Lizzie's jaw dropped open. "The doctors told me you passed away months ago. I was there."

Rory frowned. "They never told you I lived?" he asked.

Lizzie shook her head and swallowed hard. "All this time, I thought you were gone."

Rory sighed. "No, I'm not gone. I'm here." He took her shoulders and pulled back to look at her.

"Thank God," Lizzie breathed, watching him. She bit her lip, knowing she probably looked different from when he'd last seen her.

"And believe me. This is not just going to be dropped," he told her. "But enough of that. How have you been getting along?"

Lizzie still bit her lip. "I think if I told you, you'd walk out the door again."

"I won't, I promise," he said.

Lizzie sighed and shook her head, dropping her gaze to her feet. "I hardly eat or sleep, and have basically been a zombie for the past few months," she admitted, avoiding eye contact. "Cam's been here taking care of me and basically forcing me to eat."
