Winter woke up and split his jaws in a huge yawn. He blinked, the smell of sugar bringing him out of his unconsciousness. Like a robot he sat up and turned his head to lock onto Jasmine. His mouth hung open comically and his eyes were barely open, grey underlining them thickly. He looked like he had been raised from the dead.

Jasmine smiled and pulled her feet towards her on the end of Winter's bed. "There is some hot chocolate on the table for you." She looked at Winter to see if she could see any difference in him. She remembered listening to the man explain they were going to merge his DNA with others and that he would change. In what ways he would change, she didn't know.

Winter turned his head farther and locked onto the steaming cup. He reached out his hands and pulled it towards him and into his chest. Taking a sip, he swallowed and shivered, his eyes brightening before he extended his neck and shook his head much the way a wolf does after getting its head wet. His hair stuck out wildly on his head, white as snow. His eyes had yellow flared around the pupils now and his white one was completely yellow, electric yellow even.
Of course he couldn't see that, but things did look a little different now. Everything was sharper now.
He had heard the man say something about the DNA not being completely loaded yet, and the nurse talking in a different galaxy saying something about extracting the fluids before they merged but they must have missed some.
He had a sudden urge to leap out of bed and jump out the window into the forest beyond. Winter looked at Mooneyes curled up in a corner, asleep then to Jasmine. "I hope you got out of there in one piece." Winter said, but he knew just by looking at her that something was up.
He moved his body from under the blankets and came to her side, kneeling in front of her and taking her hands in his. "Tell me what's going on."

Jasmine watched Winter move. She noticed his eyes and blinked a few times. "Your eyes, they are yellow. Something happened to you, but what I don't know. More importantly, are you okay? I know you were awake during the entire thing..." Jasmine let her hands rest in Winters. She was glad he looked alright but something about him was different.

[stormy tom]

"I'm pretty wiped but I'm honestly more worries about you." Winter replied. "Everything that happened was physical for me, so the pain will eventually go away. You've got more going on. If you don't want to talk about it that's okay. I just don't want you to tear yourself up about it. I didn't really see what was going on so I have no idea what happened. Pretty useless rescuer, huh?" He smiled sadly.

"Once again, that entire facility was made just for you. I was just the bait. But as for talking, maybe you can help." Jasmine sighed and stared at their hands. "I just can't stop thinking about that man that I killed. I didn't even think twice about it when it happened but now, I just feel...well I don't know how I feel."

[stormy tom]

Winter nodded knowingly, closing his eyes. "I know how you feel. I've killed people and it's not a pretty feeling. I still regret doing what I did to my brother and everyday I try to justify it. He tortured me as a kid so don't I deserve to have my revenge? He tried to kill me first so doesn't that mean I'm granted the same right?
You had to listen to my screams, right there in front of you. You must have been angry. I didn't see what happened, but knowing that you did that makes me feel happy in a way because it means you cared enough about me to do that. That doesn't make it right, and I still realise your own pain, but I think there are different sides to this one." He took a sip of his hot chocolate, smiling. "Either way, you're still Jasmine and you're still mine." He stood up and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her lips. "You're supposed to push me back down and tell me I'm not supposed to get up yet." He smiled. "Come on, I'm full of drugs and look at me."

Jasmine kissed him back and smiled. "You are right, you shouldnt be up. But you arent just on painkillers, i think something else is in your body. Maybe the DNA of the animals they injected into you."

[stormy tom]

"Maybe, but I think I would have noticed something." Winter touched his teeth, moving his lip upwards. His canines felt a little longer and sharper than before. "I guess this could be interesting. What else do you think will happen? Will I grow a tail and claws and start spewing poison and climbing up walls? Do you think flies taste good?"
Winter went back to his bed and sat down on the edge. He still felt really dizzy and disorientated and his body ached as if he had run up a mountain and then been thrown back down it.

"If that happens then I am leaving you for your mother to figure out. You need to lay back down though, get some sleep." Jasmine sat down in a chair and wrapped her arms around herself.
