It is unknown exactly when, but long ago, ancient Spyre Specters who studied the changing light of day and night started to notice something. The days were becoming stretched out. But not like in summer - no, this was both the day and night stretching out, becoming longer. It was like around them, time was slowing down, but the Spyres continued at their normal pace. And it was steady. As it became a cause of concern, records were kept and passed down, and added to by every generation. Eventually, a year was announced that was a likely time that day and night would stop changing completely: late 2013, or early the next. Now. Half of the Spyre Specter population was in complete day, forever. The only choice was to move across the "light border" into the night.
But the Spyres who had the dark were not so eager to share...
At first the Spyres of the light thought it wouldn't be much of a dispute, but they were shocked to find that each colony of the night now dominated a huge territory. With plants adapting slowly, many were dying out. Lacking this essential part of the ecosystem, the populations of prey species were becoming unstable, forcing Spyres to increase the size of their territories. And all the Spyres realized... there would soon be war over possesion of the night.
