ａ ｍａ ｎ ｄ ａ On April 1st, Amanda woke up before the lights came on. She sent a message to Ender's desk saying, "Happy Birthday! -Amanda." She wasn't sure if he would get it in time, but it still counted. She got dressed in the dark, trying not to wake the rest of the Army. By the time the lights came on, she was standing by her bunk, ready to go. Throughout the morning she was impatient, wanting to see Ender and give him her gifts. One of which he would get at breakfast.

When breakfast came, she went to his table and hid something behind her back, looking anxiously for him to appear. The other soldiers stared at her, probably wondering what she was doing at the commander's table, but she ignored them. As soon as she gave the first present to Ender, she would leave.

Ender jumped hearing a loud noise. Like always his head somehow collided with the bed above him and he managed to fall onto the floor. "Ow!" he yelled looking over to see Bean with a mega phone in his hand. "Where the heck did you..." Ender stopped rubbing the back of his head and the whole Dragon Army yelled happy birthday. "Yu know what it doesn't even matter." he said standing up and reaching over for his shirt that he takes off every night but Bean grabbed it. "Come on dude.." Ender said trying to snatch it. "Bean!" Yelled Ender when he ran out. Ender sighed running out after him. After time he almost caught Bean but Bean stopped pushing him into the Mess Hall. Ender glared at Bean and heard people in there Army's either teasing him or just being mean they whistled. Snatching his shirt Ender glared putting it on and saw Amanda. "Hey" he said knowing his hair was probably ask Amanda said "jacked up." he sighed. 'Sorry I haven't even showered yet. Because of my new launchie I just took in, Bean" bean shook his head.[code][/code]

ａ ｍａ ｎ ｄ ａ saw Ender walk in shirtless, chasing after Bean. Once he spoke she said, "It's okay. Happy Birthday!" She took the first surprise out from behind her back and presented it to him. "I know you don't eat, but still." In her hands was a cupcake with blue icing and the number 17 on it. She'd asked one of the cooks to make it, and it took a lot of threats- persuasion. She smiled, ignoring all of the kids watching. So what if cupcakes were childish, it didn't matter. "And I have something else, but I have to give it to you in private-" She stopped, making a face. "That sounded wrong. Not what I meant." Those within listening distance laughed and whistled. She glared at them and turned back to Ender, smiling again.

Ender laughed. Something rarely anyone heard, he hated his laugh. It was a giggle, not some boyish huff or cool grin. A silly high pitched giggle. He took the cupcake stopping himself from laughing and hugged her. "Thank you. This looks like the best thing I'll ever eat." he looked over at his table and walked over setting his cupcake down. Ian looked up at him as soon as Ender pushed him off watching him firmly hit the ground, not hard. He looked over at her offered her the now open seat then ran down the hall into the shower rooms. He wetted his hair by sticking it in a sink, ran into a shower stealing shampoo rubbed it on his head, finished up in the sink, stole someone's un-used towel, dried his head, getting slapped in his shoulder ( but not rudely ) and ran back his dark hard even darker from the dampness and water. He sat down looking over at her and slowly unwrapped the wrapper part of the cupcake. [code][/code]

ａ ｍａ ｎ ｄ ａ mouthed, "Sorry." to Ian and sat where Ender had gestured. Suddenly he ran off, to do who knows what. Maybe he was finishing getting ready, since Bean had stopped him before. While she waited, she noticed the other commanders' icy glares. Ian, of course, wasn't glaring but he didn't look as happy. Getting shoved to the floor might not have helped. Andrea was especially malevolent looking; Amanda thought of the conflict in the showers with a flinch. The intimidating female commander wouldn't forget Amanda's insults in a hurry. After a few minutes, Ender returned, his hair wet, confirming Amanda's thought. She grinned as soon as he reappeared, watching him open his cupcake. "If it turns out horrible, I'll be beating up a few cooks." She watched anxiously, hoping he would like it. So much stress over a pastry, she thought.
