Jo glanced over at Kanar still smiling. "Just ignore her, we refugees are aften very restless." She got out of her meditating position and offered her hand to help Kanar get up. "So, anything you need help with? We do owe you quite alot."

Kanar stood up, but he didn't take Jo's hand,
"I don't think so, but I was going to make sure my ship is in full working order. If we're going to be running from Jedi I don't want her breaking down on me. You might be able to help me with that. Just don't...how do I word this? Mess with things that look like you probably shouldn't touch them," he said. He grinned and started walking through the yard to his ship, the Hawkbat.

Jo raised an eyebrow. "Mess things up? I built a perfectly functional X-Wing when I was 14. Don't worry, I won't mess up your precious ship." She followed him up to the ship examining it more carefully than before. "Hawkbat? Interesting choice."

"Yup. She's a HWK-290 transport, but if you flew one right off the line you wouldn't know they were the same ships. I've made a lot of modifications," Kanar said. He opened the hatch and walked inside.
"There probably isn't anything in here that I haven't touched," he said. He shrugged off his jacket and tossed it into one of the chairs. He opened up a compartment in the wall and took out a box with some tools in it. He could never get anything just right in his ship, at least not in his eyes. He was forever tinkering with things to make the ship faster and more powerful.

Jo looked into the compartment, looking over all the bits and bobs. "I see you've completely changed the mainframe." She smiled remembering when she first learned how to repair and build a ship. "Not bad, though, if you switched those wires..." She pointed to a pair of blue and green wires."... and moved them with those two brown and black ones, your sheilds would be slightly more effective and harder to take down."

OOC: Ah failed post. I have no idea what I'm talking about. DX

Kanar laughed,
"Um, I don't think so. Switching a few wires around isn't going to strengthen the shields. It's just going to mess up the flow of electricity. It all has to do with the shield generators back here," he said. He opened the door that led into the cockpit.

"The shield generator is under the cockpit here," he said. He opened up a hatch in the floor behind the controls, "It's the best model I could find that would actually work with this type of ship. I haven't modified it much, but I have upgraded it a little to make the shields stronger. It's nice having the hatch right here in the cockpit. That way if somehow I take a hit down here it's easy to fix."

He made sure that all the plugs, wires, and other components were secure before shutting the hatch. He stood up,
"I'll show you the engine room," he said.

Jo nodded, feeling rather clueless about all of this. It was a whole lot more complicated than her simple X-Wing. "So, how'd you get her? Built her, bought her?" Stole her? She added mentally to herself. Nah, he wouldn't do that. I don't think he could really pull it off. She followed Kanar into the engine room.

"Bought her," Kanar said, "It took forever to get enough money but it was worth it."

He walked over to what looked like a large steel slab veined with blue.
"Here's the hyperdrive," he said, "It's a Class 1.0. The ship came with a much lower class hyperdrive so I had to do some major modifications. It can match most starfighters and military class ships for speed."

Jo nodded glancing at the hyperdrive and thinking to herself. I wonder what happened to that old X-Wing... She hid a small smile and mumbled to herself, not really caring if Kanar heard her or not. "Probably still on Coruscant..."

Kanar knelt behind the hyperdrive and started checking it over. He found a place where a few things had been shaken loose during his last trip. Better fix those. He didn't want to blow up if they had to go into hyperspace again soon. He put on a pair of goggles and started adjusting things and putting them firmly back in place.

He poked his head over the top of the hyperdrive and he heard Jo speak,
"Sorry, what?" he asked.
