The king brushed everything off except the last one. He froze at that. "Fine! But you're deeds will not go unpunished. Since you have kids and my brother is sick, you're sentence won't be long. "Two weeks in the dungeon, no food, only water. No execution."

Cara gulped and squeezed Jasper's hand. "Yes sir," she said quietly.

Jasper sighed, looking at her. He squeezed her hand back, and waited for the guards to push them downstairs.

The guards came up a moment later and escorted them down the stairs gruffly. This time though, instead of chaining them to a wall, they locked the two into a cell. Just before they left, the one that had captured Cara before, John, leaned down and whispered, "I'll be back later, hottie." He smirked and winked before standing and walking out.

Jasper glared at him as he walked out, then looked at Cara. He softened.

Cara hugged her knees to her chest and hung her head, resting her forehead on her kneecaps. She was backed up against the wall, and her eyes closed in defeat. "I'm so sorry," she whispered.

Jasper shook his head, sitting with her. "No, Cara. Don't be."

"Promise you'll stay strong? Jasper, if I lose you..." Cara trailed off, not wanting to finish the sentence. She lifted her head and gulped. "That guard scares me."

Jasper nodded. "I promise. I know he does, honey. But this time..." He sighed. "This time I can't promise the guard won't touch you. He's bigger, and stronger... And he could kill me with one punch. I grew up woth him. I'veseen it."

Cara whimpered and wrapped her arms around him. "What will he do to me?"
