"What," she mumbled, falling back into the state of numbness again.

"Do you want me to come in again?" he asked

Lizzie paused, then sighed. "Yeah." As much as she felt the need to be alone, she wanted to be comforted at the same time. It was a strange feeling.

Cam walked in slowly, then closed the door.

Lizzie rolled over on her side to face him. She bit her lip and held her arms open, suddenly wanting to cry again.

He rushed to her, hugging her. "I'm here, I know."

Lizzie buried her face in his chest and squeezed her eyes shut as the first tears escaped. "I don't know what to do, Cam."

Cam nodded. "I know. But hey," he said. "Do you think he'd want you to be so sad all the time?" he asked softly. "I'm sure he'd want you to try and be at least a little happy, and he'd want you to eat and keep yourself healthy."

Lizzie sniffled, still crying. "Of course he'd want me to be happy. But he never understood that I can't be happy without him."
