The silence made poor Knuckles feel awkward yet again. He wasn't good in these situations. He glanced to his brother, not really sure what he was thinking about, which worried him. He sighed softly, pulling his knees to his chest and wrapping his arms around them, softly shivering from the cold rain. He then brought his gaze slowly back to Aiden. He sniffed slightly, knowing what all those things felt like. He might not have death to mourn over, but he still had terrible issues with other things. The hedgehog rested his gaze on Knuckles, and thus made the echidna whimper slightly, his eyes starting to sting. All the things that Aiden was saying made the echidna feel almost warm inside, but somehow, he felt guilt. He emitted a soft snuffle-like sound before glancing to his brother again, smiling as he did. He suddenly closed his eyes as he felt tears gathering on his violet-trimmed muzzle. He sniffed, but still smiled. "...you're right, Aiden. That's the only thing I can say." He said softly, lifting his head up again, despite his tear-stained muzzle. "Does someone need a hug? I think someone needs a hug." He said jokingly, but somehow sincere. Out of the blue, the brute scooped up his brother and squeezed him tight. Something strange washed over the echidna, like he suddenly knew what he should do. He knew to listen, and learn from his new sibling, but also return a few teachings. Comfort him, make sure was ok, make sure he wasn't lonely or sad or anything that made either of them uncomfortable.
To make sure he was never, ever, alone.

Aiden squeaked in fright as Knuckles suddenly held him and squeezed him tightly, but he quickly relaxed and smiled, looking up at his big brother with softly glowing red eyes. It was strange to think that just three months ago, he was an evil robotic demon that was fuelled by the fire of hatred. And now he was this sensitive, caring hedgehog, who was finally realising the realities of loss, and was a little brother to one of the world's greatest heroes, Knuckles the echidna. And he couldn't have asked for more. "Even ex-overlords need hugs, big bro." He said softly with a smile, nuzzling Knuckles' cheek with his muzzle.

Knuckles returned the gaze with his own soft violet one. He then chuckled at his statement. "Heh...indeed. Everyone needs hugs. Even grumpy guardians." He glanced off as blush flushed over his cheeks as Aiden nuzzled him. Despite his awkwardness, he couldn't deny that he loved his little brother.

Grumpy guardians. "Aha, so now you're admitting that you're the grumpy one. Just a few minutes you called me Mr. Grumpy." Aiden stated with a smirk, glad to be off the topic of his mother for now.

He huffed in defeat. "Ha. Haha. You got me, happy?" He asked before smirking back at him. He twitched his nose teasingly. "Well...about the whole demolition thing. What kind of contest does something I can do, because getting a job would be too slow and much too irritating."

This was one of those times when Aiden had to use the internet. Such a silly, slow thing to a robot, but it was useful. Luckily, one of the abilities he had managed to keep as an organic lifeform was internet access with his mind. He fell silent for several moments, seeming to be concerntrating on something hard as his gaze fixed on a pillar of the Master Emerald altar. But then he was back after about two minutes, and he looked up at Knuckles with a smile. "There's a competitive breaking competition just a couple of miles away from the racing track. It starts in the early afternoon, and all you have to do is smash through bricks and such in a set time limit. You could do that with your hands tied behind your back." He stated confidently, now with a grin. "The prize is a grand total of 1000 rings."

Upon hearing this, he instantly smirked and rubbed his hands together. "Oh heck yeah." He said with a huge smirk. "They'll rue the day they even allowed me to enter."

Aiden nodded positively. "That's good, because i've already entered you." He stated with a grin, whilst poking his floppy ear back up. "Hey, could you imagine the looks on their faces if I entered a running competition? That would be classic!"

Cheating? Drama King was not a cheater. Or...Was he? He didn't know. Aiden smiled sheepishly, scratching his ear with one finger. "Hey. I was born with that speed thing. It's not my fault i'm a very fast and good looking guy, now is it?" He retorted in a playful defense, poking Knuckles' nose just to emphasise the point. c:
