye on the suspicious human. "It's not so clever to wander around. Especially alone. You know there are many creatures that roam at nigh, such as us. But you are lucky we are actually heroes." She said, looking over at the Balverine with a grin on her face.
❧ As the human continued to speak, both of them listened carefully. But when the human mentioned the word 'pet' the Balverine's ear's pinned back and let out a loud growl. "No, he won't. Unless you keep on calling him a pet. He really hates it. And I don't think I can hold him off, so keep your tongue." She said with a calm and a bit teasing voice, keeping her eyes locked on the man, called Flick. The name was actually quite fun to say and reminded her of a cat's name. She did not know why but it was interesting. She wouldn't let her Balverine eat an amusing character wouldn't she? Maybe she would if he were to say anything wrong. "Hmm, kind off"She said with a chuckle, fallowed by a yawn while stretching her arms. [/color] "I am the Alpha of my pack. A hunter and slayer of Balverines. And I guess also a Heroine of the Guild too."

◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢ A particular black gnat had begun to bother Flick again, and he swatted irritably at it. He was in somewhat an awkward position--what with his one leg stuck and being forced to kneel with the other so that he didn't injure the stuck one. Unfortunately, these clothes would not be any use anymore...he was simply drenched in mud and dirt. To her comment about his solitude and her being a 'hero', Flick frowned. A hero? What kind of hero had a...wolf...for a pet? He opened his mouth to comment but by the look of this woman he didn't exactly think it would be best to be criticizing her for heroic qualities when she seemed like a woman who, if he said the wrong thing, would not hesitate to stab him. Flick had to play nice--even if he wasn't exactly used to it. Flirting his way out would probably not be in his best interest, either...
"Okay. Okay. Won't call him...pet. How about...Fluffy?" Of course, Flick's sarcastic and joking nature often came on when he least wanted it to and Flick realized almost immediately after that it was the wrong thing to say. He slapped a hand over his mouth and quickly muttered: "Ehr...sorry. Nice to meet you, I guess. I'm not exactly very...familiar with the Guild." Flick gave a quirky grin. It was sort of the truth. Flick had encountered the guild...once. It had not exactly been a very nice meeting. It had basically consisted of a scheme in which Flick would seduce a particularly rich woman of the guild in an attempt to get at her wealth. Unfortunately as it turned out she was...taken. Flick didn't think he'd be welcome back for a while. That guy had been mad.
"So, two questions." Flick said at last. Clearly he had given up about freeing his leg, for it was stuck fast. He glanced down at his boot and gave an irritable frown, then turned back to the woman. "One...what's your name? And two...uh, what exactly are you doing in Darkwood? If it isn't business, that is. As you can see--" And he gave his leg a tug. "That's working out great for me."

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Darkwood
❧ Alphaess watched the man trying to prevent himself from getting stuck further. She noticed that his face have changed as she mentioned about the Guild. "Not quite a clever choice of words for your own health. I really don't care... But he does" She replied with a sly grin forming on her face, pointing back at the raged creature who was obviously barely holding itself. "Hmph, strange. Everyone around knows the 'mighty Guild of heroes'." She spoke with sarcasm when she came to the 'mighty Guild part' She was never one that had been about the Guild much. She always preferred going her own way, without the limitations of the Guild. No rules, more fun. "Going into the Darkwood alone, not knowing about the guild... considering these actions, I really believe you are not from around here aren't you? I barely even believe you are from Albion." She said with a chuckle at the last part. She put her arms on the ground behind her and leaned on her back, trying to get even more comfortable. She was acting sort of a feline and she was already aware of her action. The Balverine was still staying put, waiting for an order. Actually it really wished for an order to attack already. The Balverine have found this a waste of time and though it would be better to get rid of this irritating human. At least it would like to leave him with his fate alone.
❧ Alphaess stood up silently without saying anything, she neatened her clothing which was nothing else than leather armor that suited her skill abilities the best. The light armor allowed her to remain her speed, while it covered most of her body and her face, giving her protection the same time making it harder to identify her. She silently cleared her throat casually before talking, keeping her golden eyes on Flick. "Ah well, since you are not from around here I'll tell you a bit about myself. I am Alphaess the famous Hunter, Heroine and Balverine Slayer. Or perhaps the infamous, I can't really be sure but most call me that. They also say that I am rather cold, a bit cruel and completely insane... But that is not completely true... They forget the fact that I am also pretty talkative too"Alphaess replied with a calm and a bit casual manor, letting a silent laugh at the lest part about her personality. The things they said about her was right, everybody around, even the other heroes found her rather odd, she was always to strange one that acted more like a beast than a human. She felt a bit pity and sympathy for the man's leg as he continued to get into an even worse condition, mud covering all of his clothing. His clothing wasn't quite suitable for the harsh weather and swampy ground. "So for the other question, yes, to be honest I am here for business. Normally, we would just be wondering around to collect trophies to show off or simply for just messing with the residents of the woods. But not today. Today we have a bargain."She spoke with a happy and innocent voice, not letting any space between her words to make sure he wouldn't be able to reply. She took a short break, her grin seem to get a bit more sly. Crossing her arms above her chest she continued. "You see, we were on our usual Guild stuff. Escorting some merchants through Darkwoods. And it seems we have just found our self a new customer there. And since you are pretty much not expected, I'll give you a discount. I say, I'll get you safely to the Darkwood camp and than out of this dreaded woods without a scratch. Well, perhaps with some scratches if you keep on speaking to the Balverine but other than that... And we will do it for cheap. Just one hundred golden coins just for now."

◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢ Flick remained somewhat silent as the 'Heroine' went on. Actually, he was fairly talkative himself but with the white Balverine lurking behind this woman he would have to choose his words rather carefully. He didn't think Balverines to be all that intelligent but, of course, he couldn't say that. After all, he was getting the feeling that it didn't think of him as any more than a nuisance...and possibly a snack. Yet, when the woman continued about the guild and the suggestion that he might not even be from Albion...Flick furrowed his brow and crossed his arms. Surely, he looked silly...stuck in the mud, on one knee. Everytime his leg moved slightly the mud would make a squelching noise and he felt himself sink further. The brown substance was up to his thigh now, and growing ever more uncomfortable. If he didn't get loose soon he might be here for a while.
Then the woman stood. Flick could not get a good grasp on what she looked like...except golden and eyes and, int he lighting, perhaps a hint of red hair under her hood? At least, that was what it seemed like. He felt a little intimidated under her glance at some points when she spoke and he continuously averted his gaze from her to check up on the Balverine...and assure it wasn't going to pounce. "Alphaess?" Flick repeated with an odd expression. "Alphaess...the Balverine slayer. Seems like a mouth full. Why don't I call you...Red? Seems fitting, perhaps." It was obviously joking and Flick had no idea whether she'd take him seriously or not. But he went silent again as she went on.
Once she'd finished, Flick's eyes widened. A hundred coins? "A hundred coins?" He repeated, flummoxed. The trade he was on his way to would only put him at around three hundred. And this was assuming that he had not lost his money pouch within the mud...at least his traveling bag was in one piece. For now.
"Tell you what," Flick tried, giving his leg another useless tug. He let go and peered back up at Alphaess. "I'll give you fifty now and the remaining half when we arrive. I don't trust your p--your Balverine not to eat me if I pay you right off."

❦ Hєяσιηє σƒ Kησтнσℓє Gℓα∂є ❦
➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳ ➳
Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Darkwood
❧ Alphaess let out a silent, awkward chuckle. This man pretty much the only one that actually dared to joke around with a rouge heroine such as her. It was a weird feeling for her but she couldn't say that she haven't enjoyed it. Meanwhile the Balverine seem to have a bored look on it's face and the small ears were pinned back on its head. It let out a slight irritated voice silently, its head was low while it stood right next to Alphaess still. It wasn't getting it's eyes off the man not even for a single second. He wasn't trusting this man. After all, he was a strange man they have just met them in the middle of Dark wood and everyone knew it wasn't wise to trust someone you met in Darkwood. The Balverine had a complex relationship with Alphaess. They did fought over dominance and pretty much everyone else. Though the main reason of this conflict was that they both had similar personalities. They both were beasts inside even that they both were humans once. They both have left their humanity far behind.
❧ "Clever choice. Looks like we got a deal"Alphaess said with a sly grin looking at the man, her arms were still crossed. She looked to the Balverine over her shoulder and gestured with her hand for it to pull Flick out of the mud. But the response she have gotten was just a silent snort as the creature looked away from her, refusing to fulfill her order. Alphaess frown slightly, turning around to truly face the white, muscular creature. It would be an easy task for such large creature to free Flick from the mud but he really didn't felt like helping out to this travelling merchant. "Really? What are you waiting for? Want me to beg?" She said much like a hissing, her golden eyes burning as they were locked on the creature. The creature let out another snort, avoiding to have eye contact with her. Alphaess sighed loudly, turning her gaze off the beast. "Look, I do know you don't like these missions. But, hey, we'll be getting some extra gold with no effort at all right?" She said with a bit more calm voice, no signs of agression in her voice. She knew that she couldn't make the beast obey her orders by just yelling and acting aggressive. She had to reason with it. The creature showed little interest when she mentioned getting extra gold. "How about some geese? I know you like those..." Alphaess said with a grin, her voice was a bit teasing. She knew in almost every other kinds of meat, the creature enjoyed it the most. Unless you count human flesh of course. The creature gave a sigh and shook it's head silently, approaching Flick on four legs carefully not to get itself also stuck in the mud. Though it was quite used to such environment and it's claws were pretty much made for the mud. Once I made it's was up to Flick. The creature groaned, looking back at it's master before acting. With Alphaess's approving nod, it stood on it's hind legs. Grabbing his clothing's scruff with his jaw, carefully not to cut his skin with his fangs, or else it would both have to mess with another Balverine. And more likely this would make Alphaess pretty upset and it would not be able to receive it's reward. Once the cloth was locked between his fangs, the Balverine started pulling from the scruff pretty roughly. The mud was no match for the strength of the mighty Balverine.

◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢ As soon as Alphaess turned towards her Balverine, Flick realized what she intended. His eyes widened, and his entire body tensed. In no way did he trust that white...wolf thing. He was sure if he screwed up once it wouldn't hesitate to kill him. But, luckily, Alphaess seemed to be having some difficulty with getting it to cooperate, and Flick was glad. But then the conversation took a turn for the better or, in Flick's case, the worse. The Heroine seemed to be...winning the Balverine over. The massive creature seemed to sigh and then it approached Flick, much to his dismay.
"Wait, what?!" Flick exclaimed, trying to glance over her shoulder at the Balverine. "You can't be serious--" But, apparently, they were very serious. The creature seemingly got permission from Alphaess and, behind Flick, stood upon its hind legs. Then the creature stooped down to grab the neck of his clothing on its jaws, with Flick unable to stifle a yelp of discomfort. Having that creature's teeth pressed so close to his skin was unnerving....how well tamed was this thing exactly? Surely a single nick in his skin and that might be it for Flick...he'd heard how the Balverine 'curse' was transferred.
Once the creature had gotten a proper hold it gave a mighty tug and, almost immediately, there came a sucking noise from the mud and, after a few moments, Flick's leg came loose. Thankfully, his boot had remained on but from the thigh down his leg was absolutely coated in disgusting, dirty mud. Flick could not help but scowl at the miserableness of it all. That, and the fact that he was practically being held in the jaws of a huge white Balverine...
Despite the situation, however, Flick was still himself. He crossed his arms irritably and glanced out at Alphaess. "Right...so that happened. Say, 'Red', do you wanna tell your Balverine to...y'know, let me down? The whole 'hot predator breath on the back of my neck' thing is starting to get a little...freaky." Of course, there was nothing Flick could do while the Balverine had its jaws in his clothing, so he would merely have to wait until Alphaess ordered it to let him down. Until then, he was sure he looked pretty silly...

Balverine hunter - Twenty-four years - Darkwood
❧ The panic Flick was in actually was quite entertaining for Alpahess. She should be very lucky to come across such a good source of entertainment. She always found the anixety about such quite strange. She rarely felt concern lately. "No worries, he'll act nicely. Right?" Alphaess said with a wide grin on her face, shooting off a serious glare to the Balverine after Flick's uncontrollable yelp. Although the reply she have gotten from the creature was just an irritated snort.
❧ The Balverine also could feel the uneasiness of the man. Growling silently from it's throat with slight aggression and annoyance, though it was still quite loud up close. And where Flick was pretty close enough. It gave off a snort to the man in the neck. While it was keeping the neck of his cloth between his jaws and he was hovering a little above the ground. Though even while this, he was still trying to keep his coolness. The white creature took the man out of the swampy mud surface, carrying I'm to right in front of Alphaess. Alphaess raised her right hand and swiftly gestured to the ground, looking up into the blood red eyes. The Balverine let out a low purr-like voice. Obeying the order for the first time without protesting, actually finally have recived an order that didnt bothered it much, opened it's strong jaw, letting the merchant loose from it's grip.
❧ Alphaess kept her eyes on Flick, her golden brown eyes studied the mud soaked clothing he had on. Most of his clothing were covered with black mud. Alphaess gave off a smile. "Enjoyed the ride?"
