When Em was out of sight and Barton arrived, I moved away from Natasha, offering him a half smile, "Perhaps you two should spend time together. It is what I promised, isn't it?" I nudge her towards him, /"Do not tell anyone about the kiss."/ I hiss into Nat's mind, before hearing the sirens blaring, "Em." I conclude, and take off at a run to find her.

Natasha slumped slightly, part of her mind was extremely relieved that Loki was now gone. She turned to Barton and for a second she tried to fight the control that had come over her mind. She had to get out of here, she had to fight it or neither of them would get free. Free, free from what? The stronger part of her brained purred. She turned to Barton and gave a small smile. "Sorry about that Barton, I have to do what Loki instructs." she said. For now instead of fighting the mind control she had been convinced that she could work with it, there didn't have to be fighting. She could be happy here.

I knew Loki would probably be looking for me. I needed to act normal, like I had no idea what was going on. But I couldn't help it! I was so giddy! I'd just let Connie go and when Loki found out he was gonna be pissed! Seeing the look on his face would be worth whatever punishment he would give me. Soon enough, I heard footsteps down the hall and instantly recognized them as Loki's. Plus his armor was clanking around so that also gave him away. I turned to face him, a smug smirk crossing my lips. "Something wrong?"

I ran into the room Em was in, letting out a breath I didn't quite know I was holding, "Thank the Gods." I murmur, wrapping my arms around her briefly, before correcting myself and pulling away, "I thought you'd left. I was so worried..." I admit, nibbling at my bottom lip, "I'm sorry. I didn't want to drive you away. I just wanted-..."

If I miss, it means I'm just another dude with a bow. It means I've been fooling myself this whole time. And that's why I never miss.

"It's fine, Nat. I understand." All alone now, Clint faked a small smile and tousled her hair. She always hated it when he did that. But did he understand? He wasn't very sure how Loki's orders meant she had to be so close to him. Barton, are you seriously jealous over your best friend? Pull it together. The Tessaract and his own mind spoke as one, so he did as he was told. Still, there was a small sense of confusion and maybe even envy in his gut that wouldn't go away. If the Tessaract was supposed to grant peace of mind, why was he like this?

My eyes widened as Loki hugged me, and when he pulled away I was speechless. Was he trying to explain himself? Trying to apologize? The weight of what I'd done came crashing down and I couldn't meet his gaze. I'd just let Connie go and now Loki was possibly trying to make things better. Oh god, no. "I could never leave." I replied finally. "Don't be sorry, it's my fault."

Natasha could easily see through Barton's fake smile and for a second she paused. She hated it when he did that, it was almost like lying. Why should it matter? But it did, he was her partner and something was bothering him! What could possibly be bothering him, he was under Loki's control. He hated it the last time. ENOUGH! Screeched the voice in her head demanding control again.

Clint fiddled with an arrow, trying to avoid the awkward moment. "So, uh, what do you feel like doing?" There is no need to care about this woman, Barton. Serving Loki should be your purpose. The Tessaract. "Shut up," He muttered. Then his eyes widened, and he shook his head. "Not you. The...Tessaract." The idea of even thinking about disobeying drained his energy, and he leaned back against the wall. "It happens often. The old me keeps resisting, and there's this full blown war going on, only it's inside my head. It hurts, but I don't know how to stop it."

I gulp, rubbing the back of my neck nervously. I'd pushed her away and now I was practically begging for her not to leave me, "That's good. I couldnt- can't lose you... I don't know what I'd do if I did." I murmur the last bit.

Natasha frowned and for a second she fully returned. "Barton." she murmured seeing his pain but not knowing what to do about it. The second passed, well not really but the tessaract had full control again. "You should take it easy, there is nothing we can do about it nor should. We are happy here, aren't we?" she said slightly hesitant.
