The Definite or Defiant ~1x1~ V.1

I gently rubbed her cheek. "It's better if you lay on your side." I suggested softly. "Does your stomach hurt, Precious?"

"Mm..." More tears fell and she turned on her side. "I can't sleep." She whispered. She set her hand a few inches from my hand, her hand still being in my lap, too weak to reach any farther.

I gently slid down beside her and held her hands to me. I kissed her nose and gently rubbed her tummy. "Nightmares or you just can't?" I asked softly. I moved a bit closer to her, as far as her tummy would allow. "We can talk until you fall asleep, if you want." I suggested.

"It hurts to talk... But you can talk..." She let out. "I like your voice. Love."

I nodded. I moved my extra hand (not the one rubbing her tummy) up to gently rub her neck. I laid a warm, soft wing over her. "You know... When you first told me you were pregnant I was really scared. Well...- Yeah. I've never had to deal with a baby before... But then I got to thinking about it. How bad could that baby be? Yeah, it'll have my blood in it... But it'll have you too. And you're the sweetest person I've ever met. You're sweet and kind and beautiful... You're amazing." My voice got softer as I talked. "So that kid's gotta be sweet. There's no way I can cancel out what you've got on your side." I set my nose to hers. "He- or she, since the nurse won't do a screening- will be the most perfect baby. Ever. And it'll even have two friends to play with." I smiled. "Everyone's gonna be jealous because our baby is gonna be the bestest."

Blaze let out a soft, small giggle. "I love you. And... I agree. It'll be the best baby." She coughed softly, shivering.

"Sh, it's okay." I pulled her to me, wrapping my warm wings around her and offering her a little extra heat. I hated the cold, and I just knew that her being cold was awful. "I hope it's just like you." I nuzzled my face into her hair. I hummed softly. Then I let out a soft laugh. "When I was a teenager, in high school, I used to be in a band." I informed Blaze. "I was the main singer, and we were a big hit. In the school anyway." I rubbed her back, warming it up. Then I went to her arms, rubbing them gently and bringing heat to my hands as I did so. "Would you like to hear a song? I'm not that great anymore though. Just a warning." I moved a lock of her hair out of her face. "Don't say yes, just nod if you want me to."

Blaze smiled gently and gave a node. She curled up to me.

I cleared my throat, a slight blush coming to my cheeks. "Okay. . ." You know what? If she liked it then she liked it. I lightly bit my lip, and then I started singing 'Demons' by Imagine Dragons. Softly. As I sang I rubbed Blaze's cheeks, and then I just held her in my warm embrace.

Blaze curled up slightly, relaxing. She smiled and quietly sang along with me.
