Aeryn
There was no ducking in aikido. As her sensei once described, "One must act as if the ceiling is sinking." Basically, once you are down, you should stay down until the technique is completed. Naturally, ducking didn't quell well with this philosophy. So what did she do as her opponent's right fist catapulted towards her?
She ducked.
It wasn't because she didn't know better, honestly. It was because she had over-thought the situation yet again and freaked out. And when she freaked out, it was as if every last year upon year of training had been erased from her mind with a single flick of a switch. Let's just say that a mere infant, diaper and all, would stand a better chance in this position than Aeryn would.
And that was when she her senses revived.
Despite the fact that she couldn't recall a single technique name--or distinguish any comprehendible thought for that matter--her body knew exactly what to do. As her enemy's knee skyrocketed towards her, Aeryn's instincts took the wheel and she did what she should have done from the first signs of the right hook: get off the line, as her sensei regularly hammered into her. If there was even a sliver of her mind left, it was that, and that was just she did. The hooded girl slid to her right with a sudden sense of conviction.
However, her "freak-out episode" hadn't come free; it proved to be a detrimental delay. Just barely, her competitor had clipped her on her left side with his knee. Dazed, she stumbled, sending a cloud of dust into the air that confirmed Aeryn's descent into a wheezing fit as struggled to compose herself. Oh how she wished she could smite the bugger with a thunderbolt right then! But alas, her powers refused to function indoors, or underground apparently.
She stabled herself with her jo before she launched into a striking stance, much like a snake before her fatal strike. Shikaku, the Japanese phrase pounded on her brain like a thousand drums of war. The Dead Zone. She had to reach the Dead Zone before she was killed herself. And with that, she tore forward, her weapon h***-bent on ramming her foe's side.
((I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense DX I still have kind of a writer's block.
Yep. I've decided Aeryn can only use her powers outside (Just imagine that the times she has controlled the weather from "within" the school, she had ran outside to do it.
I'll post for Lyric and Spec later.))
