I nodded, sneezing as the dust billowed up. "Where were you before that?"

Christopher shrugged. "Old apartment building. We only stay in one place for short amounts of time. You ready?" he asked.

Lily

I took a deep breath and stared down at the knife. In the dim light, it looked innocuous. Hard to believe that it could kill someone. "Yeah. I'm ready."

Christopher spoke carefully. "The first think you want to do is get comfortable with holding it in your hand." He showed her the proper way to hold the knife. "The more weary you are around it the more likely something is going to happen."

Lily

Biting my lip, I frowned. That was sort of unnerving. "Okay..." I mimicked his grip, although it was a little off.

Christopher walked over to her. "Move your thumb up a little bit."

Lily

I tried, really, but my hold was still all wrong. It was just the kind of thing that I couldn't replicate just by watching. I was reminded of taekwondo, when I sometimes had to move the younger students limbs around to get it right.

Christopher gently took her hand and placed it correctly. "Here." he said as he let go of her hand and took a step away.

Maya looked at Quinn. "Where are you from?"

Lily

"Ohh... that makes more sense!" I exclaimed. Now the knife felt better in my hand.

Quinn

"I'm from Oregon." I explained. "I didn't want to stay there anymore, but I still wanted to stay near the water."

Maya pulled her knees and listened to him. "What was Oregon like?" she asked.

Christopher nodded. "Yes, thats it." he said and then showed her a fighting stance.
