Dakota was born and raised in Southern California suburbia. In early childhood he was kept fairly sheltered, and he even went to a private Christian junior high. Needless to say, parents and teachers were horrified when he was discovered kissing another boy in the dark corner of the locker room after school. It was after the reprimand from his parents, principal, and prayer detention that Dakota first started skipping class. He was sent to public school for high school so his parents wouldn’t waste their money on a heretic who missed school.

He had a passion for skating ever since he was six and got a pair of skates that went over tennis shoes for Christmas. Upon entering high school, he fell into what would be viewed as “the wrong crowd” because of his passion for skating and habits of ditching. A group of skaters who seemed to be just like him – and therefore could understand him – and took Dakota under their wing. He started smoking at 15, experimented with other drugs later on. Booze entered his life somewhere around that time as well. Sometimes he got picked up by the police for breaking curfew or under aged drinking, but he never spent more than a night in juvy.

His parents seemed to perfer to turn a blind eye than actually do anything about the boy’s bad habits. Either that or they had just given up. Instead, they started focusing on his kid sister and shaping her into the person, the child, they had always wanted. Unfortunately, this also turned her into a snitch to a degree. That was never Dakota's ideal life, butlife is what you make it; he’d rather be left alone, anyway.
