Dereth Wolfheart, Damion "Hawk" Raynor
Dereth was ready to fight to the death, this was what he was trained for, he'd give everyone the time they needed to escape. That was what he did. Then everything just seemed to happen so fast. Next thing he seemed to know was he was out of the fight and away. It was a flurry of fire, arms and horses. Eventually his feet were off the ground and he found himself being carried by Hawk. The idiot never knew when to stay out of trouble.
"This does not count as you saving my life," Dereth couldn't help but tease. There was something important he had learned a long time ago, when you face death every day of your life you learn to joke to keep yourself stable. That was how he lived.
"I'm sure it doesn't," Hawk knew the exact same, possibly better than Dereth did.
"Where'd we lose the others?" Dereth questioned only once they landed near their horses, Valor ready to fight still.
"Their horses ran for it and I grabbed you before you did anything stupid. The demon gave up once he lost sight of us it seems," Hawk explained as he mounted his own, wings folding up against his black again. "I can catch up to them but I'm not sure if you can." Dereth's horse was certainly slower than Hawk's, made form sprints really and heavy combat.
"We try anyways," Dereth pulled on Valor's reigns to get his attention. "We need to know what they know about who survived and where they went."
"What about that creature with them?" Hawk questioned as he followed Dereth's lead, they were already bringing their horses to a canter.
"We'll figure that out later," Dereth yelled over the flurry of hooves that came as they rode.
Torquil
It had been an accident when he separated from the others after what had happened. His body was still weak from trying to heal itself. He could keep up with the others on foot but in the dust that was kicked up and the roars that caused him to look away, he had taken a brief wrong turn. He spent his time back tracking and trying to find them. He had come across them again, but he stayed back in the shadows, looking like a statue. He wasn't sure what the proper response to everything was. He supposed he had to thank them for saving him from the demon but he didn't know what else to do. So, he stood there and watched, not exactly hidden very well considering his size and the fact he didn't try to conceal himself. He only stood back looking confused.
Natalia "Talia" Svear and Bruce "Bane" Swiftstride
Talia and Bane had found their way to the edge of the camp. They might have agreed to travel with the group but the simple fact was Talia had no interest in socializing and Bane's nerves always wanted Talia beside him. Bane nuzzled against Talia, as if trying to comfort and get her attention. It was an attempt to get her to lighten up about everything. Talia responded by humming at first, thinking no one could hear her. She sang softly as she ran her hands through Bane's thick brown fur, causing her wolfish friend to relax and flop down, head in her lap. She almost seemed like there was nothing wrong in the world, that things hadn't been getting steadily worse everywhere. That attacks in places like this were less frequent than they were. It was like it was a normal day, and she had just stopped to rest with her friend. Bane sighed and softly as he listened, giant body laying on the ground like an overgrown dog. He may be humanoid in many aspects but he still had several characteristics of a canine that he couldn't deny. Having Talia run her hands through his fur and scratch behind his ears certainly was pleasant.
"Fear not this night, you will not go astray. Though shadows fall, still the stars find their way. Awaken form quiet sleep, hear the whispering of the wind. Awaken as the silence grows in the solitude of the night." She kept her voice soft, hoping no one would dare to get close to her. She was basically a knife wielding maniac after all with a giant wolf friend.
((I think that should work as a general thing on posting without trying to figure out how to interject them randomly back into conversations. The song is Fear Not This Night, which was part of Guild Wars 2 but I know the
Malukah version.))
