Brushing her fingers through the thin mane that messily fell over her mare's withers, Eva relished in the slight warmth felt through her skin. As she exhaled and watch the steam of her breath rise and dissipate into the sky, she couldn't help but envy the heat that seemed to glow from distant windows, the hearths casting a pleasantly golden glow to the glass. She'd never been one blessed with limitless patience, but even with this fault in mind, she couldn't help but feel as if her wait had been a long one. Even if Cerise had been late on the departure, certainly the driver of the carriage would've taken such into account to hurried in order to make this rendezvous on time.
Apparently tiring of the aches induced by standing out in the open cold, the dappled equine beneath her fidgeted and snorted in protest, communicating it's clear desire to reach a destination. "Peace, Louise..." Eva cooed soothingly down to the animal, her bright gaze adjusting to the path ahead. Clear. Empty, devoid of even the sound of a fellow traveler. Drumming her fingers on the edge of the leather saddle, a suddenly frigid breeze whipped past and cemented a sudden decision. She'd go on ahead and find them, rather than sit and wait like a helpless child. In an attempt to ward off the cold she drew her dark hood further over her head, letting her wealth of red hair spill out from around her neck. If it counted for anything, it served the purpose of a scarf very well.
With that semi-humorous thought lingering in her mind, she urged her horse forward, finding a comfortable trotting rhythm within several moments. Reflecting her ever wandering thoughts, Eva's eyes traveled widely as the landscape swept by them, carefully taking note of where she was and if anyone was around. If someone approached her, thinking it odd for a woman to be traveling alone, then she'd simply weave together some simply little lie, package it with a charming smile, and be set to go.
Such an amusing opportunity wasn't destined to present herself, however, as she grew increasing aware of quite a vibe to the air. Although she was still a distance from the sight of the crash, the horse was already growing tense, smelling blood on the air. A grimace began to tug at her lips, but in contrast, her brow raised curiously. Eva would wish no harm onto her cousin, of course, but the idea of encountering a difficult situation was mildly intriguing.

Not realizing he almost had his face pressed into the glass of the windowpane, Daniel forced his eyes to find something among the endless sea of trees surrounding the manor, eager to find a source for the slight noise he'd heard. It hadn't been the trill of some bird or yip of a coyote that disturbed him from his book, but something much more destructive in sound. He couldn't quite place what it was, but it sounded as if metal and wood had been crunched together. What sounded like a hiss of frustration ebbed from his lips, her brows furrowed together as his focus could still produce no cause of the noise. What a bother. No one else was supposed to be out here, hopefully it was just one of the distant farmers making a mess of his farming tools.
Using that hesitant excuse to ease his mind, he turned on his heel to saunter right back over to the chair he'd been lounging in. If Leon hadn't been disturbed by this little interruption, then there was little sense in calling out to him. While they lived together, and thus had to approve of each others company, Daniel could anticipate at the very least a snide remark for dragging his brother in here to investigate a petty noise, of all things. He could handle this on his own, thank you very much.
((I figured I'd do a short post for Daniel to get into the swing of writing for him before they all start interacting. And side note, I'm planning on having Eva's horse spook and bolt at some point, so they are, indeed, truly stranded. xD ))
