Kris smiled, and looked down at her belly. "But we'll see each other soon."

Not many understand the comfort I get when I walk into a bookstore and take a deep breath as I look around. I feel at home; I feel welcome. I don't have to purchase anything. Being surrounded by books fills me with a sense of security.

Luke smiled softly. "I know," he murmured.

"I love you," she said.

(sure. ^^)

Luke stood in the kitchen, waiting anxiously for Kris to come home. He'd finally been let go after months of being in the army, and he was back home. He'd wanted to surprise her, so he'd made her dinner. Cecilie had been kind enough to take the kids out for a while to give Luke and Kris the house alone, which was perfect. All he wanted was to be with his girl again. He finished setting the dinner out on the table, then stood and waited.

Kris walked into the living room after getting home from going and getting some baby stuff. She'd been buying things, gradually building up for when the baby came. She set the stuff down, frowning. It was strangely quiet, so she walking into the kitchen. "Cec-" She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Luke there. "Oh my God," she whispered, tears springing into her eyes.

Luke stood up straighter when he heard the front door open and close. There were footsteps, and then Kris walked through the kitchen doors in what felt like slow motion. His heart skipped a beat and a soft smile settled on his lips. "Welcome home," he murmured, opening his arms for her. He saw the tears spring to her eyes and couldn't help but think that she was more beautiful in that moment than she'd ever been before.

Kristyna rushed into his open arms, hugging him tightly. "I should be saying that to you," she murmured, sobbing happily. He was finally home.

Luke caught her and hugged her tightly, holding her to his chest. It was more than amazing to be able to hold her in his arms again. "God, I missed you." He pressed his lips to her hair and squeezed his eyes shut.
