Dawnbreaker nodded. "It's almost like the old stories of dragon riders. How two could have a soul so closely bound they could feel the pain the other felt, they could feel when they were happy or sad. How you felt pulled. Of course, the last few dragons with such bonds were slayed long ago by the king, and the riders were killed not long after." Sevilen shivered. Her father was the reason the dragon riders were gone. "They say when the last dragon was killed, his rider screamed until she passed out and refused to eat, drink, or live. They say the soul of that person was gone with their dragon." Another shudder from Sevilen. "That's an awful way to die." She muttered, sitting down and wrapping her arms around her legs. "To have your soul ripped from you and to not want to live. All to want is death." Dawnbreaker nodded again. "It's the same if the rider dies. The two can't live without the other. If grief doesn't kill them, the loss of their soul will." Sevilen looked thoughtfully at the pretty embroidered shoes that poked out from under her midnight skirts. "So, to clear things up, we're not going to be eaten?" She asked. "No." Dawn confirmed. She shuddered as the last scream died out from the kill. "I guess not all are so fortunate as us." She breathed, taking a second to be thankful for the fact she was alive. "But the king didn't succeed in his plan. That's what matters for now. The tyrant still has someone after him. Me."

((I can't remember if I told you or not but I don't get on much on weekends as I am usually spending time with my fiance.))

Eleanor flinched at the death scream, but Garret didn't even bat an eye. Being a hunter by trade meant he had steeled himself against death cries long ago. Sometimes the animals hunted didn't die on the first shot. At times they just fell into convulsions, bloody froth pouring from their mouth and snout. It wasn't a pretty sight, but people needed to feed their families.
Eleanor however was more sensitive to life and death, she was the one who cried as she killed even the smallest of creatures and thanked nature for every meal she ate. It was an appreciated sense of humanity though, for Garret may have lost any sense of right and wrong long ago without his sister.
Each sibling looked up at the dragons that had chosen them, or were they the dragons that fate had chosen for them? It was shocking to think that their lives could be so intimately tied to such a beautifully savage creature. Without one, the other could not exist.
At Sevilen's words the siblings looked towards her. Garret took a step forward, "I will be here to fight alongside you, your high- I mean, Sevilen." He blushed, unused to calling one of royal blood by something as intimately as their given name.
Eleanor stepped forward shortly after, "I will fight as well." She stated.
Above them Nila and Fraener growled their contentment, approving of the bold humans that had been chosen for them.

(Sorry. Slipped to the second page when I was at camp.)
Sevilen stood up proudly with the ghost of a smile on her face. "Thank you. If we should succeed I'll see that you are both appointed as royal hunters, if that's the rank you would wish to have." She cast a weary glance to the dragon above her. She could still hear the death screams ringing in her ear. Not that she didn't trust the huge beast... But she didn't. How could she? Not after years of seeing prisoners being shipped off for bait and dragon heads mounted above the dinner table. It was easier to see dragons as killers though. Especially with the fear still in her. Dawnbreaker huffed from above, his eyes still glancing to the empty nest. "Well, humans, feel free to make yourselves comfortable here. You may be here for a while, as you have no where to go." Sevilen hated to admit it, but he was right. They really had no other place to go. Well, the valley, with no cover and not as nice dragons. She opened her mouth to accept the offer, but Dawnbreaker stood up first. She quickly shuffled around to avoid being hit by his tail. "Have either of you seen Darkwing?" He asked, making a bit of a face. "She left last night and I haven't seen her since."
