I skirt around the edge and look at the shape

[Inspector_Javert]

The creature stirred and a pair of scarlet eyes appeared in the gloom. Charlie froze, blade held out before him in silence. The pair watched each other, each as wariy as the other. Suddenly, the creature leaped forward into the light. It's form was seen - it was some kind of demon. All fangs and slashing claws. It leaped towards Charlie, but then turned and snarled at Magdalena.

Magdalena
I glare at the demon, holding my blade out, "Wow. That is truly ugly." I remark

[Inspector_Javert]

It snarls at her and begins to pace to one side, like a predator circling its prey. Charlie watched it with narrow eyes, oblivious to anything else that was shappening. It was to no surprise when, with a snarl, another demon burst from a hedge and crashed into his back. The pair went tumbling to the ground and a fist and claw battle erupted in the courtyard. Charlie was flat on his front, grappling with the demon behind his back - trying to get it off him. Meanwhile the demon was slashing at his exposed back with razor claws.

Magdalena
I run up and slash at the other demon, they are hurting Charlie, and I want to help

[Inspector_Javert]

"Get the other"
He pushes the injured demon away.
"I'll deal with this one"
He reached for his blade, but then let out a sigh of annoyance as his noticed it lying a few feet away. His shirt was in tatters on his back, a dark red rune visible through the remains of the fabric.

Magdalena
I nod then see the red rune and freeze. Staring at it. I finally stutter, "W-what.... is... t-that?"

[Inspector_Javert]

"I ... It doesn't matter. You just have to trust me when I say it'll help us. Ok?"
He said over his shoulder.

Magdalena
I shake my head and say, "Fine." I slashed at the demon, then continued, "But you have to tell me why, what, and how you have it when this is over."

[Inspector_Javert]

He nodded.
"You'll see"
To Magdalena's surprise, he leapt forward towards the demon. His shape seemed to blur and for a moment, he seemed to become a large, black cat-like creature with a forked tail. Within seconds the demon was dead and Charlie stood once more before her. He panted slightly and cast his eyes downwards to his feet.
