"Harsh, my friend. Kick a man while he's down, why don't you? What makes you think I'm trouble?" The pickpocket's eyes were swimming, but he ignored it. Here was Leon; here was his chance to talk to the kid. No way in hell was he missing it.
Ashley kept very quiet, sensing that the other Rogue had forgotten about her, and sensing that the Magma grunt hadn't payed her much attention either. Ordinarily, she would've gotten out of there quick-smart, but she'd seen the way the other Rogue lit up. So this was who he was pining for. Which meant that the Magma grunt was probably safe, at least for now.
Besides, she wanted to see where this went, if anywhere. Romance had never been her strong suit, but it very much interested her. As Justin never failed to point out when she was in a mood, she was a girl.
The Aqua grunt winced as his hand hit a loose wire. The base was shaking again. Oh, great, that meant that the Kyogre was throwing a tantrum again. He'd never been in to see it- he didn't have the clearance to approach Cosmo's prized Pokemon- but it was at times like these he wanted to barge in and tell it to stop messing with the base. It messed with most of the electricians' work, it'd mess with Richard if he was in surgery at the time; it was dangerous!
But he couldn't get to it, and he couldn't ask Cosmo to control his Pokemon without risking a bullet! He let out a frustrated breath, shaking his stinging hand. The burn the electricity had caused him was small, but it was too red for him to inspect the damage properly yet. But by Arceus did it sting! Maybe it'd give him an excuse to go to the infirmary and talk to Kaiba.
Not until he'd done his work, though, or Cosmo would have another reason to be upset. And when the leader was upset, everybody's life was harder.
