Mack looked at her, handing her the note. "She left!" he said, sobbing.

Lizzie's eyes widened as she read the note. "You got her pregnant?" she exclaimed. "Holy *naughty word*, Mack!" She pulled him into a gentle hug, then held him at arm's length. "You love her, don't you?"

Mack nodded. "Very much," he said.

Lizzie looked him straight in the eye. "Then go get her, Mack." She wasn't going to let her baby brother suffer over what was likely the love of his life, especially if she was going to have his child. "You know her better than anyone. Where would she go?"

Mack thought for a minute, and then nodded. "Thank you, Lizzie," he said, and hugged her tightly.

Lizzie nodded and hugged him back tightly, then released him after a moment. "Now go get her, before she becomes the one that got away."

He nodded, and ran out the door, running to the old abandoned house. He walked in. "Hannah?" he called. "Baby are you here?"

Hannah froze when she heard Mack walk in. She should have known he'd check here. She bit down hard on her lip in an attempt to quiet her sobbing as she laid on the bed. She couldn't let him find her; if he did, then of course he'd take her into his care. But if that happened, then he could never have his life back. They'd have to be teenage parents, and she didn't want to put him through that.

Mack looked around the house before going into the room. He found her, lying on the bed. "Oh Hannah," he murmured, and hurried over to her. He scooped her into his arms, and sat down, holding her to his chest. "It's okay, sweetheart. I got you, I'm right here."

When she saw Mack, Hannah broke down in sobs. She couldn't take this. He rushed over and pulled her into his arms like she'd known he would, telling her that it would be okay. But it wouldn't. How could it? She whimpered and shook her head, pulling away from him. "Don't you get it?" she asked brokenly between sobs. "You can't be here. All of this could ruin your life, ruin your reputation; your family's reputation. I'm the bloody idiot who got pregnant in the first place, and now I have to live with that. You don't. Go while you have the chance, Mack." With every word she spoke, it felt as though a dagger were slicing through her heart.
