"I love you so much Rory," Lizzie whispered into his shirt as they sat there, holding each other as they were enveloped in sobs. She whimpered and tightened her arms around him slightly.

"I love you too," he told her. "And I'm sorry I freaked out on you, baby."

Lizzie shook her head. "You had the right to," she said, her voice still quiet.

Rory sighed. "Let's just..." he wiped his eyes. "Go back home," he said.

Lizzie sniffled and shook her head. "No...not until this is all worked out." She wiped her eyes and looked into his. "You blame yourself and I blame myself. The guilt will eat us alive unless we come up with some way to sort this out, Rory."

"But..." he sighed, laying back in the dirt. He didn't mind right then. "I don't have a single clue. What do you blame yourself for?"

Lizzie laid back with him, letting him go. "Not being there for you and being in such a horrible condition when you came back," she said quietly.

Rory looked at her. "Maybe if we get rid of where the blame's at, there won't be any. You not being there... That'll be dealt with when Jack and I go talk to the hospital. And we'll just... try and make you better."

Lizzie bit down hard on her lip and nodded slightly. All she wanted was for things to be normal again, but she knew that that wouldn't likely happen. "You promise?"

"Promise," he said, and pulled her to him. "I love you WAY to much to let this destroy us."
