Having arrived late the day before to the ranch, Bethany had just been grateful Mark was still awake when she'd pulled up. He'd let her have one of the guest bedrooms in the ranch house for the night, after she'd bedded down her horse in one of the stables. She hadn't seen Mark since they'd been teenagers, when she'd come out every summer to ride her horse and partake in competitions. She was thankful they still remembered one another.
She was woken by the smell of coffee brewing. Sighing heavily, she rolled out of bed -- literally. She realized her mistake after she hit the floor in a tangle of blankets and limbs. She groaned quietly, sitting up.
Once she'd made her bed and pulled on some socks, she trudged downstairs to the kitchen, the only room with a light on right now. The sun was just starting to peek over the mountains in the east, letting in a tiny bit of light through the open windows.
"Good morning, Mark," she said with a yawn, rubbing her eyes to try and wake up more. She hadn't bothered with putting on day clothes, so she was still in a t-shirt and pajama pants, and didn't seem to care. "When that's done, care to share?" she asked with a slight smile. She really liked to have a cub of coffee to start the day.

Mark stood there with his back to the counter, leaning against it slightly as he waited for the coffee to finish making. His head was leaned up against one of the cabinets, his eyes half shut, and his arms folded over his chest. He had forgotten about letting Bethany stay there the night before, so he had no clue that she would come walking into the kitchen, but his mind hadn't fully woken up either yet seeing as how he had yet to get something in him. His eyes quickly opened when he saw a girl walking into the kitchen, for a moment he debated on asking how she had gotten there or not, but he remembered letting her stay the night. A half smile came upon his face as he looked at her and stood up straight from where he was leaning on the counter, his hands unfolded from his chest and setting on the counter top behind him.
"Nah, I just figured I'd drink it all seeing as how I'm not even woke up yet. Might take me a while, but you can watch." He said jokingly followed by a short wink. His voice was deeper than usual and slightly groggy from just having woke up.

Bethany smiled back at him. He definitely sounded tired as compared to last night when he'd greeted her. "Oh darn, I was really looking forwards to some coffee to kick-start my day," she said with a dramatic sigh, still smiling. She leaned against another part of the counter near the coffee pot, like standing there would guarantee her a cup. She was quiet for a moment, sort of spacing out for a little bit, before she seemed to realize that there was still someone else in the room. She blushed a bit in embarassment, unsure of what really to say to him. What did you say to a man you hadn't seen since you were a kid?
"Once your day starts, would you like to go riding?" she asked, looking over at Mark. She hadn't ridden with him since her teenage years, but she remembered that he was a good rider. She'd enjoyed riding with him.

Mark chuckled and shook his head, his eyes half closed as he did so. It was to early in the morning for this. The sun was going to be making its way up and over the hillside soon, so he had hoped to go outside and watch it when it rose as he did every morning, but seeing as how he had slept in a little late he probably couldn't do that now because the coffee was taking so long. He looked up at her with his eyes open, thinking about her question for a moment. "I don't see why not. I'd just have to make sure all the work was done first, wasn't able to get everything done yesterday and I only caught a few of the horses." He told her before looking back down at the coffee pot that was just about halfway done now.

"I can help you catch them, if you like," Bethany offered, smiling a bit at him before looking back to the coffee pot as it filled. She'd stabled her horse last night, but that didn't mean she couldn't help him out a bit. After all, he was being nice enough to offer her a room to stay and food and boarding for her horse. The least she could do was help him out with his daily chores.

Mark shrugged his broad shoulders and crossed his arms comfortably over his chest. "I don't know. It can be rather hard gettin' them out of the pasture sometimes. Some of them I haven't been able to get into the barn. There's also a wild stallion runnin' around. He tries to take off with some of my mares at any chance he can get. I don't think he'd be out when we went out there, but just to be on the safe side.." He explained as he looked over at her, his eyes serious, but soft at the same time with their brownish gold coloring. He wasn't sure if it would be such a great idea for her to go out there right then with that horse out. Then there were others if you came anywhere close to they would spook and scare the rest of them out there, some he hadn't even been able to catch since he had gotten them there a while back from a horse auction.

{(Yeah sure. Maybe they could meet up somewhere? Like her car is broke down or something..)}

Bethany just smiled when he warned her about the stallion and how the horses were skittish. "I grew up around horses," she told him with a slight laugh. "If you honestly think it's dangerous, I'll stay, Mark. But I'd still be happy to help if you need it," she added. She was a helpful person, especially to friends. That, or she was just being stubborn and determined to help despite the warnings he'd given her. She was known to take stupid risks sometimes. It was how she'd broken her arm in the eighth grade, and then her leg in the tenth grade.

((That works just fine. He probably saw her on the side of the road and pulled over to see if she needed help, then remembered her from the past and all works out! ))
