Luke was laying in bed, trying to get some shut-eye. It was hot, so his shirt was discarded somewhere on the floor, but his pajama pants stayed. He'd forgotten that he still had dark bruises from when his mother had visited.

Kris sighed, shifting, It was way to hot for sleep. She sat up and turned her bedside lamp on.

When Luke saw the lamp beside Kris flick on, he looked over and chuckled. "Can't sleep either?"

She shook her head. "No, i-Oh God," she said. "What happened to you?"

Luke blinked and looked at her. "What do you mean?" Suddenly he remembered the bruises. He cussed mentally, but shrugged on the outside. "I guess I just fell doing some yard work. Stupid weeds always trip me."

"Luke," she warned. "There's hand marks on your arm," she said. "And why are they fist size?"

Luke cleared his throat slightly, knowing he was trapped. "Oh, are they? Heh, weird..." he tried.
