Carter sighed and looked out the window with his hands in his pocket. "It's not that easy." He muttered beneath his breath. He stood there for a minute, staring out the sliding door with his hands in his pocket.

I got under the covers and started to drift asleep.

Carter stayed there for a moment longer before heading back to their room. He slipped from beneath the blankets and closed his eyes.

I woke up early and made breakfast. "This is a new start," I whispered to myself.

Carter still lay in bed, sleeping silently.

Melody was up already, sitting on the couch watching tv. Half asleep and under a fleece blanket.

"How'd you sleep?" I asked Mel.

Mel shrugged "Good," she replied quietly and sleepily.

"Are you going to school today?" I asked her.

Melody nodded "I have an hour.." She murmured sleepily.

"Come eat," I told her as i sat some eggs and toast down.
