Cara nodded, a bad feeling settling in her stomach. "Okay, I'll be there in ten. Should I bring the kids?"

"No... no," he said.

Cara nodded. "I'm on my way." She scribbled down a message for the kids to explain where she was, then hopped in the car and drove to the hospital.

Jasper hung up, and kissed Lizzie's head.

Lizzie buried her face in Jasper's shirt, crying harder. Rory was never coming back.

When Cara got there, she hurried in to find everyone in tears. Her breath caught in her throat. "Oh no..." she said under her breath, watching Lizzie sob into Jasper. She swallowed hard and walked to her husband.

Jasper sighed, just holding Lizzie. He looked at Cara and sighed.

Cara's hand covered her mouth and she sat down beside Jasper slowly. She stared ahead, shocked.

Lizzie didn't look up. She was too miserable to do anything except cry.

Jasper sighed, looking at Cara. His eyes told her everything.

Cara looked back at him, her eyes sad. She wrapped her arms around him gently.

Jasper kissed her head, and closed his eyes, holding them.
