Alli started to cry silently as they removed the knife, and whimpered a bit. "Is it out?" she whispered, her eyes closed.

Cam nodded. "Yeah baby," he said, kissing her head. The doctor sighed. "We'll need to give her some pain medication. Are you alright with that, ma'am?"

Alli nodded a bit, still holding Cam's hand. "Please?" she asked shakily.

The doctor nodded and gave her the medicine through the IV. "As soon as we get you stitched up, we'll call someone to take you home if you wish."

"Thank you doctor," she said quietly, then looked to Cam. "I'm sorry."

Cam shook his head. "Don't be, baby," he said.

Alli bit her lip and raised her gaze to the ceiling as her eyes watered. "Why am I always the damsel in distress."

Cam sighed, rubbing her hand. "So your knight in shining armor has someone to save."
