A few minutes later, Molly emerged from the bathroom with tears in her eyes. She probably didn't have to even say it for him to know, but she did anyway, in a quiet and broken voice. "Charlie, I'm pregnant."

Charlie sighed and hugged her. "It'll be okay, Molly."

Molly bit her lower lip until she tasted blood. She buried her face in his chest and squeezed her eyes shut as she wrapped her arms around his torso. His words hardly comforted her, no matter how much she wanted to believe them. Things wouldn't be okay. If they had a baby at their age, things would never be normal again. They weren't ready. She was terrified.

Charlie sighed, rubbing her back. "I'm so sorry, babe."

Molly just shook her head, not trusting herself to speak. If she did, she'd surely burst into tears. She'd promised herself that she and Charlie wouldn't make the same mistakes as Hannah and Mack, but here they were, in the same situation. It was almost worse, to know that they should have been careful but weren't. She clutched onto his shirt tightly with her fists, her face still in his chest.

Charlie sighed. "Come on, let's go back home. We don't have to tell anyone yet."

Molly whimpered and shook her head. "I...I don't think I'm ready to be home yet...I can't act like things are fine." There was no way that she'd be able to hold her composure together. "Don't tell me you're okay with this, because I know you're not."

Charlie sighed, pressing his forehead to the top of her head. "Well I can't exactly break down right now, Mol," he said. "I need to be here for you. You need me to be strong and I need myself to be strong for you."

"It's okay to break down sometimes," Molly whispered into his shirt as she held him close. All she wanted to do right then was cry with him and comfort each other, but they couldn't given their location options. It was sweet that he wanted to be strong for her, but she knew that he needed to get his emotions out too.

Charlie thought for a minute. "Come on," he said. "There's somewhere I want to take you. It's pretty out of the way but not far enough so we can't walk."
