Ayumi shook her head without a word, before she silently closed her eyes. Even though she was talking to him somewhat regularly now, she still felt as if she had to watch what she said, and the distance between them remained.

Chiyo didn't answer Ayaka's question, and instead only let her eyes go from the brown-haired girl to the lifeless red-headed Kazekage. "This village has really come to care about this boy... Don't you think?" she said softly, the chakra around her hands never ceasing as she used a forbidden technique.

I recall having a favorite like a month ago... o - o But I can't remember it....

Itachi nodded before walking towards the door. "I'm going to talk with Kisame. I'll be in his room if for any reason you need me," he said, before vanishing into the long corridor.

Ayaka looked up at the old woman she knew by the name of Chiyo. She nodded stiffly. "Y-Yes m'am," she whimpered.

Chiyo glanced over at Ayaka once more, before looking back at Gaara, her eyes determined. "He's changed Sunagakure, in a way no Kazekage has ever been able to do," she said, her voice soft, yet firm and serious at the same time. "Not even his father could..."

Ayaka looked down at Gaara, smiling a broken smile, her fingers gently touching the Kazekage's pale face. "Yes, he has," she whimpered, another tear rolling down her cheek.

Ayumi had fallen asleep rather quickly after Itachi had left the room an hour ago, and hadn't gotten up ever since. Silence filled the base, and for a few seconds, it seemed even too eerily silent. The quiet aroma was disrupted as a loud explosion came from one of the base's hallways, where a wall had been blown up- not from the Akatsuki's own bomber -but instead by sound ninja, who were now flooding inside the base without hesitation.

"And he will continue to," Chiyo said, her voice become quieter every time she spoke. When she said this though, Temari froze where she was, having stood up by now. "Grandma Chiyo... you aren't...?" she questioned, though she only trailed off as the older woman didn't look up.

Itachi's head jerked up from where he was in Kisame's room, and he quickly sprinted out, looking around in the darkness. He froze in the shadows, looking around for the intruders. There had to have been several, since the five seal barrier on the Akatsuki lair required five different people to remove it.

Ayaka's eyes widened and she slowly raised her head. "Lady Chiyo," she murmured.

{ x a x I dunno... Can I try and find a different one of mine to tell you? xD I just read over the triolet and it's really horrible. I did it in five minutes, anyways. { I think I have a few lying around from when I was younger. }

As the sound of the explosion faded off, silence once again resided in the base, except for the sound of running footsteps, along with the occasional sound of a door opening and closing, though the several sound shinobi that had infiltrated the base clung to the shadows. Ayumi had heard the explosion, but barely had time to open her eyes when she suddenly felt herself being lifted up into someone's arms. What's going on...? she thought, her mind and sight unfocused and blurry as she looked up in the dark, trying to figure out who had picked her up.

"Though this Kazekage is strong, it's obvious he needs support from others..." the elder woman said, her eyes closing as the chakra around her hands disappeared. "In order to shape Sunagakure to the village it needs to be, he'll have to remember he's not alone, like in his past..."

{ Hey, I can remember some things very well though. cx Though they're the most pointless things ever. xD }

Itachi frowned when he heard footsteps, trying to decide on when he should attack. When a pair drove near enough to him, he slammed a kunai into the Shinobi's chest, right in his heart. Ayumi . . . be safe he thought, watching to see if the shadows would move again.

Ayaka watched Chiyo. "H-He was never alone to begin with,'' she said softly, her eyes still glistening with tears.

Quite an amount of sound shinobi had managed to get into the base after a while, all heading in separate directions to scout out the place, all the while staying swift and quiet. Hidan, who had been sent into a bad mood right at the sound of the explosion, could be heard swearing off in the base- whether in joy or in annoyance -while quickly taking out any sound ninja that came into his sight.
"There was a girl in one of the rooms," a shinobi mentioned to another in a quiet whisper after coming out of Itachi's room, before the man carrying Ayumi came out as well, only to head to where they had entered the base, to get out of the mayhem before getting caught with the semi-conscious Chiko girl.

"It took him a while to realize that, though, and he might still be hesitant to realize it now," Chiyo said, before her body went limp as she fell back. Sakura, who had been standing nearby, quickly went and caught the elder before she could hit the ground. "Lady Chiyo!"

{ xD Well... I can remember that when I was little, I used to be afraid of this singing pumpkin decoration my family'd put out for Halloween. My sisters once used it to scare me, so I ran away and got lost until some people who barely knew my parents found me. cx }
