Where... am I?
Katherine looked around the white walls around her, finding herself in a completely blank room. Where was the rest of her friends? Where had Rem disappeared to? She had closed her eyes, but hadn't even expected waking up to a room that contained nothing inside. To make matters even more awkward, she was wearing a pure white dress that made her look like a bride from a recent wedding. What in the world was happening? Was she dreaming?
The door to the room opened, and standing in the doorway was none other than both her mother and father. They were wearing white clothing as well: her father had a pure white suit on, and her mother a knee-length summer dress.
"Mom? Dad?" Katherine gasped, not understanding in the slightest. Why were they there!? Rem had told her that her father had died with Maxime back in Los Angeles--
I'm dead. The thought suddenly clicked to Katherine, and she almost felt like collapsing onto the ground. She had died; her body was no longer with her. She was just a spirit, wandering around until she could finally find a place to settle or live in the light. But what about Rem? He was still alive! He was still out there and she... she had left him.
"Katherine, do not worry..." her mother suddenly murmured, breaking the long-lasting silence that had been between them. Katherine snapped her head up at her parents, her chest rising and falling in shock.
"I have every right to worry! I-I'm dead, aren't I!? A-A-And Rem is still down there... I can't leave him! No, I mustn't leave him!!" Even in the world that she was now in, there were tears coming to her eyes. She would never be able to see Rem now. What if time went on and made her forget? What if he died but didn't come to the same place as she was in? What if--
"You're fine, Katherine. You're not dead... well, you're not completely dead," John suddenly interrupted Katherine's thoughts. She was about to ask how, but he put a hand up to stop her. "Your heart has stopped momentarily, like when you had drowned in the ocean. Even if you have technically passed on, your heart is still somehow going. You're not ready to come here, Katherine. You still have a life ahead of you."
