Katherine hadn't even heard Rem's footsteps as he came in. Most of the time she could pinpoint where he was by listening very carefully, but she was still half-asleep from sleeping. As he tapped her on the shoulder, Katherine freaked and nearly dropped her mug filled with hot coffee. She caught it before it could hit the ground, and she turned her head to glare at him.
"Are you trying to give me a heart attack!?" she grumbled, her shoulders lifting up and down like she was recovering from shock. Katherine closed her eyes for a few minutes and controlled her breathing once more, before opening them again and looking at Rem. He could be so sneaky sometimes... despite the natural loud footsteps of a man. He had been trained to be quiet in the first place, so there were times where she could and could not hear him.
The mention of the orphanage brought back the memory of the week before with them speaking of going to the orphanage. Was he actually serious this time? She had thought that he would wait at least another week before going there. But if he actually wanted to, she wasn't going to complain. She wanted to know more than he did.
"Let's go then," Katherine half-yawned, setting down her coffee mug on the counter and standing up. She looked at Rem with an amused expression, seeing that he had actually gone through with her joke a few days earlier. You know, you'd look older and more like a man if you grew a beard, she had teased him. But she had never thought that he would actually follow through with it. He was growing one around his chin and upper lip, looking more like a goatee than anything else. She couldn't help but giggle, grabbing his chin with one hand and shaking his face like he was a little kid.
"You're so funny," she giggled, giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
